In particular, demand for high speed data services will increase. These new services require more power and bandwidth than is currently required for speech and low rate data/fax services. High order modulation schemes such as 8 PSK and 16 QAM, when combined with turbo coding provide a good solution in terms of both power and bandwidth efficiency. Moreover, the low operating signal to noise ratio (SNR) of such schemes increases their robustness to interference and distortion. Key issues such as delay, complexity and performance are discussed indicating that significant gains are possible for current and future high speed data services provided by satellite.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"7 1","pages":"435-438 vol.1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83086394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We achieve this by constructing a simple approximation of the buffer overflow probability: Pr(Q>B)/spl ap/De/sup -/spl theta/*B/, where /spl theta/* is the asymptotic decay rate of the tail of the distribution, and D is a prefactor obtained from the Bahadur-Rao theorem. Upper bounds on other QOS parameters, such as cell loss ratio, mean cell delay and cell delay variance, can all be derived from this estimate. It has been shown that this approximation is much more accurate than the pure effective bandwidth one Pr(Q>B)/spl ap/e/sup -/spl theta/*B/, which ignores the statistical multiplexing gain due to a large number of sources. One attraction of the proposed method is that the speed of computation of D and /spl theta/* is independent of the size of the system. Thus our analytical techniques can be implemented fast enough for real-time administration of admission control in ATM networks.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"19 1","pages":"351-356 vol.1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82406499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We have investigated and prototyped an alternate interaction device based on a hand-held touchpad that we believe is practical in a domestic environment where people interact with hypermedia content for education and entertainment in a lounge room like setting. We have evaluated the usability level of the device in human trials and found that it performs better than keyboard-mouse combination, which is one of the most widely used interaction device today.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"82 5 1","pages":"1677-1681 vol.3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89587083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two estimation formulae have been already proposed, but they have some problems which lead to wrong estimation. Discussing the problems based on both experimental results and theoretical considerations, we propose a new estimation formula. The accuracy of the proposed formula, is evaluated for some design examples and compared with that of the conventional formulae.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"10 1","pages":"1303-1307 vol.3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87135429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This procedure requires a monthly fixed sum of money for using the Internet and CP; this is a barrier to suppress the growth of Internet users. To promote high quality commercial Internet services, we must simplify the users' subscribing procedures and charging system. We designed and implemented the Web InfoShop Node (WiN) System. The WiN system has an open architecture for accessing the Internet and CP resources. The users of the WiN system can access the Internet and CP resources without a regular subscribing procedure. Additionally the WiN system can provide various services such as authentication resolution, billing agency and filtering of resources. In this paper, we describe the system configuration, the services provided, and the communication protocols of the WiN system.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"18 1","pages":"143-147 vol.1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88773880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Of the few which do, there is no standard way by means of which multimedia objects are supported. We have tried to use ODBC support for creating an application which supports multimedia objects loosely coupled to any RDBMS which may or may not support multi-media objects. The multi-media objects are stored on a file system distributed over the network and the application developed handles issues like concurrency, integrity and recovery. This loosely coupled approach allows the independent existence of the RDBMS, solves the problem of storage of large amounts of multimedia data by providing a file system that is distributed across nodes of a network.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"59 1","pages":"593-595 vol.1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87420694","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the viewpoint of speech synthesis, it is expected that the more naturally sounding sustained vowels can be synthesized by incorporating the appropriately modeled waveform fluctuations. In this study, the waveform fluctuations of the inverse-filtered normal sustained vowels were analyzed with the aim of high quality speech synthesis. The series of the analyses suggested that the waveform fluctuations could be modeled by the same rule for all speech samples obtained from ten male subjects. In addition, the psychoacoustic experiments confirmed the validity of the method which generates the completely artificial waveform fluctuations for the remarkable enhancement of the quality of sustained vowels.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"21 1","pages":"998-1002 vol.2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90201517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed detector, which can be interpreted as a generalization of the decorrelating detector, achieves interference cancellation by projecting the received signal onto the orthogonal complement of the subspace spanned by the narrowband and multiaccess interference. As to the performance, we consider the case of Rayleigh-fading channel, showing that the new receiver largely outperforms the conventional decorrelating detector, especially in the presence of strong narrowband interferers, at the price of a little additional loss as no narrowband interference is active.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"119 6 1","pages":"849-853 vol.2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90247347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In wireless networks, however, collision detection is difficult to implement, and in such cases CSMA alone may have to be used. It is shown that a multichannel CSMA network can be almost as efficient in utilizing the bandwidth available to the network as an equivalent single channel CSMA/CD network. Furthermore, multichannel CSMA networks provide better throughput and delay performance than equivalent single channel CSMA systems, even when the message generation probability and the number of stations in the network are varied.","PeriodicalId":71361,"journal":{"name":"信息通信技术","volume":"2 1","pages":"1045-1049 vol.2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1997-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82170084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
