In the present study the enantiomer was used.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>154 ICR conventional mice were used. 77 mice were administered (R)-(+)-propranolol HCl homeopathic potency prior to and during the experiment, and the other 77 were administered indistinguishable placebo. On the day of the experiment the mice were sedated with intraperitoneal Rometar. Once sedated they were injected intraperitoneally with the LD50 dose of (S)-(-)-propranolol HCl.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The end point for statistical analysis was the difference in survival between the placebo and treatment mice. The odds ratio for survival of treatment mice relative to placebo mice was 1.64. The hypothesis of equal survival proportions gave a chi-square of 2.0916 (1 degree of freedom), which has a p-value of 0.1481. The analysis was then adjusted for mouse weight and intraperitoneal (-)-propranolol dosage using a logistic regression (LR) model. The LR treatment odds ratio was 2.017 and the LR treatment chi-square was 2.8864 (1 degree of freedom), which has a p-value of 0.0893. Consequently we accept the null hypothesis of no treatment effect on survival. The odds ratio estimates show that the treatment mice are 2.02 times more likely to survive than placebo mice, but this was not statistically significant with p = 0.089. Nine percent more treatment mice survived than placebo mice. The investigators accustomed to handling rodents noted that mouse recovery seemed substantially faster in the treatment mice than in the placebo mice.</p>","PeriodicalId":80278,"journal":{"name":"Forschende Komplementarmedizin und klassische Naturheilkunde = Research in complementary and natural classical medicine","volume":"10 6","pages":"309-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1159/000075884","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"24150413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead, it represents a fundamental biological principle that is associated with vivacity and that facilitates adaptation, dynamic balance, self-organization, and survival within a constantly changing environment. Stress may also be of significance for biological evolution. A crucial part of the physiological concept is the autoregulatory stress response. However, neither medicine nor natural sciences have been able to define this curative power. It can not be captured by experiments or assigned with dimensions or numbers. The answer can be found in the quintessential process of all living systems, the interaction of genes and proteins in every single cell. Genes encode proteins; proteins are the ubiquitous instruments of life. Protein molecules undergo rapid turnover: their median lifetime is about 2 days, and in every second so many proteins are synthesized in each of us that their number equals the number of seconds that have passed since the big bang 15 billion years ago. The biochemical dogma that says that after their synthesis proteins are degraded at random - blindly, quasi - is wrong. The experimental results have not been interpreted correctly. In the first instance, proteins are stable and functional, since they have to fulfill numerous tasks. Only aged, severely damaged, non-functioning proteins are discarded. Protein turnover is subject to selection, not to chance. By selecting fresh, functional proteins, the quality of cellular proteins is kept at a high level. The principle of selection in protein turnover is the crucial component in the scientific groundwork of naturopathy therapeutics. With natural influencies and measures (e.g. food processing, intermediate metabolism, exercise, light, warmth, coldness) the steady process of regeneration is accelerated - in contrast to medical therapy, which restricts and blocks protein activities. Natural healing power and self-organization energy are basic phenomena of a therapeutically used physiology. Entanglement model of homeopathy as an example of generalized entanglement predicted by weak quantum theory. 顺势疗法的纠缠模型——以弱量子理论预测的广义纠缠为例。

{"title":"Entanglement model of homeopathy as an example of generalized entanglement predicted by weak quantum theory.","authors":"H Walach","doi":"10.1159/000073475","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1159/000073475","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>Homeopathy is scientifically banned, both for lack of consistent empirical findings, but more so for lack of a sound theoretical model to explain its purported effects. This paper makes an attempt to introduce an explanatory idea based on a generalized version of quantum mechanics (QM), the weak quantum theory (WQT). WQT uses the algebraic formalism of QM proper, but drops some restrictions and definitions typical for QM. This results in a general axiomatic framework similar to QM, but more generalized and applicable to all possible systems. Most notably, WQT predicts entanglement, which in QM is known as Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) correlatedness within quantum systems. According to WQT, this entanglement is not only tied to quantum systems, but is to be expected whenever a global and a local variable describing a system are complementary. This idea is used here to reconstruct homeopathy as an exemplification of generalized entanglement as predicted by WQT. It transpires that homeopathy uses two instances of generalized entanglement: one between the remedy and the original substance (potentiation principle) and one between the individual symptoms of a patient and the general symptoms of a remedy picture (similarity principle). By bringing these two elements together, double entanglement ensues, which is reminiscent of cryptographic and teleportation applications of entanglement in QM proper. Homeopathy could be a macroscopic analogue to quantum teleportation. This model is exemplified and some predictions are derived, which make it possible to test the model.</p>","PeriodicalId":80278,"journal":{"name":"Forschende Komplementarmedizin und klassische Naturheilkunde = Research in complementary and natural classical medicine","volume":"10 4","pages":"192-200"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2003-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1159/000073475","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"22575012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
