The purpose of the present study is to investigate whether Bulgarian grain producers encounter challenges regarding the compliance and implementation of the \"green architecture\" within the framework of direct payments under the Strategic Plan. In this regard, the possibilities of the grain producers in terms of compliance with the mandatory standards for the good agricultural and ecological condition of the land, as well as the farmers’ attitude to participate in one-year voluntary eco-schemes, were investigated. The survey results show that the most significant difficulties for grain producers are registered in compliance with standards for minimum soil cover to avoid bare soil in periods and areas that are most sensitive and for a minimum share of arable land devoted to non-productive areas and features. Surprisingly, the survey shows significant interest in grain producers' participation in an eco-scheme to reduce the use of pesticides. The worrying results of the research are that amongst the country's producers of grain and oil crops, farmers who did not apply for support under the basic scheme have been identified. Also, part of the grain producers would refuse to participate in support under the European funds because of the increased environmental requirements. Moreover, cereal producers who would give up agricultural activity if the environmental requirements for farmers are further increased have also been identified. In addition to the analysis of available vegetation and terrain conditions, the noise pollution of the environment should also be considered in order to take into account suitable measures for its reduction. The most effective ecological and aesthetic method is the establishment of plant barriers to reduce the noise discomfort. The aesthetically designed vegetative isolation barriers, in addition to the healing effect on the microclimate of the territory, also contribute to the visual aesthetics: bringing in decorative plant species that bloom, have spectacular foliage, have an interesting habit, or the delicate use of aromatic plants and those with phytoncide activity. In recent years, there has been a trend towards expanding urban areas and the concentration of population in urban agglomerations, which leads to many environmental problems. One of them is the lack of territories with trees and shrubs of the forest park type, providing acoustic and aesthetic comfort to the population. The ecological balance of urban territories necessitates a long-term ecological strategy for the creation of similar territories in the urban development plans.","PeriodicalId":7600,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89970417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agriculture is one of the most affected sectors. Considering its vital role as a provider of life-sustaining products and services, as well as business opportunities and employment for millions of people, we are responsible for finding solutions for its long-term development. For thousands of years, agriculture has grown in line with human civilization’s growth. During its evolution, though, many negative externalities have become evident. Some resources disappeared; others were severely damaged or exhausted, threatening the food security of many countries or the whole world. The signals nature has sent us for years have become more and more serious. It is about time to change our philosophy of life and our social and economic models. It is time to focus on knowledge, science and innovations, good practices and experience, and new technologies. The main objective of this paper is to summarize and present some of the most influential concepts of economic growth, analyze its dependence on innovations, and present the potential of new technologies to contribute to the social and economic development of agriculture. Some of the analysis is focused on the theory of economic growth and the ways it can provide sustainable development. The factors influencing the continuing economic growth of agriculture are evaluated, and a methodology for assessing technological efficiency is also presented.","PeriodicalId":7600,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88181313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The seeds were stored in a cold chamber (0-5 °C) for 43- and 44-year period, respectively, in the hermetically sealed glass containers. The experiment was conducted in laboratory conditions, on filter-paper, in three consequent stages: initial screening (Sept/Oct. 2022, sample 1978); 6 seed samples of 100 seeds each: 3 samples from 1978 and 3 samples from 1979 year (Oct/Nov. 2022) and 12 x 100 seeds with the highest germination taken from the previous experimental batch (Nov/Dec.2022). The temperature and air humidity were monitored daily by an Electronic Temperature station. The results from trials Oct./Nov.2022 showed that the highest germination energy (GE) was found in the seed sample from 1978 (65%) while the GE varied between 42 and 46% in the samples of the 1979’ harvest. The maximum percentage of germination, in almost all experimental samples, was achieved on the 14th day and until the end of the experiment remained unchanged. The highest percentage of germination was found in sample from 1978 year - 82%. A statistically significant difference was observed between samples from 1978 and the two samples from 1979 (p≤0.05, ANOVA). The germination process took place at relatively low temperatures and at a relatively small day-night amplitude. The two consecutive experiments confirmed the fact that the seed samples from 1978 year showed a higher germination energy, which could be explained by a higher water content in the seeds which were initially placed in cold storage and were preserved during the storage conditions for the specified long-term period. The high germination rates observed in the present experiment encourages further investigations.","PeriodicalId":7600,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural sciences","volume":"33 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90581556","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During monitoring for the sanitary status of blueberry crops in Southern Bulgaria (Plovdiv region), symptoms of stem cancer, twigs necrotic lesions, leaf spots and low vigour were observed on 3-year-old Duke cv. Four isolates were obtained from damaged stems and leaves and were single-spored. The isolates were recognized as Pestalotiopsis sp. according to the cultural characteristics of the fungal colony (colony color and the presence of fruiting bodies) and morphological characteristics of conidia (color, length, width, number and size of the apical and basal appendages). In a controlled experiment, the representative isolate was pathogenic to the Duke cv. All businesses are exposed to risk. Uncertainty and volatility are growing in the changing world. Usually the risk is associated with the probability of different negative influences on the business process, which can reduce or destroy expected outcomes. Risks cannot be fully avoided in any business, especially in agriculture, but they can be managed in order to minimize their impact. Agricultural producers tend to be exposed to more risks with greater magnitudes compared to other economic sectors, and still the availability of specialized risk management tools is lagging (EC, 2017). The aim of this research is to explore the possible risks in agriculture and the related theoretical concepts for their assessment, as well as to outline some of the most advanced management methods and instruments applied in practice for prevention and control.","PeriodicalId":7600,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural sciences","volume":"84 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77576205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This requires ensuring and maintaining a higher ecological standard for the urban population. One of the axes of such standard is the provision of acoustic comfort to the urban environment, through decorative vegetation for noise dust and gas protection. An urban design should plan and provide eco-zones for every public space in the city, including boulevards and streets. The considered project offers specific solutions with sustainable plant species to achieve acoustic and aesthetic comfort of the environment, taking into account the adjacent environment and the status of the object – a monument of the garden – park art. By means of linear compositions, with physiologically resistant and long-lasting types of vegetation planted in a heavy urban environment, a good result for noise and dust protection was achieved. At the same time, decorative vegetation affects habitus, texture, color and aromas. Through a „Green Tram“ additional horizontal vegetative area is provided a microclimate and low noise pollution level. The research and analysis in the project also formulate the need for an urban planning strategy for ecological planning and organization in order to ensure long-term acoustic comfort for the city’s inhabitants.","PeriodicalId":7600,"journal":{"name":"Agricultural sciences","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82994892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
