Little is known regarding its safe thresholds to the aquatic ecosystem. Predicted no-effect concentrations (PNECs) for PFOA were derived based on the measured/predicted chronic/acute toxicity data. The interspecies correlation estimation (ICE) program and final acute-to-chronic ratio (FACR) were applied to investigate their capability for the derivation of PNEC. The recommended aquatic toxicity thresholds for PFOA are in the range of 0.30 ~ 8.48 mg/L. The ICE-based species sensitivity distribution (SSD) method has certain potential for the derivation of PNEC especially when toxicity data are limited.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85452426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, when their absorption capacity can be more greatly enhanced by amine functionalization than the conventional ionic liquids,the viscosity will also be increased. Neverthless, this adverse factor can be overcome by making use of supported ionic liquid porous carrier(such as porous SiO2, membranes). ln this paper,the characteristics of the task-specific ionic liquids absorbing CO2 under mild conditions are mainly introduced. The main influence factors on the absorption rate and absorption capacity and the appropriate solutions in practical application are discussed In addition, the developmental prospect of task-specific Ionic Liquids is presented.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"130 1","pages":"1-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85510648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the particle size effect on the toxicity of nanoparticles is still largely unknown. In the present study, we investigated the physicochemical properties of anatase titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) at either 5 nm or 40 nm and their reproductive toxicity effects on Caenorhabditis elegans. There was a dose-dependent increase of germ cell death in C. elegans exposed to 5 nm TiO2 at graded concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 10 μg/mL for 24 h. The brood size was dramatically decreased in a dose-dependent manner in C. elegans exposed to TiO2 at 5 nm, while the brood size was not much altered by TiO2 at 40 nm. Our data clearly demonstrated that the particle size played an essential role in the reproductive toxicity of TiO2 nanoparticles in C. elegans.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"98 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85825688","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By the factor analysis method on the monitoring data, the correlation matrix of selected parameters was calculated, and a model with six components was established to simulate environmental factors affect HABs in meteorology, hydrology and water quality, and explained the results in reason. The results indicated that obviously dominant factors of HABs were atmospheric temperature, atmospheric pressure and water level. The components implied meteorology and hydrology, contributed greater variance, appeared relatively strong effect to algal blooms in the factor analysis model.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"2 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86029143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The filtrate was collected at intervals. The concentrations of β-HCH in filtrate decreased gradually with the increase of time, which indicated that β-HCH in the sediments was being removed gradually with water. But the highest concentrations of HCB and p,p'-DDE in filtrate had obvious delay because of stronger absorbility of sediments. There were evident difference between the initial concentrations and the final concentrations of HCHs and DDTs in the sediment core. The concentrations of HCHs and DDTs decreased in the sediment with 0-5cm depth and those increased in the 5-15 cm sediments. However, the tendency that HCHs and DDTs in the sediment with 10-15 cm removed downwards was not obvious because of adsorption of TOC. HCHs in the sediments under 15 cm removed downwards and led to increase of HCHs concentration in the sediment with 25-30 cm depth, but the varieties of DDTs concentrations in the sediments under 15 cm depth were not obvious because of its hydrophobia.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"39 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84593463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was named as HS-MP13 and characterized. The results indicated that the HS-MP13 strain was most similar to Bacillus cereus based on the results of morphologic characteristics, physiological and biochemical properties and phylogenic analysis of 16S rDNA sequence. The strain HS-MP13 was identified as B. cereus preliminarily. Under aerobic denitrification conditions, we have determined the degradation capacity for methyl parathion (MP) and denitrifying activity of HS-MP13 in the special medium with an initial concentration of 10 mM (140 mg/L) NO3--N and an initial concentration of 100 mg/L MP. The degradation rates of nitrates and MP within 12 hours were found to be 77% and 100%, respectively. It indicated that B. cereus was able to act simultaneously degradation of MP and denitrification under aerobic conditions and it may be a good candidate for aerobic wastewater treatment.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"20 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84596804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model was calibrated and confirmed using the quasi-simultaneous monitoring data over land runoffs and surface water of the bay in 2007. The simulations reproduced COD horizontal distributions under different input scenarios. The distribution was mainly influenced by Dagu River in Aug., where the isopleths decreased from the northwest to the bay mouth. The distribution was mostly affected by the external inputs from east in Nov., where the isopleths generally descended from the northeast. Relative standard deviation (RSD) and similarity index (SI) were applied to quantify the agreement between model and data distributions in term of magnitude and trend, respectively. Best fittings were achieved when the COD decay rate was 0.03 d-1 (RSD<;30%, SI>;0.8). RSD and SI provided objective and quantitative comparison of spatial maps, which could be used in the assessment of other numerical models.","PeriodicalId":6438,"journal":{"name":"2011 5th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering","volume":"11 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78265869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
