A sample consisting of six machines classified into three categories (uniaxial tool carriers, single-axle small tractors, cutting machines with a zero turning radius) was tested in practice and functional and operational aspects of the machines were studied on different localities of permanent grass stands. Data measured in the individual machines were used to calculate consumption [l/ha], consumption [l/mth], consumption [l/l of cut biomass] or performance [ha/hour]. The measurements took place on two sites: a site with the permanent grass stand unkempt for a long time and a site regularly maintained by mulching. The study was conducted in the cadastral area of Ostrava City situated in the NE part of the Czech Republic. Results of the study show that the total fuel consumption [l/ha] in the individual mowing machines always at all times higher on plots that were unkempt for a long time. The overall comparison of fuel consumption [l/mth] of the individual types of cutting machines between the localities showed that nearly all tested cutting machines had a higher consumption on sites with permanent grass stands unkempt for a long time. The performance [ha/h] of all cutting machines was higher on the sites that were regularly maintained by mulching in the past.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46617660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we examine the feeding strategy of Eurasian beavers along a number of small (mainly) forested streams in the Czech agricultural landscape. Diet availability in these sparsely forested landscapes is characterised by a lack of woody plants but a large supply of herbaceous vegetation, including agricultural crops grown close to the watercourse. The beaver has adapted to such conditions by building dams on low-water streams, allowing it to move between scattered diet resources. In winter, the main dietary component was woody plants (70% V), with species normally neglected in optimal sites (e.g. Acer negundo, Prunus spp.) taken in the absence of more favoured species (e.g. Salix spp., Populus spp.), the remaining 30%V consisting of herbaceous vegetation. In summer, however, the main component in the diet was herbaceous vegetation (90% F), which included agricultural crops (56% V). Where there were not enough trees, the beaver tended to leave its summer territory and move to stretches with denser tree stands. Thus, beavers in sparsely forested agricultural landscapes have adapted by utilising the diverse supply of herbaceous vegetation, though its continued presence in the landscape is still primarily dependent on sufficient stocks of woody plants, which the beaver needs to survive winter.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48313395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Five fast-growing species (Fraxinus excelsior, Populus alba, Populus nigra, Ulmus laevis, Ulmus minor) and four control species (Acer campestre, Carpinus betulus, Prunus avium, Tilia cordata) were selected. The model site is part of the regional biocentre in Brno. It is a warm area with an increased groundwater level. The planting took place in 2011. Evaluation was done at the turn of 2016/2017 and included measuring the following attributes: the overall height of the specimen, the annual increment of the terminal shoot and the annual increment of six lateral shoots. The highest average values were observed in Populus nigra which, in the context of close results of individual specimens, can be attributed the overall highest growth dynamics. The average terminal shoot increment exceeded 50 cm in all species except for Tilia cordata; in Populus alba and Populus nigra it exceeded 100 cm. Generally, the values of Carpinus betulus, Prunus avium and Tilia cordata were mutually comparable and at the same time lower than the values of woody plants labelled as fast growing. The results for Acer campestre were close to the category of fast-growing species.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47618158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to fulfil this objective, an econometric approach was chosen in the form of a hedonic price model, whereby the heteroscedastic corrected linear regression model was specifically applied. The estimated model shows a very high explanatory ability, together with a high parametric significance for most fictitious variables (land characteristics), and at the same time also fulfils the theoretical and logical consistency of general assumptions. From the results, it is evident that, in the case of Slovakia, ESEU [evaluated soil ecological unit] valuation is affected primarily by the climatic region and the main soil unit. When comparing the results of the effect of individual input factors on the price of land in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it can be stated that the results are slightly different in the effect of certain factors. The characteristics of soils located in warm climatic regions with a valuable soil type of chernozem and low slope are significant and positively intensive factors.","PeriodicalId":7174,"journal":{"name":"Acta Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44793133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
