In many developing countries, including Malaysia, patients suffer from a shortage of trained medical specialists and teleconsultation (TC) would ease access to specialists. The need to know if doctors are willing to accept such technology has prompted this study. The objective of the study therefore was to measure the acceptance, knowledge, and attitude towards tele-consultation among doctors in Conselor Tuanku Muhriz, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (HCTM) and to identify the factors which influence its acceptance. Factors such as socio-demographics, knowledge, attitude, perceived ease of use (PEOU) and perceived usefulness (PU) towards tele-consultation were chosen according to the technology acceptance model (TAM) and some literature. This was a cross-sectional study based on a quantitative method. Data was collected from HCTM outpatient clinics in Cheras area, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March 2017. A total of 90 questionnaires were collected from eight different outpatient clinics in HCTM. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) (version 22.0) was used to analyse the data. The results showed an acceptance rate of 63.3% among doctors in HCTM. The study also showed that perception of usefulness and positive attitude had a significant association with the acceptance of TC. In conclusion, this study has revealed the important factors that have influenced tele-consultation acceptance as perceived usefulness and positive attitude. Furthermore, the overall findings from the study suggest that TAM is an appropriate model for explaining physicians' technology acceptance decisions.","PeriodicalId":73681,"journal":{"name":"Journal of community medicine & health education","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2161-0711.1000606","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70517800","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: Measuring the effect of displacement on mental health of internally displaced people (IDP) by estimating the prevalence of PTSD. Methods: Cross-sectional study was done during the January 2016 at major camp for internal displaced people in west of Baghdad-Abu-Graib camp. A convenient sample was obtained and each participant filled a questionnaire that consisted of socio-demographic, in addition to questions of Iraqi version of Harvard Trauma Questionnaire (HTQ) for assessing the PTSD. Results: 20.8% of the participants had symptoms of PTSD. There was statistically insignificant between gender, marital status education and income with posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms. So the current study aimed to identify the challenges faced by health care provider for home health care among elderly in Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Descriptive design was used for this study among 100 home health care provider. A self-administered questionnaire was used after testing reliability and validity. The result revealed that 77% of the study sample was nurses and 68% was female. Majority of the respondents agree that Saudi community needs home health care. Support from Government agencies and insurance companies for home health care provider considered to be the most challenging. The study found that there was a high statistical significant difference in attitudes between the two groups of health care providers (Gender and Marital status) (with P value 0.10, 0.00 respectively). This study was conducted to explore the nutritional expertise among male high school students. Methods: One high school from each of the six governorates of Kuwait was randomly selected, and the upper three classes of each were given the questionnaire containing two sections. The first section assessed different socio-demographic and health-related characteristics. The second section included 39 exact/false type questions on nutritional knowledge. An overall dietary knowledge score was calculated based on the number of correct answers to questions regarding the nutritional expertise. Overall nutritional understanding and specific dietary domains knowledge scores were described using mean and 95% CI. Spearman correlation was used to find the association between different nutritional domain scores. Results: The highest score was related to a question concerning fibers. A significant medium correlation was observed between calories/food intake and carbohydrates domains. Nutritional knowledge of fibers domain was significantly associated with sodium, fats, and calories/food intake domains and a significant weak correlation of cholesterol with sodium domains. Conclusions: The nutritional knowledge of male high school students was low.","PeriodicalId":73681,"journal":{"name":"Journal of community medicine & health education","volume":"08 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2161-0711.1000627","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70518616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite great progress in improving HIV testing and access to ART for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Sub Saharan Africa, ART coverage remains low and majority of people with HIV are still unaware of their status. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the predictors of HIV continuum care in Gucha Sub County in Kisii, an area with a high HIV prevalence of 8.9% in Kenya. This was carried out through a cross-sectional study and participants were randomly selected amongst HIV positive clients in comprehensive care centers and community based support groups in Gucha. Data was collected using a semi structured interview guided questionnaires Categorical data was analysed using Chi-Square. SPSS was used to compute the statistics. This study revealed that majority 97 (80.17%) of the participants were female since men are less likely to report and enroll in HIV care when they test HIV positive. Male tend to seek health care when severely ill. The study results show that participants had low HIV knowledge to make informed choice only 21 (17.36%) had informed choice. This study reveals that the main determinants of ART uptake are associated with patient's education, food by prescription, site location for patient support centre and privacy. Therefore, there is need to enhance the uptake of HIV care among PLWHA an interventions targeting multiple stage must be designed, which may improve linkages throughout the HIV care continuum in the short and long term. Strategies to improve Identification of the undiagnosed PLHIV and linking them to HIV care and management is a priority in order to achieve UNAIDS goal by 2020.","PeriodicalId":73681,"journal":{"name":"Journal of community medicine & health education","volume":" ","pages":"1-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.4172/2161-0711.1000579","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48825770","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
