Procoagulant activity of platelets. 血小板的促凝活性。

When fewer than 100,000 platelets/cu mm were present, excellent correlation between platelet concentration and clotting time was noted, with correlation best in the range 30,000 to 100,000 platelets/cu mm. When platelets were present in concentrations greater than 100,000/cu mm, no alteration in clotting time as a function of platelet count was noted. These observations were consistent with clinical observations that patients with greater than 100,000 platelets rarely bleed and that those with fewer than 30,000 platelets bleed in an unpredictable fashion. The findings have been interpreted in favor of the role of rough endoplasmic reticulum in amyloid fibril formation within the adenoma cells. No reports of another such extensive teratoma of the spinal cord can be found in the literature. Between the third and fifth days after infection, severe ultrastructural damage was noted. Margination, condensation, and fragmentation of the nuclear chromatin and the appearance of numerous cytoplasmic vesicles filled with finely granular material were the major changes observed. Viral particles were not identified. One hundred plaque-forming units (PFU) were sufficient to induce these alterations with the M variant while 10,000 PFU were needed to obtain the same results with the EMC-E virus. Histochemical differentiation utilizing the borohydride-KOH-PAS reaction.","authors":"W S Wood,&nbsp;C F Culling","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Specimens from various types of Paget disease, other tumors, and certain normal tissues were examined with a battery of histochemical techniques, including the sodium borohydride-potassium hydroxide-PAS method that specifically stains certain sialomucins that are found in terminal parts of the ileum and of the colon. These sialomucins were present in normal anal ducts but were not present in transitional or anal-covering epithelium. A case of perianal Paget disease showed strongly positive staining, both in the underlying mucinous adenocarcinoma and in Paget cells of the affected anal and perianal skin. In contrast, stains of other forms of Paget disease were totally negative with this technique, as well as malignant melanoma and Bowen disease.
