It considers Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and modules for power consumption estimation at the design stage. For analog and mixed analog-digital circuit design, the power estimation options in ORCAD Design Suit with PSpice and Analog Filter Wizard are studied. For digital communication systems the study covers the power estimation, analysis and optimization in ISE and Vivado systems, Xilinx Power Estimator (XPE) tool and spreadsheet, the XPower Analyzer, as well as similar tools proposed by ALTERA PowerPlay Early Power Estimator and QUARTUS II Power Play Power Analyzer. {"title":"Prediction of Punching Shear Capacity of Two-Ways FRP Reinforced Concrete Slabs","authors":"I. Kara, Besian Sinani","doi":"10.33107/IJBTE.2017.5.2.03","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33107/IJBTE.2017.5.2.03","url":null,"abstract":"An innovative solution to the corrosion problem is the use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) as an alternative reinforcing material in concrete structures. In addition to the non corrodible nature of FRP materials, they also have a high strength-to-weight ratio that makes them attractive as reinforcement for concrete structures. Extensive research programs have been carried out to investigate the flexural behavior of concrete members reinforced with FRP reinforcement. On the other hand, the shear behavior of concrete members, especially punching shear of two-way slabs, reinforced with FRP bars has not yet been fully explored. The existing provisions for punching of slabs in most international design standards for reinforced concrete are based on tests of steel reinforced slabs. The elastic stiffness and bonding characteristics of FRP reinforcement are sufficiently different from those of steel to affect punching strength. In the present study, the equations of existing design standards for shear capacity of FRP reinforced concrete beams have been evaluated using the large database collected. The experimental punching shear strengths were compared with the available theoretical predictions, including the CSA S806 (CSA 2012), ACI-440.1R-15 (ACI 2015), BS 8110 (BSI 1997), JSCE (1997) a number of models proposed by some researchers in the literature. The existing design methods for FRP reinforced concrete slabs give conservative predictions for the specimens in the database. This paper also presents a simple yet improved model to calculate the punching shear capacity of FRPreinforced concrete slabs. The Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) has gained popularity as a new technology for e-Health, and is considered as one of the key research areas in computer science and healthcare applications. WBAN collects patients’ data, monitors constantly their physiological parameters, using small implantable or wearable sensors, and communicates these data using wireless communication techniques in short range. WBAN is playing a huge role in improving the quality of healthcare. Still, due to sensitive and concurrent nature of e-Heath systems, current research has showed that designers must take into considerations the security and privacy protection of the data collected by a WBAN to safeguard patients from different exploits or malicious attacks, since e-Health technologies are increasingly connected to the Internet via wireless communications. In this paper we outline the most important security requirements for WBANs. Furthermore, we discuss key security threats to avoid. Architecture is the result of a multilayered process influenced by numerous factors. Thus, comprehensive architectural research can only be achieved through a holistic approach and in collaboration with experts from different disciplines. Although interdisciplinary research is a common framework for architectural studies and should be an integral part of the education for future architects, yet, this is not usually the case. With its module entitled “Cultural Spaces – Research on Architecture and Identity” at the TU Wien, a set of courses has been developed to arouse the interest of students of architecture in setting up their own research project. This paper will describe the research approach that is taught in the framework of the module, using the example of the class of 2016, which was focused on the architecture of the world heritage sites of Historic Centres of Berat and Gjirokastra in Albania. architecture as the most evident reflection of their cultural identity. Design and planning within these existing structures require a comprehensive understanding of the cultural spaces and the cultural identity they represent. Encouraging future architects to deal with the different influences on architecture and to research the development of buildings and urban structures, sensitizes their perception and awareness of their importance. In this paper, the results of the students’ projects prove that they had developed an understanding of the need for integrated methods to gain a comprehensive view of architecture. Main characteristics of CDS are considered and analyzed. Today’s mathematical models and approaches cannot provide satisfactory answers to the challenging problems of the society. The key problem of complex dynamic systems and control theory consists in the development of methods of qualitative analysis of the dynamics and behavior of such systems and in the construction of efficient control algorithms for their efficient operation. The purpose of control to bring the system to a point of its phase space which corresponds to maximal or minimal value of the chosen efficiency criterion is reviewed and analyzed. The reasons for using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) in modeling Complex dynamic Systems are provided. The basics of FCMs are briefly presented.
