Estrus was synchronized by methallibure to obtain a reference point for dating the onset of the follicular phase of each sow in the experiment. In follicles increasing in diameter from 2.6 mm at days 0 and 1 of the follicular phase to 6.6 mm at day 6, granulosa 125 _oLH or 125 -pLH binding increased by 14 times while that of the theca interna increased by 2. The binding of these hormones remained high during and after the end of the ovulatory LH surge, at least until several hours before ovulation. Variations in plasmic as well as intrafollicular LH levels were radioimmunologically assayed. High intrafollicular levels of estradiol-1 7p at day 3 would explain the large increase of granulosa LH binding between days 4 and 5-6, in turn causing the intrafollicular level of progesterone to rise at day 5. These results indicated an interdependence between hormonal levels and target cell receptivity.","PeriodicalId":7885,"journal":{"name":"Annales De Biologie Animale Biochimie Biophysique","volume":"33 1","pages":"1655-1667"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87972953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Seven Large-White pigs of 45 kg live weight were fistulated. Volumes and total excreted bile salts were measured in hourly samples. Results show that within 24 hrs.the volume of the collected bile was about 2100 ml and the total amount of bile salts about 37 g. The bile excretion (volume and bile salts) was minimum before the morning meal (9:00 a. m.) and the total amount of the excreted bile salts immediately increased after diet intake. Within 2 hrs. after the morning and afternoon meals, values were about 300 p. 100 higher than those determined at 9:00 a. m. This increase was essentially the result of the excretion of a highly concentrated bile (200 to 300 p. 100 more than the values at 9:00 a. m.). On the other hand, the bile volumes were only affected 2 to 3 hrs. after diet intake.","PeriodicalId":7885,"journal":{"name":"Annales De Biologie Animale Biochimie Biophysique","volume":"2 1","pages":"79-90"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79589229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A simple manipulation of the female or a change of territory did not modify the whole expulsion phase but increased variability in the birth of the second fetus. By comparison, a strong stress lengthened the duration of expulsion and influenced the time intervals between the first births. A comparison of these results with those obtained after adrenalectomy indicated that the inhibitory effect of a strong stress was probably due to maternal adrenal epinephrin secretion. In the second experiment, a stress was applied before labor in normal rats submitted to two light regimes. In these conditions, the treatment essentially stimulated the last parturitions, which occurred earlier than in control animals.","PeriodicalId":7885,"journal":{"name":"Annales De Biologie Animale Biochimie Biophysique","volume":"49 1","pages":"31-44"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77320365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Feces and urine were collected during a 10-day period in bile duct-ligated pigs, and over three 5-day periods in bile-fistulated pigs. The latter were subjected to three treatments each over the three periods : 1) re-entry of bile into the duodenum ; 2) introduction of a salt mixture (Na : 150 meq/1 ; CI : 120 meq/1 ; HC0 3: 40 meq/1) 3) no re-entry of either bile or the salt mixture. Apparent energy digestibility was mainly affected after ligature of the bile duct (-31.6 p. 100) or after removal of bile from the intestinal lumen (-23 p. 100). This decrease was essentially due to a decrease in the total lipid apparent digestibility (― 53 p. 100 after bile duct ligation and ― 31.7 p. 100 after bile removal). Apparent nitrogen and energy derived from carbohydrates digestibilities were unaffected. In the fistulated pigs the intraduodenal introduction of the salt mixture did not improve decreased apparent digestibilities.","PeriodicalId":7885,"journal":{"name":"Annales De Biologie Animale Biochimie Biophysique","volume":"88 1","pages":"1123-1130"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1979-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91159782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
