Much Cr oxide was formed at the early stage of firing, and remained in the reaction layer even if the holding time at 960 degrees C was up to 8 minutes. As a result, many Cr atoms diffused into the porcelain layer, most of which was found to form oxides through X-ray diffraction. Moreover, the porcelain layer nearest to the oxide layer was deduced to be modified seriously.
","PeriodicalId":77622,"journal":{"name":"Shika zairyo, kikai = Journal of the Japanese Society for Dental Materials and Devices","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13290055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"[Visible light cured resin. Chronological change in mechanical properties of matrix resin immersed in MeOH].","authors":"N Ishibe","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

Monomer composition was examined to improve durability of matrix resin of visible light cured composite resin. As a monomer, five kinds of cyclophosphazene monomers, two kinds of commercial monomers and a mixture of commercial monomers were prepared to the visible light cured resins. The mechanical properties of these set products were examined with time after immersion in MeOH, an aging accelerating solvent. Compressive strength of the resins using cyclophosphazene monomers tended to decrease with time, but it increased in accordance with the increase of the number of polymerization group. Compressive strength of the resins using commercial monomers tended to decrease, but that using the BMPEPP monomer tended to increase with time. Yield point of the resins with the cyclophosphazene monomer 4 PN-(EMA)8 tended to increase with the time but that of the resins with other cases monomers decreased. The yield point of all three resins made using commercial monomers tended to decrease with time, but the rate of decrease was small for BMPEPP monomer. Compressive elastic modulus of the resins using cyclophosphazene monomers tended to increase with time when the number of polymerization group was 6-8, while it decreased when the number was 4-5. When commercial monomers were used, it tended to decrease with time, but the rate of decrease was small for the BMPEPP monomer. Transverse strength of the resins using cyclophosphazene monomers showed a tendency to decrease with time. When a commercial monomer was used, cracks appeared in the Bis-GMA+Tri-EDMA monomer after 7 days, and with the other two monomers, the transverse strength tended to decrease with time, though the rate of decrease was small for the BMPEPP monomer. Five kinds of commercial redox type composite resin and 7 kinds of visible light-cured composite resin were used and their base monomers were analyzed by HPLC. After the set products were immersed in MeOH, transverse strength and transverse elastic modulus were measured. Furthermore, the MeOH sorption, solubility in MeOH and main soluble component were examined. The main component of the base monomer in all 5 kinds of redox type was Bis-GMA. Seven kinds of visible light-cured composite resin consisted of 4 kinds of Bis-GMA (including BMPEPP) and 3 kinds of UDMA. Both cases of redox type and visible light-cured type of composite resin, when they were immersed in MeOH, transverse strength and transverse elastic modulus decreased. In the case of redox type (Clearfil posterior new bond), the decrease of transverse strength and transverse elastic modulus was small, that is, its base monomer was Bis-GMA, and large quantities of hybrid type filler were mixed. In the case of redox type, transverse strength and transverse elastic modulus showed a tendency to decrease with the increase of MeOH sorption. {"title":"[Fracture toughness of human enamel irradiated by CO2 laser].","authors":"K Okazaki, F Nishimura","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"

The fracture toughness (KIC) of human enamel irradiated by CO2 laser was examined by means of indentation microfracture method (IM method). The irradiation of laser from 1.5 watt (16 J/cm2) to 12.3 watt (133 J/cm2) was applied to enamel for 0.2 s, and the diamond cone of micro vickers hardness tester was pressed down by the 2.45 N (250 gf) under ordinary circumstances. At the irradiated spot, KIC was 0.24-0.86 MPam1/2 and Hv was 3.6 x 10(3)-4.3 x 10(3)MPa (370-440). At the non-irradiated spot, KIC was 0.83-0.9 MPam1/2 and Hv was 3.9 x 10(3)-4.3 x 10(3)MPa (400-440). A decreasing tendency of KIC was seen in all irradiated spots. The marked decrease of KIC started at the irradiation of 4.4 watt (47 J/cm2) and the rate of decrease was 22%, and 54% when exposed to the irradiation of 5.7 watt (61 J/cm2). The rate of the lowering of the KIC of 0.05 seconds' irradiation x 4 times was less than that of 0.2 s x 1 time, while cumulative total irradiation energy was equal. Impressions of the rectangular parallel piped metal mold with a high accurate point angle was taken according to the above methods, and stone casts were obtained. Enlarged images of the angles of the casts were projected with an optical projector, and the defects of the point angle were traced. The area, the length and the circular-degree coefficient of the defects were determined using an image analysis system. The surface roughness of the stone casts was also measured. The stone casts prepared by the improved agar-alginate method had better angle reproducibility and the same surface roughness as that prepared by the conventional method.
","PeriodicalId":77622,"journal":{"name":"Shika zairyo, kikai = Journal of the Japanese Society for Dental Materials and Devices","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13290172","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A hydrogen polydimethylsiloxane (H-silicone) and two vinyl polydimethylsiloxane (V-silicone) silicone prepolymers were prepared. Quartz fillers were mixed to them at contents between 0 and 50% by weight. The viscosity of these rubber compounds and mechanical properties of set materials were measured by a cone and plate viscometer, the dynamic shear test and the tension test, respectively. Viscosity eta storage modulus G' and tensile stress sigma increased with the amount of filler increase. G' and sigma were decreased by use of a V-silicone prepolymer which had a high average molecular weight and the material was more flexible. This suggests that the characteristics of the silicone prepolymer greatly affect the mechanical properties of the impression materials. Therefore, the appropriate molecular design for silicone prepolymer and reasonable filler content should be considered to make impression materials that have suitable properties for clinical use.
","PeriodicalId":77622,"journal":{"name":"Shika zairyo, kikai = Journal of the Japanese Society for Dental Materials and Devices","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13289579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effects of various surface treatments for dentin bonding on dentinal smear removal have been reported by SEM observation. In this study, changes of dentin permeability after the surface treatments were measured using Pashley's technique. Forty-second treatments with either phosphoric acid gel, aqueous phosphoric acid, 10-3 solution or aqueous 10-20 Ca solution (10% citric acid containing 20% CaCl2) produced greater increases in dentin permeability compared with the treatments using either 10-20 Ca gel, Tenure Conditioner, Scotchprep or Gluma 2 for 40 seconds. Treatments with primers including adhesive monomers such as Scotchprep and Mirage Conditioner also increased the dentin permeability by removal of the smear layers and smear plugs. Application of a bonding agent (Clearfil Photobond) for 1 minute did not remove the smear plugs and the dentin permeability remained the same as before the treatment. The changes in dentin permeability were not predictable by SEM observation in some cases.
","PeriodicalId":77622,"journal":{"name":"Shika zairyo, kikai = Journal of the Japanese Society for Dental Materials and Devices","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1990-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13290343","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
