However, practical application in anti-fouling coatings faces inherent limitations, including low photocatalyst utilization, poor long-term stability, and insufficient exposure of the active site. Herein, a COF/g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction photocatalyst with enhanced light response and utilization is prepared by in situ growth of hollow tubular 1D-COF on a flake-like 2D g-C 3 N 4 surface. Inspired by biological molting, the heterojunction is further integrated with a degradable poly-Schiff base polymer (DSP) to fabricate a hybrid anti-fouling coating (D-COF/CN x ) that exhibits both biofouling-release and photocatalytic bactericidal activity. Leveraging a “water-triggered and reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive” dual degradation mechanism, the coating realizes desirable self-renewal and sustained exposure of photocatalytic active sites. Exposed COF/g-C 3 N 4 efficiently facilitates the separation and transfer of photogenerated charge carriers, boosting the bactericidal ROS yield by 1.99 to 2.61 folds compared to pristine g-C 3 N 4 and COF-1. Under the synergistic effect of photocatalytic sterilization and biofouling release, the coating achieves a nearly 100 % fouling-free surface at an ultra-low loading of 5% under high-biofouling conditions (10 8 to 10 9 CFU mL –1 ), thereby markedly reducing bacterial/microalgal adhesion and biofilm formation. After prolonged service, it retains excellent cyclic antibacterial stability and mechanical durability, providing novel insights for developing high-performance and versatile photocatalytic coatings with long-lasting biofouling resistance. Inspired by animal skin self-renewal, a self-renewing photocatalytic hybrid coating (D-COF/CN x ) integrates COF/g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction into a water-triggered degradable polymer matrix. This innovative structure enables a synergistic antifouling mechanism, combining highly efficient photocatalytic sterilization with dynamic surface self-renewal for fouling removal. The coating demonstrates nearly 100 % anti-fouling efficiency even under ultra-low photocatalyst loading (5 wt%) and high-biofouling conditions (10 8 –10 9 CFU/mL). • A 1D/2D photocatalytic heterojunction was efficiently constructed by in situ growth of hollow tubular COFs on flake-like g-C 3 N 4 . • The regulated IEF and CTC significantly enhance the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers. • An innovative photocatalytic self-renewal synergistic strategy enables sufficient and sustained exposure of photocatalytic active site. • D-COF/CN x achieves nearly 100 % antifouling performance even under low photocatalyst loadings and high-biofouling conditions. • The high-efficiency synergistic antibacterial mechanism of D-COF/CN x is elucidated.","PeriodicalId":69154,"journal":{"name":"Nano Materials Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2026-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147915532","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we report a nitrogen-doped 1T/2H-MoS 2 /Co 9 S 8 /CdS ternary nanozyme synthesized via a urea-mediated hydrothermal route. Urea acts as a bifunctional agent, simultaneously stabilizing the metastable 1T-MoS 2 phase and introducing sulfur vacancies through nitrogen substitution. This defect-phase engineering optimizes the electronic structure, as evidenced by a 0.2 eV positive shift in Mo 3d binding energy, and exposes coordinatively unsaturated Mo sites that accelerate hydroxyl radical (•OH) generation. Coupled with the redox activity of Co 9 S 8 and the adsorption capability of CdS, the composite exhibits markedly enhanced peroxidase-like activity, characterized by higher catalytic turnover and stronger H 2 O 2 affinity compared to undoped systems. A colorimetric sensor constructed from this platform enabled ultrasensitive HQ detection with a detection limit of 0.29 μM and excellent recoveries (100.18% to 101.64%) in spiked real water samples, while maintaining strong selectivity and operational stability. However, thermal performances of materials at small scale are essential to the fabrication process. Although researchers have tried to apply sublimation of materials as potential atomic scale fabrication technique for device miniaturization, there exists limited controllability for possible applications. In this work, we studied the thermal performances of silver nanowires (Ag NWs) under in situ transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and found two distinctive but