Perhaps the only constant is change itself. Managing successfully in this environment demands an increasing level of sophistication. In a rapidly changing environment, the manager must provide focus and direction and at the same time stay flexible so that the organization can quickly adjust to environmental demands. However, it is easy for such models to run afoul of antitrust regulations, as did a messenger model IPA in Tampa, Fla. The following is a discussion of this case. The analysis revealed that 80 percent of these expenses were fixed costs. Fixed costs, as opposed to variable costs, remain static in total but vary on a per unit basis as volume changes.
