Due to the characteristics of the Brushless DC motor such as high efficiency, hig h power factor, high torque, low maintenance and ease of control, it is widely used in variable speed drives and industrial applications. The flexibility of the drive system can be increased by using dsPIC Digital Signal Controller which combines the features of Microcontroller and Digital Signal Processor on a single chip. The BLDC motor is excited by a Four Switch Three Phase Inverter with minimum number of switches which in turn reduce the associated amount of switching losses. It results in low electromagnetic interference, less complexity of control and reduced interference circuits. Much of the available literature focuses on maximizing harvested power through nonlinear processing circuits that require accurate knowledge of generator internal, mechanical and electrical characteristics and idealization of the input vibration source. Utilizing piezoelectric methods of harvesting energy require the conversion of AC to usable DC form. The purpose of this paper is to discuss and compare the various directions for rectification, which is the processing of the AC outputs of energy harvesting systems into regulated low voltage DC suitable for powering low power electronics. The three basic methodologies of energy harvesting, which will be compared, is full-wave bridge rectifier with passive diodes, full-wave bridge rectifier circuit with schottky diodes and Bi-MOS circuit for rectification which involves the combination of MOSFETs and BJTs. The modeling and the simulation study is carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK. In such systems, unexpected failures need to be minimized by effective fault diagnosis methods. Induction motors are used as prime movers in most industrial machinery. Therefore, effective fault diagnoses of induction motors are vital in achieving the minimal downtime and production targets. In this work, a comparative study between spectrum analysis of an Enveloped signal with that of traditionally used Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) of motor current i.e. Motor Current Signature Analysis (MCSA) is performed. Nowadays, Inverter fed drives are commonly used for speed control operations. These drives generate noise and harmonics in the supply line which hinders the MCSA in fault detection. This paper investigate the effectiveness of MCSA and Current Envelope analysis for detection of broken rotor bar and inter turn fault in an inverter fed induction motor drive. As the distribution systems were not designed to have a wide presence of dispersed generation units, the impacts of bidirectional power flow will be significant on all equipments. This will lead to unforeseen variations in voltage profile of the system. This paper analyses the impact of this dispersed generation on the voltage profile of distribution system. To quantify the impact, case studies are carried out on a practical distribution system using MiPowerTM and the simulation results are presented to arrive at the maximum allowable PV penetration considering voltage level constraints. This paper proposes a method to evaluate the optimal generation of a particular day considering Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method, Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) and Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) multi-criteria decision making technique. Most of the cases remain mystery because of lack of evidences or them being tweaked. The situation is noxious and we propose a system that would aid the victims not only to send a panic and alert message but also collect evidences in the form of images. We propose a system initiated by a human action. It is also given with an option of switch button and a fall detector to activate the system. The armband would have a controller with GSM/GPS kit interfaced. The band would also be interfaced with a wireless camera for collecting images. A human action would initiate the system. On initiation, the video collected is live video streamed to the Control room. An alert message along with the location is sent to a predefined Mobile Station until the system is reset. Since change in Longitude and Latitude is sent continuously, the person can be tracked. Electricity generated using photovoltaic cells is pollution free. Grid connected PV systems generate power from the sun light and supply power to utility grid. Grid connected PV system is composed of a DC/DC converter, PWM inverter and a step-up transformer. A boost converter is used to stabilize the output voltage of the PV cells, which provides power to the SPWM inverter. Zero crossing PLL is used to synchronize the inverter with the grid. The active and reactive power can be transferred by controlling the phase angle and magnitude of the inverter output voltage. The local load connected to the system will receive the active and reactive power. At the same time, reactive power can be transferred to the grid by increasing the inverter voltage slightly keeping the phase angle between inverter voltage and grid voltage zero. The variation in inverter voltage to allow reactive power compensation is restricted by the voltage tolerance of the local load. The PD information is lost in the presence of various noises. The wavelet transform (WT) based denoising provides a better platform for pre and post processing of PD signal. The wavelet adaptive Thresholding de-noising techniques are well suited for reducing the noise. This paper adopts the various adaptive thresholding techniques such as VisuShrink, SureShrink, combination of the two called Heursure, minimax thresholding and BayesShrink, which are broadly classified as Global and Local thresholding methods. The algorithm presents the comparative analysis for the selection of optimal mother wavelet. Once the optimal mother wavelet is chosen, selection of the best thresholding rule is identified by comparing the values of signal to noise ratio (SNR), mean square error (MSE) and Peak Signal to Noise ratio (PSNR) of all the techniques. The algorithm also presents the comparison between Hard and Soft thresholding. It is shown that the soft thresholding is best suited to remove the noise compared to hard thresholding. The simulated Damped Exponential Pulse (DEP) and Damped Oscillatory Pulse (DOP) has been used.
