While a magnitude of food waste is generated by individual and household, consumers’ attitudes and behaviors play a vital role in the food supply chain. However, systematic research on food waste through consumer perspectives, especially in the consumer/household level, is missing. This study tries to explore the cultural and psychological factors that influence consumers' ethical norms and behavioral intention toward food waste based on Hunt and Vitell's ethical decision-making model. The results show that consumers would face an ethical dilemma when they decide to act for self-interests or social conflict. Materialism and individualism can significant influence consumers’ ethical norms. Consumers’ ethical behavioral intentions toward food waste would be also affected by ethical norms. Exploring and understanding consumer motives toward food waste attitudes and behaviors can submit some insights based on this study’s findings to avoid food waste behavioral intentions and thus to decline social and environmental damage. Some theatrical and managerial contributions are finally discussed in this study.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"69 1","pages":"16-19"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74994415","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Smart grid concepts have been applied to the power systems to tackle those issues aforementioned. Smart grid is a system which relies importantly on automation in substations using IEDs with the IEC 61850 standard. In this paper, IEDs information models were defined and configured for test based on substation protection strategy and control logic. As mentioned earlier, renewable energy resources are critical and important in Smart Grid, therefore, this paper explicitly explained how several multi-vender wind turbines were integrated by the Gateway that converted the wind turbines information from OPC to IEC 61400-25 information models. An IEC 61850 based SCADA system was developed.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"54-58"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84081637","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effects of potassium carbonate loading rate, absorption temperature, absorption time, absorbant quality and cycle times on the absorption quantity of CO2 were studied. The surface morphology characteristics of the absorbents were observed by SEM, and the optimum operating conditions for the absorption of CO2 were studied and analyzed. The experimental results show that the addition of sodium humate significantly improves the absorption performance of potassium carbonate to CO2. The optimum loading rate is 50%, the most appropriate reaction temperature is 60, and the best absorption time is 15 minutes.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"136 1","pages":"30-34"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77478322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Supply-side structural reform, as a main line of economic transformation, will have profound impacts on economic growth rate, industrial structure, and growth momentum. In-depth analysis of the impact of supply-side structural reform, scientific research and analysis of electricity demand growth trends, has profound implications for the development of the electricity industry. By building a electricity demand forecasting model adapting to supply-side structural reform and forecasting China's electricity demand, China's electricity demand is expected to continue to grow steadily. In 2035 and 2050, its electricity demand will reach 1245 GWh to 1324 GWh and 1409 GWh to 1534 GWh. The tertiary industry and residential electricity demand will become the main driving force for the growth of total electricity demand. In key industries, the contribution rate of manufacturing industry exceeds high energy consumption industry.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"44 1","pages":"69-73"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82775636","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previous efforts have proposed a number of statistical models for the prediction of residential energy consumption, while the accuracy and predictability of different models are still highly uncertain. In this study, we explore the effective temporal scale of residential energy use prediction, using the-state-of-the-art machine learning techniques: a fully connected Artificial Neutral Network (ANN) and a Recurrent Neural Network (RNN). For RNN modeling, the Long-Short-Term-Memory (LSTM) realization is employed. We find that ANN model in general has higher predictability than LSTM. Specifically, neither ANN nor LSTM is able to well predict high frequency fluctuation of residential energy use (~10 minutes) due to short-term random error. While, across a relatively longer time frame (from 24 hours to 48 hours), ANN model performs reasonably well and works much better than LSTM. From the perspective of dominating factors, room temperature and humidity are the most relevant ones to predict the building residential energy use. This work will facilitate the energy use prediction and decision-making within the framework of smart grid.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"20-24"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90988126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four basic algae photobioreactors were constructed to investigate the effectiveness of Chlorella species to reduce direct sunlight transmission and solar heat gain in the Tropical climate of Kuala Lumpur. From the experiment, algae flat panel photobioreactor with direct carbon dioxide supply manage to reduce up to 44.9% of heat gain due to solar radiation on average. The overall solar transmission was also reduced to only 25% on average. These indicate that algae have the potential to be used as sun shading material for buildings.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"25-29"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89584365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When the distribution of energy consumption in buildings is examined, it is seen that the most important part is air conditioning systems. Therefore, improving the energy consumption of air conditioning systems or using more efficient systems have great importance. The factors affecting the energy consumption of air conditioning systems are system type, capacity, design, operation and climate conditions and user interventions.Yasar University is the first University having the TS EN ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System Standard Certification in Turkey. Since the buildings and their systems are different in the Campus, the new performance indicators are necessary to evaluate energy performance of the buildings. In this regard, addition to existing energy metering system, thermal comfort measurement devices were installed in some classes and offices in the campus.In this study, performance assessment of two buildings in the Campus of Yasar University has been done based on their specific energy consumption and provided thermal comfort to the classes. Thus, the relationship between energy consumption and thermal comfort in buildings is revealed and suggestions are presented to increase energy efficiency.","PeriodicalId":6679,"journal":{"name":"2019 2nd Asia Conference on Energy and Environment Engineering (ACEEE)","volume":"157 1","pages":"7-11"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90982178","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
