It was shown that T and B lymphocytes participate in the increase in the number of lymphocytes during the acute phase of infectious mononucleosis. The increase in the absolute number of T lymphocytes was statistically significant (p < 0.001) as compared with control healthy children, and non-significant as compared with the absolute number of T lymphocytes in children with tonsillitis. The increased absolute number of B lymphocytes with infectious mononucleosis was statistically significant (p < 0.001) as compared with both control groups. Two of the children had a high percentage of atypical lymphocytes and positive titres of EBV-VAC antibodies, mostly comprising nil type lymphocytes. The findings suggest that infectious mononucleosis has probably a more varied immunological picture in children than in adults.</p>","PeriodicalId":75405,"journal":{"name":"Acta paediatrica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae","volume":"21 1","pages":"27-31"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1980-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"17319693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Comparing the measured isoenzyme patterns with those expected from a random coupling of of the subunits, a lower percentage of LDH 5 and a higher one of LDH 4 was detected. The most important dermatoglyphic findings in the patients were: an excess of ulnar loops on the 2nd and 3rd fingers, and radial loops on the 4th and 5th fingers; a paucity of patterns in the thenar/I area; more hypothenar true patterns, specially ulnar loops, higher percentages of patterns in the II and III interdigital spaces with less true patterns in the IV interdigital space; distal position t\" of the axial triradius and large atd angles of more than 70 degrees; high values of the main-line index; predominance of radial type of the C line and higher frequencies of type 11 of the D line. The simian crease, especially the complete variety, had more diagnostic value than the Sydney line. Parathenar patterns which did not seem to have been described previously in mongols, were significantly more frequent in the patients than in controls. The results are very similar to those observed in other countries and it seems that the peculiar dermatoglyphic pattern of patients with Down syndrome is not affected by ethnic influences.</p>","PeriodicalId":75405,"journal":{"name":"Acta paediatrica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae","volume":"21 2-3","pages":"107-21"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1980-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"17508133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
