The lesion was characterized by a profile of plaques of remnant calcified cartilage in the floor of the defect, with variable proliferation of fibrous tissue, fibrocartilage, primitive cartilage, and bone derived from the underlying tissue. The sequestral fragment was composed of viable hyaline cartilage with small areas of calcified cartilage in the deep surface.","PeriodicalId":78533,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia veterinaria","volume":"6 5","pages":"424-36"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1969-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/030098586900600506","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"16076593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Infection of the Amazon dolphin (Inia geoffrensis) with Hunterotrema caballeroi causes pulmonary atelectasis. An unidentified holotrich ciliate was found in the blowholes of over 50% of the animals examined and was responsible for a purulent pneumonia in 1 instance. Hepatic and pancreatic trematodiasis which caused interstitial fibrosis occurred frequently in T. truncatus; the trematode was identified as Campula palliata. Pholeter gastrophilus, a trematode, results in the proliferation of a tumorous mass of fibrous tissue in the wall of the stomach. The sclerotic tissue surrounds cavities containing parasites and ova.","PeriodicalId":78533,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia veterinaria","volume":"6 3","pages":"257-72"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1969-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/030098586900600307","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"16891979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, as a teacher, I shall speak not of the eye, nor of any other organ system, but of veterinary pathology in general. I do this counter to established tradition in our College, which has thrived mightily during two decades without once having to endure a presidential address. Nevertheless, I crave your indulgence during this meeting, and if the results do not meet with your approval, then there are ways for a democratic society to guard itself against future animadversion of this sort. I ask your indulgence also to permit me to quote rather extensively from published sources I do so because so many people share my views that I fear I shall be accused of plagiarism if I do not cite them. WILLIAM BEAN6 has thrown down the gauntlet, in saying that 'The most disquieting function of the mind is to force itself out of the soothing security of the ruts of daily existence to try the broad perspective of a general view. That such toil is a duty of teachers is forgotten or shrugged off'. I have not forgotten it, and wish today to take up this challenge. My theme is simple and can be succinctly expressed. It is that veterinary pathology is not getting access to the best and brightest graduates of the veterinary schools, and that we are stultifying the imagination and wasting the time and energies of those we do get","PeriodicalId":78533,"journal":{"name":"Pathologia veterinaria","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-14"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1969-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1177/030098586900600101","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"16878133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
