In Turkey the nontaster/taster ratio has been found lower than in the other countries of Europe and Asia (3 ,4 ,8 ,9). With aging the taste sensitivity of tasters does diminish. This contraction in volume of the cell walls is probably due to binding of the ions to wall polymers, including the peptidoglycan layer and the concomitant release of protons. The larvae of Anisakis which is considered to be one of the zoonotic helminths, was found in 75 percent of the tuna fish and 20 percent of the pikeperch. {"title":"Comparative study of beta andreoceptor antagonists on the isolated atria of control and of the reserpine treated rabbits.","authors":"M A Hague,&nbsp;M K Darabi,&nbsp;M R Khalighi","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The effect of four adrenoceptor antagonists, chosen because of reported differences in their selectivities, were compared using the positive chronotropic response to isoprenaline on isolated rabbit atria. Oxprenolol was the most potent antagonist of the isoprenaline induced cardiac arrhythmias. Alprenolol, practolol and propranolol also blocked the positive chronotropic responses to isoprenaline effectively. All the antagonists lowered the resting heart rate. The effects of all four selected antagonists on heart rate probably result from cardiac beta adrenoceptor blockade. Atria isolated from reserpine treated rabbits, showed a reduced percentage of increase in the heart rate in response to addition of isoprenaline. Forty-seven healthy children matched in age and sex were used as controls. Fourteen cases of polioviruses were isolated from the paralyzed children. Of these, 10 isolates were of type one, 2 type two and 2 type three. Among the healthy children two polioviruses were isolated, one type 1 and one type three. A flat delayed glucose response was demonstrated, with hyperinsulinaemia, elevated plasma growth hormone and normal plasma cortisol in heroin addicts compared with control subjects. Stool specimens from over four hundred cases of gastroenteritis among children up to six years of age were examined for the presence of bacterial pathogens and the pattern of drug sensitivity for each pathogenic genus was determined.
