The proposed PRL is constructed by two arrays of two different partially reflective unit-cells (PRUCs) arranged on both faces of the same substrate. The PRL is used as a superstrate over a dual-layer printed antenna. Broader impedance and 3-dB gain bandwidths of about 39.25 % and 41.13% are achieved. Thus, the designed single-layer PRL is very useful for boosting the 3-dB gain and the impedance bandwidths of X-band printed antennas.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"32 1","pages":"1905-1906"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86717074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve the dual-polarization, a primary patch is introduced with orthogonal microstrip-feeds in the same layer with a low profile, low cost and low back lobe level. Furthermore, the single-feed and differential-feed are adopted for vertical polarization (VP) and horizontal polarization (HP), respectively, to enhance the port isolation. A $2times 2$ metasurface is presented for wideband operation and the CMA is used to determine the modal behaviors of the entire structure. Simulation results show that the return losses of both ports are better than 10 dB and the isolation is higher than 20 dB over 30.1-39.6 GHz. The simulated gain ranges 4.7-6.9 dBi and 7-7.5 dBi for VP and HP, respectively.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"08 1","pages":"1287-1288"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91528912","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The innovative approach requires the heating of a liquid water film layer, which can be sprayed onto the area of interest. Applications include the deactivation of the coronavirus and other pathogens by physically increasing the liquid film temperature achieving thermal sterilization. The proposed technique can be implemented by various antenna systems and retrodirective arrays. In this study, a dual-polarized antenna array is adopted and designed to increase the transmitted power levels without physically including more antenna elements. As reported in the paper, this dual-polarized approach has the benefit of reduced sterilization time when compared to a single-polarization system having the same number of antenna elements.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"62 1","pages":"459-460"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90152474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By adapting to the two characteristics of a reflectarray antenna that changes beam directions using frequency and polarization, it is possible to realize a multi-scanning beam whose performance is as good as a conventional multi-spot beam with one reflecting mirror. Herein, we examine a scanning-spot beam that changes the beam direction by using frequency in the elevation direction and polarization in the azimuth direction in the Ka band. As a result, the proposed design efficiently covered the desired service area.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"216 1","pages":"1921-1922"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88918392","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed dual-band array consists a low-band (LB) element and a $4times 4$ high-band (HB) antenna array. The LB element is located at the center of the HB array which is shielded under the LB element radiator. In the normal case, strong blockage effect from the LB on HB elements would exists. By adding split ring resonators (SRRs) along the LB radiator, the LB element scattering in the high-band can be suppressed. As a result, the blockage effect of the low scattering LB element on the HB array is indistinct. The proposed blockage reduction method is suitable for multi-band aperture-shared antenna array.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"396 1","pages":"1789-1790"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80551979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The filter topology comprises a feeding network at a top layer that excites eight open loop resonators embedded in the ground plane. The shape of the resonators is inspired by the vasculature anatomy of a human arm. The embedded resonators are designed to resonate at 8 different frequencies in order to track the variations of the glucose level across the 1.5 GHz - 2.4 GHz frequency span. Furthermore, the filter's frequency operation is also tuned by relying on integrated varactors in order to enhance the sensor's dynamic responsiveness to glucose variations. The proposed tunable filter is fabricated and tested on diabetic rats, and in a clinical setting. A high correlation between the scattering parameters of the proposed sensor and the variations in glucose levels is noted. A Gaussian Process regression model is also developed using data obtained from experiments. Results demonstrate that the proposed sensor detects glucose variation with an accuracy that reaches 98.55% well within clinically acceptable performance.","PeriodicalId":6801,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting (APS/URSI)","volume":"22 1","pages":"805-806"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79106013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
