Grobler","doi":"10.24251/hicss.2022.270","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.24251/hicss.2022.270","url":null,"abstract":"Medical decision-making is moving away from the traditional one-off dyadic encounter between the patient and physician, and transitioning towards a more inclusive, shared decision-making process that also considers the inputs from other stakeholders. This ensures that a patient’s decision is not only based on a medical opinion, but also includes other considerations such as impact on family members, legal and financial implications, and experiences of patients in similar situations. However, given the sensitive nature of health data and decisions, there are several challenges associated with safeguarding the privacy, security and consent of all contributors and assuring the integrity of the process. We propose a collaborative medical decision-making platform that uses a consensus building mechanism implemented using Blockchain-based Smart Contracts to address some of the above challenges, thereby giving the participants confidence that both the decision-making process and the outcome(s) can be trusted. The use of network graphs, where all data is represented as a node, relationship, or property of either, offers a flexible and tailorable methodology able to accommodate the highly iterative process of theory building. This IT artifact was developed to enable aggregation and normalization of data from varied sources and formats to support the acquisition and assessment of literature needed throughout this process. Numerous studies have previously attempted to integrate this social component by incorporating trust into models such as the technology acceptance model (TAM) to decipher the adoption mechanisms related to CAs. Given the heterogeneity of these previous works, the aim of this paper is to integrate empirical evidence on the role and influence of trust within the nomological network of the TAM. For this purpose, we conduct a meta-analytic structural equation modeling approach based on 45 studies comprising k = 155 correlations, and N = 13,786 observations. Our findings highlight the multifaceted role of trust as a mediator transmitting the effects of the technology-related perceptions that drive the intention to use CAs. Our results present a comprehensive overview in a thriving research field that can guide both future theory building and the designs of more trustworthy CAs.","PeriodicalId":74512,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the ... Service underfunding, overworked staff, and the looming threat of further demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic only add to the concerns. Hence it is imperative the efficiencies of these services are maximised to allow better access to quality treatment. We created a Discrete Event Simulation model to replicate the current clinical approach taken in an adult psychology clinic in the U.K.’s National Health Service.
