The focus of this section is the synthesis of updated evidence on comprehensive therapeutic approaches to the condition in adult patients. The methodology described in the first part of the Consensus was followed, with the panel of experts carrying out an exhaustive review of the literature. This was followed by a subsequent debate on the available information, which resulted in the generation of this second section of the document, covering clinical and diagnostic aspects. During the debate and discussion stage of the formulation of these guidelines, it was decided to incorporate some points that are believed to be of great utility for the interdisciplinary team responsible for the management of ADHD patients in adulthood. In this sense, the second part of this document will address the clinical aspects of ADHD in adulthood, diagnostic assessment, neuropsychological profile, comorbidities and differential diagnoses.</p>","PeriodicalId":75297,"journal":{"name":"Vertex (Buenos Aires, Argentina)","volume":"36 167, ene.-mar.","pages":"67-105"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144026317","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This notion, which makes it possible to understand the simultaneity of apparently opposite states, was explored by Wilhelm Weygandt in his seminal work Über die Mischzustände des manisch-depressiven Irreseins (1899). Weygandt, who worked alongside Emil Kraepelin at the Heidelberg Psychiatric Clinic, published this monograph in the same year that Kraepelin consolidated his theory of manic-depressive insanity, marking a significant advance in the understanding of mixed disease states. Weygandt introduced the idea of a polarity shift as the foundation of mixed states, describing how affectivity, psychomotor activity and thought interact in a complex way, with no clear hierarchy between them. This approach, which remains highly relevant, challenges modern classifications, such as the DSM 5, by proposing a comprehensive view of mood disorders that considers the dynamic interactions of all affected areas. Although less recognized than Kraepelin's, Weygandt's work played a crucial role in crystallizing the theory of mixed states, the impact of which endures in contemporary psychiatry.</p>","PeriodicalId":75297,"journal":{"name":"Vertex (Buenos Aires, Argentina)","volume":"36 167, ene.-mar.","pages":"56-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144059464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El objetivo del trabajo fue obtener indicadores de rendimiento del puntaje total y las sub-escalas de la FrSBe para adultos de habla hispana de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina, analizar el efecto de variables demográficas y obtener datos normativos del instrumento. Materiales y métodos: se incluyeron 169 participantes y 83 familiares de esos participantes de Buenos Aires que completaron una encuesta para datos demográficos y la versión en español de la FrSBe. Se calcularon estadísticos descriptivos y se aplicaron modelos de regresión lineal múltiple para analizar el efecto de la edad, la escolaridad y el género sobre las puntuaciones. Resultados: Las variables que mostraron efecto sobre el puntaje total de la FrSBe versión de auto-reporte fueron la edad y la escolaridad. No hubo efecto del género y el modelo no fue significativo para la versión del familiar. Se obtuvieron las medias de rendimiento de los participantes en la escala y se presentan los datos normativos agrupados en tres grupos etarios y cada uno de ellos en dos grupos de escolaridad, del mismo modo que en la versión  original del instrumento.
