Pour une grande part, on trouve la definition d’un domaine dans ce qu’il publie (1). Il est donc essentiel de garantir que les publications respectent les regles ethiques internationales les plus elevees. C’est pour effectivement s’assurer de bonnes pratiques dans ce domaine que notre revue Promotion & Education, avec le soutien de SAGE Publications, a rejoint recemment le Comite d’ethique des publications (COPE). Le COPE est un forum mis a la disposition des redacteurs, qui cherche des manieres pratiques de prevenir tout manquement a l’ethique dans le cadre des publications scientifiques (2). Depuis 1997, le COPE collabore avec des redacteurs en chef de revues soumises a l’expertise de pairs afin d’encourager la discussion des questions ethiques autour de la publication, de meme que des actions pour garantir le respect des regles ethiques. Afin d’aider les redacteurs, les membres des comites de redaction, les auteurs, les lecteurs et les editeurs a considerer l’ethique de la publication, en 1999 le COPE a publie une serie de Directives sur les pratiques exemplaires en matiere de publication. This is particularly important since many issues related to HIV/AIDS, such as sex, homosexuality, and drug use, are taboo topics in the Islamic world. We analyzed Farsi-language educational and informational small media items to ascertain the nature of HIV/AIDS-related material available in society. While all of the documents mentioned sexual contact as a means of transmitting the virus, and the majority (87%) mentioned condom use as a preventive means, mention of homosexuality (43%) and prostitution (17%) was lacking in most. Thus, mention of \"safe sex\" strategies was not avoided due to fear of promoting sex outside of marriage, as has been noted in other Islamic nations. Mention of intravenous drug use in 90% of the documents shows an acknowledgment of the drug problem in the nation, and an effort to curb its harmful sequelae. Therefore, while certain issues such as sex, condoms, and drug use were well represented in the documents analyzed, additional inclusion of topics such as homosexuality and prostitution, issues already discussed infrequently in society, can help to better educate the population and curb the spread of this life-threatening disease.</p>","PeriodicalId":79366,"journal":{"name":"Promotion & education","volume":"15 3","pages":"21-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/1025382308095651","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"27667427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite evidence that as compared to other wealthy nations Canada presents a mediocre population health profile and public policy environments increasingly less supportive of health, the Canadian public health gaze is firmly - and narrowly - focused on lifestyle issues of diet, physical activity and tobacco use. Much of this has to do with Canada being identified as being driven by a liberal political economy, a situation shared with a cluster of other developed nations. The relevance of this document to an intensive care setting and the extent to which it may be translated into meaningful practice is examined in this paper. Acute care is an area lying at the extreme end of tertiary health, and at first glance it may be difficult to reconcile the significance of health promotion and the Ottawa Charter with this particular area of health care practice. On closer inspection, however, the relevance of the Charter lies in its impact on the number and type of patients seen in the Intensive Care Unit, and on the effect that the implementation of the health promotion action areas has on the client base. Even at the extreme end of tertiary care it is equally important to be aware of public health issues and to advocate, enable and mediate, where necessary, on behalf of and alongside patients, particularly as we care for them when they are most vulnerable. A commitment to both action and meaningful practice must continue to be pursued while equity in health remains a goal to be achieved.</p>","PeriodicalId":79366,"journal":{"name":"Promotion & education","volume":"15 2","pages":"35-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/1025382308090348","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"27501508","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El aprendizaje individual necesario para llegar a ser miembro competente de una comunidad viene orientado por normas que suelen ser implicitas, mientras que el mismo aprendizaje personal en lo referente a lo profesional debe cumplir unas expectativas que son, ademas de rigurosas, explicitas. Un factor esencial de esta idea de una comunidad de profesionales a favor de la justicia social es que las peculiaridades de la comunidad y de cada una de las profesiones aportan los elementos necesarios para luchar por la justicia social (sinergia). Si la comunidad se profesionalizase, o las profesiones se radicalizasen, se perderian en el proceso elementos vitales. Esta postura se opone a la completa profesionalizacion de la promocion de la salud, y tambien a que las profesiones que colaboran con ella se conviertan en entidades cuyo principal interes sea la promocion de la salud.
