Four elements (Na, K, Mg and Zn) were analysed in wild and cultivated medicinal plants such as Andrographis paniculata, Vitex negundo and Solanum surattense. The present study revealed the presence of minerals such as Na, K, Mg and Zn in all the studied medicinal plants grown in both wild and domestic condition. The presence of those elements indicates the medicinal value of the studied plants. The results show that the cultivated medicinal plants contain more concentration of all the four investigated elements when compared to medicinal plants collected from wild area.","PeriodicalId":8135,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Plant Sciences","volume":"6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88841517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted in Sakhya Sagar Lake which is situated inside the Madhav National Park Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh. To assess the status and distribution of macrophytes, frequent trips were conducted in the study area. The plants were classified based on their habit and their presence was visually observed. A total of 16 plant species were recorded, of which 16 species, 5 species were sub-dominant, 6 species were common and 5 species were un-common. Among all the 16 plants 9 species are free floating, 4 species are submerged hydrophytes, 1 species is emergent type hydrophyte and 2 species are marginal hydrophytes. Aquatic macrophytes like Nymphaea nouchali, Nelumbo nucifera, Trapa natans, Ipomoea aquatica, Vallisnaria spiralis, Potamogeton crispus, and Azolla pinnata were recorded as the common plants of this lake. The trophic status and macrophyte diversity of Sakhya Sagar Lake has been discussed in the paper.","PeriodicalId":8135,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Plant Sciences","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85808322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The toxicological impact of Cr on treated plants with reduced Transportation index (Ti) values indicated more root Chromium accumulation as compared to shoot. Shoot translocation of Cr as depicted by transportation index (Ti) values for different crops were enhanced with the application of chelating agents. The Bio-Concentration Factor (BCF) and Total Accumulation Rate (TAR) of Chromium were elevated with the supplementation of chelators and metal ions, thus, illustrated more metal bioavailability in plants.","PeriodicalId":8135,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Plant Sciences","volume":"56 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73934445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Commercial annual flower crops viz., African marigold, French marigold, celosia, gomphrena and China aster were grown as an intercrop in coconut plantation and also under open condition for comparison. The results of the experiment showed that all of the crops performed to its optimum in the coconut shade, but less well than the open condition. The parameters viz., Plant height, internodal length, number of lateral branches, days taken for first flowering, flower diameter and yield were recorded. The yield was relatively higher in the open condition. The morphological characters were higher in the open condition and the earliness to flower bud initiation and flowering were observed in the open condition.","PeriodicalId":8135,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Plant Sciences","volume":"146 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75187197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Roxb.) is the fruit of a sub-tropical vine that belongs to the Cucurbitaceae family and is native to central and eastern Asia, including the Indian subcontinent. In this study, four crosses of ridge gourd were evaluated in the F2 generation and two crosses were advanced to F3 segregating generation for investigating the variability, heritability and genetic advance of ridge gourd. Among the crosses studied, L3xT1(Virudhunagar Local x Periyakottai Local) and L3xT2(Virudhunagar Local x Alathur  Local), exhibited superior per se performance in both F2 and F3 generations for almost all the yield contributing characters. The F2 and F3 populations of cross L3xT1 and L3xT2 showed moderate to high PCV, GCV coupled with high heritability estimates and high genetic advance as percentage of mean for node to first male flower, node to first female flower, sex ratio, number of fruits per vine, fruit length, fruit diameter, rind thickness, flesh thickness, number of seeds per fruit and fruit yield per vine.","PeriodicalId":8135,"journal":{"name":"Annals of Plant Sciences","volume":"49 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85763310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
