A common approach for this is the study of electroencephalography (EEG) recordings, using signal processing techniques and, more recently, machine learning algorithms. A four-stage system is developed for patient-specific seizure prediction; consisting of pre-processing, dimensionality reduction, feature extraction and classification between interictal and preictal EEG signals. A hybrid method using principal component analysis (PCA) and independent component analysis (ICA) is applied for dimensionality reduction. Nonlinear features are selected for the analysis and characterization of the signals. A Hidden Markov Model (HMM) with Gaussian mixture emissions is trained for each type of signal and evaluated as a classifier. A sensitivity of 0.95 and a specificity of 0.86 were achieved.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"30 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78353209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If an infectious disease spreads rapidly and affects a big population, it is vital to have effective control schemes that optimize the amount of available resources to mitigate the propagation of the disease, before it becomes a risk condition for public health systems. Inspired by this idea, we consider an extension of the SIR epidemic model and study the application of an impulsive control action to this system that minimizes vaccines and treatment given to population, using an inverse optimal control (IOC) approach.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"240 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76916524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an analysis of a semi-active suspension system is carried out to assess the effect of the implementation of a single control loop on the perturbation rejection characteristics of both comfort and road holding. By using the ‘individual channel analysis and design’ tool adapted for single-input multiple-output systems, a fundamental quantification of the coupling between the comfort and road holding is obtained to establish control strategies providing the best trade-off between them. The quarter of vehicle model (commonly used for the analysis of this kind of systems) is used to model the plant, leaving the actuator's non-linearity out of the scope of the analysis and focusing exclusively on the comfort and road holding relationship.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"115 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79039450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The incorporation of an embedded Linux operating system opens the possibilities of communication and execution of software as if it were a personal computer, as an example in this work, a 3-axis accelerometer is used. By integrating the above elements, a digital tool capable of covering the need for remote monitoring in real time is accomplished with a web server and connecting the FPGA through the Ethernet port by the TCP / IP protocol.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"13 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79644379","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is studied and evaluated the application of DM as a tool to analysis qualitatively and quantitatively the register obtained by an eye movement tracking device, eye-tracking, when bring under to people with different levels of orthographic knowledge (OK: High, Medium and Low), in the face of two tasks; (i) detection of spelling error and (ii) in the detection of a simple character, in the brief exposure (1500 milliseconds) of words without and with misspelling. It used some analytical procedure series of DM such as: the search for response patterns; the creation of secondary variables; the use of classification of trees and grouping the data (k-means). New models were created as of the distance between the position of the spelling error and the position of the gaze of the participants. Differences in the visual attention were found between the participants; in the same way, it was observed that the misspelling influences the performance of the task (ii), diverting visual attention to spelling error, in the participants with High OK. It is concluded that the DM helps to find the particularities of eye movements from large volumes of data that generates eye-tracking, which cannot be analysed with simple procedures.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"57 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81571404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Digital processing techniques have been applied to evaluate their performance to detect these micro changes, some of them, with excellent results. In this paper, linear cepstrum technique was applied, as an alternative tool, to assess it performance in the estimation of micrometric separation between laminar structures. A basic mechanism controlled fixed increments (of 500 micrometers) of the separation between two low density polyethylene laminar layers that simulates biological membranes while an inspection system, based on ultrasound, was used to acquire the echo-signals. Previously to processing, the set of these signals were filtered and segmented, then they were added in pairs to be processed with cepstrum technique. In all cases, a quefrency peak value related to the inter-layers separation of 500 micrometers was found. Resultant distances were compared with reference measurements and an average error of 3.45 percent, i.e. 17.7 micrometers, was estimated.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"61 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85114200","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are also programmed to initial state values according to one assignment optimization task, taken here as an application vehicle. The whole matrix accomplishes a parallel competitive computation, where a winner-take-all mechanism is inherent by architecture. The expected complexity due to area in silicon of this memristive circuit and its connectivity are moderate, as is evident from observing its electrical diagram. Also, its performance is acceptable as proven via SPICE simulations, using 0.5-micron CMOS process. Lower processing time might be possible with latest CMOS technologies.","PeriodicalId":6924,"journal":{"name":"2018 15th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88261896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
