The antenna is composed of two layers of microstrip patches, a folded ground plane and three choke rings. Simulated and measured results show that two frequency bands for return loss >10 dB cover GPS L2 (1.193~1.247 GHz) and GPS L1 (1.545~1.625 GHz) with good axial ratio (AR) performance. The radiation patterns with AR<;3 dB cover the whole half upper space and the forward to backward ratio (FBR) is higher than 30 dB in the operating bands. A Ka-band planar reflectarray with 30 dB gain and 40 degree scan coverage is demonstrated. The first layer is a pixelized Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) engineered to exhibit the response of a series RLC circuit. The FSS is placed at a small but useful distance above a mushroom-type artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). The admittances of the two structures cancel each other resulting in an almost zero input reactance within the frequency range of interest. By analyzing the radiation eigenmodes of the UAV platform, optimal NVIS patterns are constructed, and mounting locations which maximize desirable antenna-platform coupling are identified. The optimal NVIS pattern is then approximated using discrete monopole antennas as feeding elements. The excitation level of each feed can be inferred by relative excitation of each UAV characteristic mode in the NVIS pattern. This solution typically leads to impractically large devices, losses and it is incompatible with integrated circuit technology. We discuss here a different approach to realize non-reciprocal microwave components and materials, based on biasing meta-molecules with the angular-momentum vector. We show that this solution can provide as large non-reciprocity and isolation as magnetically-biased ferrite components, but without their drawbacks. In particular, we present the design and realization of an integrated, magnetic-free, compact microwave circulator realized with conventional circuit components on a dielectric substrate, fully compatible with integrated circuit technology. By using appropriate spatiotemporal modulation of a magnetic-free distributed-element resonating ring, we report over 47 dB isolation and a deeply subwavelength size. A method has been developed which, for a certain desired beam waist, can be used to optimize the horn profile for high Gaussicity and ultra-low sidelobes. The simulated performance of the horn achieves a beam waist of 1.9 mm over the band 323-357 GHz with Gaussian coupling efficiency exceeding 98%. The peak cross-polar sidelobes are below -28 dB over the required frequency band. For cost effective manufacturing with high repeatability, the smooth wall spline profile is drilled in out from a metal block using a custom made broach. Indeed, an original demonstration of the shadow contour theorem (from Ufimtsev) is given which shows that the shadow component of PO does not depend on the shape of the object, but only on its contour. Moreover, we also show mathematically that the reflected component of PO vanishes in the forward scattering (FS) direction.
