In this study we use a special configuration of square loop-array to design the FSS superstrate layer. We obtain the different operating frequencies by adjusting the distance of FSS from printed patch antenna and also the perimeter of square loops. This approach is convenient to study millimeter and sub-millimeter wave circuits with nonlinear lumped elements. Most desired electromagnetic characteristics of this antenna is achieved by empirically finding sizes for different parameters, however there is no explanation for the effect of most of them in open literature. In order to have a clear idea of the effects of different parameters, a 1-18 GHz DRGH has been simulated with HFSS. The concept introduced in this paper assumes that the signal returned (or scattered) from a target is linear or convolutive mixture of several scattering centers along the body of an unknown aircraft. This information can then be used in a pattern recognition scheme for the purpose of identifying the non-cooperative unknown target. The results presented prove the concept using synthetic radar data.
