The ectopic eruption of the maxiIlary permanent canines is a frequently encountered clinical problem. Orthodontic treatment of the impacted teeth remains a challenge for clinicians. If it is associated with other dental and skeletalproblems, there will be further complications to the treatment plan. In such cases, if we extract canines, then problems with this approach are restricted to anatomical and functional limitations ofpremolars substitution of canines. Here, we are presenting a case report of bi-maxillary dento-alveolar protrusion with the impacted maxillary and mandibular left canines and its management.
","PeriodicalId":83748,"journal":{"name":"International journal of orthodontics (Milwaukee, Wis.)","volume":"27 1","pages":"61-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"34492839","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Intrusion of Lower Incisors in Deep Overbite Cases with Mini-screws.","authors":"Ahmed M Alaa-Eldin, Ahmed S Salem, Maher A Fouda","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"
Objectives: To evaluate the dentoskeletal effects of intrusion of the lower incisor teeth by mini-screws.

Material and methods: Ten patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Mansoura University with Angle's Class II division I malocclusions. Age ranged from 15 to 18 years (15.4 year mean) with deep overbite (more than 1/3 the crown height of the lower incisors covered) requiring intrusion of the lower incisors. After alignment of the first molars, the second premolars ,and canines without inclusion of the lower four incisors, the cuspids were retracted on 16x22 inch stainless steel wire. For each patient, two mini-screws were inserted for anchorage for the lower incisors segment intrusion between the lateral incisor and the cuspid--one in each side and connected to a utility arch wire.

Results: The mean of overbite correction was 4.2 mm (p<. 05, and lower incisors were intruded significantly by a mean of 3.55 mm (p<.05).

Conclusion: The mandibular incisors were effectively intruded by using mini-screws as orthodontic anchorage with no significant counteractive movements in the molars.
","PeriodicalId":83748,"journal":{"name":"International journal of orthodontics (Milwaukee, Wis.)","volume":"27 1","pages":"29-32"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"34481523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These scans provide information on anatomy not previously evaluated with traditional 2D films. One structure often mentioned in a CBCT radiology report is the pineal gland. The pineal gland will show evidence of calcification, but this calcification is often dismissed as a normal aging process. Class II Division 1 Malocclusion Treated with a Cervical-Pull Headgear: A Case Report. 用颈拉帽治疗II类1科错颌:1例报告。
Ankit H Shah
{"title":"Class II Division 1 Malocclusion Treated with a Cervical-Pull Headgear: A Case Report.","authors":"Ankit H Shah","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

Orthodontic treatment for skeletal Class II malocclusion was undertaken with the aim ofachieving orthopedic correction by modifying the growth pattern. A case of Class II, Division 1 malocclusion in the late mixed dentition was corrected to a Class I molar relationship by primarily using cervical-pull headgear. Cephalometric analysis indicated a reduction in the maxillo-mandibular discrepancy (ANB°) due to the correction of a skeletal Class II malocclusion to a Class I occlusion. The superimposition demonstrated that this was achieved by favorable growth of the mandible, control of maxillary first molars in an antero-posterior direction and retraction of maxillary incisors. Proclination of mandibular incisors was reduced. Significant improvement in the soft-tissue profile was noted.
","PeriodicalId":83748,"journal":{"name":"International journal of orthodontics (Milwaukee, Wis.)","volume":"27 1","pages":"25-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"34481522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