inherently related phenomena. The Ag NWs evaporated discontinuously at nano scale and left with sharp edges of Ag (111) plane. With high resolution TEM imaging, the atomic Ag (111) planes sublimate layer by layer. Furthermore, the sublimation rate of atomic Ag (111) plane is analyzed for faithful controllability. Thus so, such atomic layer removal (ALR) process in silver achieved simply by heating has great potential to be used as efficient atomic manufacturing technique to promote device miniaturization to facilitate the blooming artificial intelligence.","PeriodicalId":69154,"journal":{"name":"Nano Materials Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2026-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147895690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Herein, we first design four kinds of silicon dioxides (SiO 2 ) spheres that are widely explored and employed due to high infrared emissivity, to analyze the intrinsic mechanism between micro-morphologies and reflectivity properties. Besides, applicable to real application, we further add dendritic SiO 2 spheres with highest reflectivity into polyurethane (PU) resin, thus achieving an advanced PU-based film. Based on reflectivity of 95.5% and IR emissivity of 94.5%, the PU/dendritic SiO 2 composite film achieves sub-ambient temperatures of ∼7.9 °C and ∼7.3 °C, in nighttime and daytime, respectively. Attributed to its large specific surface and dendritic structure, SiO 2 spheres effectively suppress the escape of pyrolysis products that are further captured and converted into protective layer, by increasing melting viscosity. Consequently, the time and value of peak heat release rate in composite films are postponed by 13 s and decreased by 48.4%, respectively. However, accurately modulating afterglow behavior as well as trap states of LPL materials is highly tricky. Herein, the temperature-dependent trap engineering in Cu 2+ -doped SrGa 2 O 4 (SGOC) phosphors for tunable afterglow emission is demonstrated. By changing the sintering temperature, the luminescence and afterglow performances of SGOC can be well tuned. A series of characterizations confirmed that increasing calcination temperature results in the formation of a higher concentration of oxygen vacancy defects in SGOC, which can bring out more traps in its band gap and move the trap position to a deeper region, so as to achieve longer and stronger afterglow performance. The theoretical calculations support the role of Cu 2+ in narrowing the bandgap and enhancing electron localization in SGOC for red luminescence and afterglow emission. By virtue of their distinct afterglow and luminescence performance, the SGOC phosphors obtained at different calcination temperatures for advanced anti-counterfeiting and time-resolved information encryption were demonstrated. The temperature-dependent trap engineering proposed in this work can inspire some new concepts in exploring LPL materials with multi-mode emission for advancing information anti-counterfeiting and encryption applications. However, the construction of photonic crystal (PC) with COF remains a challenge. In this work, we developed a new type of COF PC, which had an inverse opal array structure, called covalent organic framework - inverse opal photonic crystal (COF-IOPC). The COF-IOPC was prepared by sacrificial template method, which was simple and rapid. The SiO 2 microspheres was used to prepare the opal template through the restricted meniscus self-assembly method, and then, the COF pre-reaction solution was added to fulfill the crevices of the opal template. By controlling the size of the SiO 2 particles of the opal template, the photonic band gap of the COF-IOPC could be manipulated to exhibit different structural colors. Furthermore, the COF-IOPC could be used to detect Aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1 ) without label. In the light of chlorophylls, the CsPbBr 3 QD decorated Ti 3 C 2 nanosheets (CQDTs) are in-situ synthesized with a controllable emission wavelength range from 455 nm to 505 nm at room temperature. The growth rate of CsPbBr 3 QDs can be retarded due to a relatively lower total energy during the adsorption of precursors on Ti 3 C 2 nanosheets, thus the improved monodispersity of resulting QDs in turn results in the photoluminescence quantum yield at 505 nm (∼100%) and at 455 nm (∼42%). Providing with the strong binding energy between CsPbBr 3 QDs and Ti 3 C 2 nanosheets, the decomposition of perovskite can be efficiently hindered, endowing an excellent stability.
