The objective of this study was to assess the nutritional status of chronic hemodialysis patients based on anthropometry, bioimpedance and albuminemia. Patients and Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted in two hemodialysis units, having included patients regularly on dialysis, with no history of hospitalization during the last month and consenting. The nutritional evaluation was based on the collection of anthropometric markers, the determination of body composition by bioelectrical impedance analysis and the determination of albuminemia. Results: 68 hemodialysis patients (46.7 years old, 51.5% women) analyzed. The prevalence of undernutrition was 47.1% (95% CI [34.8 – 59.6]) according to BMI, 25% (95% CI [15.3 – 37.0]) according to brachial circumference, by 10.3% (95% CI [4.2 – 20.1]) according to the percentage of ideal weight, by 11.8% (95% CI [5.2 – 21.9]) according to the FM, by 55.9% (95% CI [43.3 – 67.9]) according to the LM index and by 10.3% (95% CI [4.2 – 20.1]) according to serum albumin . Similarly, the prevalence of obesity varied from 8.8% (95% CI [-1.8 – 22.4]) according to BMI and from 36.8% (95% CI [24.7 – 48 ,9]) according to the FM. According to bioimpedance, women on hemodialysis were more exposed to malnutrition than men. Impedance nutritional parameters were thus strongly correlated and agreement with anthropometric parameters in the diagnosis of undernutrition and obesity. Conclusion: Due to its availability and simplicity, bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) has considerable potential as a complement to conventional anthropometric techniques for assessing the nutritional status of hemodialysis patients.","PeriodicalId":72287,"journal":{"name":"Archives of nephrology and urology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"69345122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple SPT placement techniques exist, including open, image-guided, or cystoscope-guided, using either a Seldinger or trochar approach. This case series includes six patients (3 males/3 females, average age = 58.2 years) with neurogenic bladder who underwent SPT placement via trochar technique with subsequent complications. Complications were graded using the Clavien-Dindo (CD) classification and included hematuria, catheter malposition or dislodgement, and organ perforation. Key potential risk factors include history of neurogenic bladder, previous chronic indwelling catheter, altered/abnormal urethral or bladder anatomy, concurrent anticoagulant use, obesity, and prior abdominal surgery. While SPT placement has utility in bladder management, placement with trochar techniques can lead to significant complications. Risk factors must be carefully considered in all patient candidates and alternative placement options via an open approach or with imaging guidance should be considered in select patients.","PeriodicalId":72287,"journal":{"name":"Archives of nephrology and urology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135441323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most commonly it invades the posterior part of the urinary bladder, the ureter or ileum. The incidence of placenta percreta is increasing due to the increased prevalence of Cesarean section, increased maternal age and multiparity, other prior uterine surgeries and dilatation and curettage, endometrial ablation, irradiation to uterus, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and smoking. Placenta percreta with other organs involvement in the pelvis has a high maternal and foetal mortality. Hence multidisciplinary management in tertiary care centre capable of providing massive transfusions can reduce the maternal and foetal mortality.","PeriodicalId":72287,"journal":{"name":"Archives of nephrology and urology","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135711399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
