Its long and complex tectonic evolution, coupled with a limited history of exploration in the region, has left many unanswered questions about its geodynamical evolution, basement relief, and stratigraphy. This under-explored geological province has neither the high-quality structural data nor the quantitative models necessary to plan future exploration work. A dedicated workflow was applied with the objective to investigate from regional to basin understanding in the Chihuahua area by means of integrating seismci and potential field data, in which, for the first time, the interpretation of the latter anticipated interpreting the seismic data and it provided an uplift to the geological understanding of the area of interest.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85672799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such information and its associated uncertainties are critical since they can greatly improve the decision-making process while drilling as well as improve the planning of new wells in structurally complex reservoirs.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85882945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method for wavelet estimation can be classified into two categories. One is deterministic and the other is statistic. For the latter, a conventional method uses a spectrum fitting method to estimate the seismic wavelet. The commonly used methods are correlation-based method, the log-spectrum-averaging method and spectrum-shaping method. All of these methods assume that the reflection coefficient sequence (RCS) is white and the source wavelets are zero-phase which may not be valid under certain conditions. In this paper, we propose a new approach to obtain the seismic wavelet based on deep neural network (DNN). We compare the wavelet obtained by our method with the wavelet obtained by widely used spectrum modeling method. Then, the obtained wavelet is applied to perform the inversion of the RCS using the HPP algorithm. Compared with the conventional method, DNN can achieve a more accurate wavelet even if source wavelet is not zero-phase. The resolution of reflectivity inversion is significantly enhanced by using the obtained wavelet.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85951703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Upper Cretaceous and Upper Eocene organic matter-rich deposits were found in the OPD Leg 160 boreholes along the Eratosthenes Seamount, south of Cyprus and within the Upper Miocene strata onshore Cyprus. The geochemical results indicate a mainly marine type of organic matter that was deposited as a result of upwelling systems above the seamount. Onshore, nutrients were derived together with clastic material, leading to increased bio-productivity. These results together with literature data for Cretaceous source rocks along the Levant Margin were the base for a large scale stratigraphic forward model, which was used to simulate the distribution of different sediments including organic matter within the respective intervals. The simulations could reproduce organic matter-rich deposits along the Levant margin as well as on top of the Eratosthenes Seamount. The simulated intervals are in accordance with published facies maps and show relatively small thickness errors compared to depth-converted seismic horizons. These models can provide valuable process-based facies input parameters for petroleum system modelling.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76840032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Dealing with high default risk conditions, increased volatility and a downward trend in oil prices since 2015, oil and gas companies are advised to hold on to the mantra of capital discipline (cost reduction, standardization, collaboration) and refocus investment and efforts on asset maintenance. On the other hand, the oil and gas industry in Indonesia is one of the source of state revenues and as a provider of basic energy needs for economic growth. The decrease in upstream oil and gas investment is a bad signal for the country's budget and energy in the future. Declining production levels (marginal fields and no significant new discoveries) are the main causes of this problem. Oil imports as a solution to the deficit is a poor signal both national energy security and exchange rate stability. For this reason, the Indonesian government needs giant discoveries as one of the solutions for the above problems. With all above reason, the Government of Indonesia need to take a corrective and make improvisation actions in order to provide incentives and improve existing investment climate to support massive exploration activities.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"321 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76896522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A wide range of case studies from hard rock environments are covered, for example, from South Africa and Canada.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"2 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81132760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The FD-CSI method is an iterative nonlinear inversion method, which exhibits several strengths. First, the finite-difference operator only relies on the background media and the given frequency, both of which are unchanged during inversion. Therefore, the full forward problem is required to be solved only once at the beginning of the inversion process, which makes the method very computationally efficient and ideal for large-scale 3D inversion calculations. Another attractive feature of the inversion method is that it is with strong capability in dealing with nonlinear inverse problems in an inhomogeneous background medium, because a 25 points finite-difference operator is used to represent the differential operator governing the two-dimensional elastic wave propagation. Numerical reconstruction results show that the inversion method has an excellent performance for reconstructing P-wave and S-wave and can provide more accurate velocity information for seismic data processing and interpretation.","PeriodicalId":6840,"journal":{"name":"81st EAGE Conference and Exhibition 2019","volume":"75 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83601143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
