In this paper, two most commonly implemented approach, e.g. both ends bonded and cross-bonded, are discussed. Comparison between the bonding method is based on permitted sheath circulating current and induced voltage levels. Results from network load flow, fault and lightning analysis are presented. In addition, the effect of various number of cross-bonding points along the cable is shown. Results of this paper are important for transmission network planners.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"88 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81419951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a design and implementation of an advanced vehicle-vehicle (V2V) operation, which is used to transfer energy between two electric-vehicle (EV) on-board chargers. EV owners can trade their vehicles' stored energy using this V2V operation without affecting the operation of the grid. The proposed V2V operation, which is less focused in the literature, needs to be considered in the design of each individual EV charger. An internet-of-things (IoT) platform based on the message queue telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol is also designed and implemented to govern interactions between EV owners and among EV chargers.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"43 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81929338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most performant and reliable devices, used as main components to perform this operation, are Metal Oxide Varistors (MOV, or ZnO) surge-arresters. These complex devices are ceramic materials, including different metal oxides, mostly Zinc Oxide (ZnO, around 90% in mass percentage). These electronic devices can work better only if modifying their manufacturing process or by introducing other new additives, which can improve the electrical parameters of the ceramic semi-conductor material, especially on the non-linear dependence between the applied voltage and their response as resulting crossing current. This article is based mostly on an empirical process which can conduct to new semiconductor materials, by modifying some thermal parameters only. This article will describe the influence of the sintering temperature over the main electrical properties, for two newly conceived varsitor materials, only 2 and only 5 main dopants (additives).","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"10 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84863389","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, nonlinear characteristic of the arc furnace and its stochastic behavior bring about many problems, e.g. voltage flicker and waveform distortions. The AC furnaces are usually modelled using combined models which divide the phenomenon taking place in real objects into a deterministic and a stochastic or chaotic parts. The former can be expressed by a nonlinear differential equations. The paper goal was to take advantage of the earlier results, i.e. a closed form of the solution to one of the most popular nonlinear differential equations used for the AC electric arc modelling, and start research towards a complete EAC model which covers not only the deterministic but also the time-varying nature of the arc waveforms. Such a model can be helpful, among others, in solution to power quality problems in EAF supplying networks. Theoretical considerations have been illustrated by some examples and the results have been compared with measurements.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"131 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85136956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, they are strongly interconnected and rely on the well-functioning of each other, and they are also interconnected with the information technology infrastructures. The target of this work is to perform a risk assessment of gas transmission networks. In the work is identified of key initiating events (failures of grid facilities) that may trigger cascading effects taking the grid to situations with the consequent loss of gas supply.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"284 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76849557","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A hierarchical control structure is utilized for implementation of the proposed approach. In this structure, primary and secondary controls are locally implemented for each DG. Unlike the conventional virtual impedance approaches, the effect of the proposed method on the quality of DG output voltages is smaller and the information of impedance of DG distribution lines is not needed for its implementation. Results obtained by simulating the system under study, verify the capability of the proposed scheme in improving load sharing.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"26 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76932270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

EV aggregators and DN should be operated coordinately to bring potential benefits to both sides. In this paper, a decentralized model for coordinated operation of EV aggregators and DN is proposed in which the total cost of the system is minimized. An alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is introduced to recast the model to a decentralized one. In ADMM method EV aggregators and DN operation problems are solved separately. Therefore, the computational burden of the problem is reduced while respecting the independency of the EV aggregators. The effectiveness of the proposed model is validated by a modified 33-IEEE bus system.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"47 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84144523","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A BESS correction algorithm has been developed to overcome the average frequency asymmetry which may bring the state of charge to zero or 100%, thus not allowing further primary frequency control due to total discharge or total charge of the storage resource. It is demonstrated that for a number of selected days the algorithm provides good results, the primary frequency control is delivered over entire days, and that a reserve of energy remains in the battery for eventual disturbances in the system, for both over and under frequency needs.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"141 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80087276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our ability to abandon the dependence on traditional sources strictly depends on them. The exploitation of these sources could be performed through an efficient integration of distributed generation units (solar, wind, etc.,) in electrical grids. This process has raised several issues in the global operation of the entire system. One of these issues is related to the possible failure of protection devices in case of fault., jeopardizing the safety of users and equipment. In this paper new methods and algorithms., which could coordinate intelligent protection devices in a smart grid scenario., are presented. The effectiveness of these new protection methodologies was assessed using a simulation of a distribution system (equipped with a distributed generation unit) in a “hardware-in-the-loop” setup. The protection methods were implemented in the simulation and exploited to efficiently protect the system during fault events.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"36 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81356989","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the operational flexibility of the Disco is increased so that it can play as a price-maker agent in electricity markets. To model the actions of Disco, a bi-level optimization method is developed where Disco problem is modeled at the upper-level problem, whereas the MGs problem together with the day-ahead market clearing procedure are modeled as the lower-level problems. To take the stochastic performance of green energy integration and loads into account, the Disco analysis is shown as two-stage stochastic problem, in which the Disco risk aversion is programmed considering the conditional value-at-risk tool. The subsequent non-linear bi-level approach is converted into a linear single-level approach through Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions and dual theory. To validate the success of the proposed method, a 24-bus power system is used. Conclusions are duly drawn.","PeriodicalId":6563,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering and 2018 IEEE Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Europe (EEEIC / I&CPS Europe)","volume":"7 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82267081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
