Temperature has a great influence on the dielectric characteristics of insulation oil and the oil-impregnated papers, so with the increasing use of vegetable oil in transformers, it is necessary to study the temperature dielectric spectrum (TDS) characteristics of the vegetable oil-paper insulation to judge whether TDS can be used to evaluate the state of the vegetable oil-paper insulation system. In this paper, TDS of vegetable oil, mineral oil and their relevant oil-impregnated papers at 50Hz were measured and analyzed by using the Concept80 broadband dielectric spectrometer. It can be concluded that: relative permittivity (ε) of vegetable oil and mineral oil at 50Hz decreases when the temperature increases. However, ε of their relevant oil-impregnated papers at 50Hz increases firstly and then decreases with the increase of temperature. Besides, ε of vegetable oil and vegetable oil-impregnated papers is higher than that of mineral oil and mineral oil-impregnated papers respectively, which is helpful to miniaturize the transformer structure. Dissipation factor (tanδ) of both kinds of oil and their relevant oil-impregnated papers at 50Hz increases with the increase of temperature. The rising rate of tanδ of the vegetable oil is obviously greater than that of the mineral oil while tanδ of mineral oil-impregnated papers is slightly greater than that of vegetable oil-impregnated papers, which proves that vegetable oil can slow down the aging of transformer insulation. TDS of both ε and tanδ at 50Hz can be expressed by the cubic function. This paper discusses the condition monitoring technologies of HV equipment in smart grid. The development status of condition monitoring technologies in substation, conversion substation, and transmission line are introduced. To solve the problems of condition monitoring systems of power systems, and develop the technologies of condition monitoring in smart grid, the intelligent sensor networks, communication network with IEC 61850 protocol for condition monitoring of HV equipments in smart grid are propoed. This paper establishes a mathematical model with the data of initial slope for estimating circuit parameters, which is a group of nonlinear equations with exponential function. It is difficult to solve the problem using nonlinear least square optimization method. The most advantage of QPSO based on swarm intelligence is that it does not require any prior knowledge or space limitations and has very good performance on the complex problems. Therefore, this paper presents the QPSO to solve the parameters estimation problem. Based on estimated parameters, we can calculate the RVM curves from the equivalent circuit and compare the calculated data with the measured. The result shows that the established model is feasible and effective. Tranditional Rogowski coil has been widely used in the lightning current measurement system for its magnetic saturation and good insulation performance. Owing to the shortcomings of traditional Rogowski coil such as the uneven distribution parameters and the unequal density of turns, the paper proposes a novel lightning current sensor based on Printed Circuit Board(PCB) Rogowski coil. The target bandwidth of the sensor is determined by analyzing the spectrum of 8/ 20μs typical lightning current. The sensor is designed using the existing technology, and its actual parameters were measured for the design of the integral circuit. The high impulse current experiments show that not only the sensitivity of the sensor is satisfied, but also it has good linearity. Moreover, the output waveform of the sensor is consistent with the standard waveform. Voltage endurance test has been performed separately on the epoxy-resin layer and on the complete insulation. The test result reveals the voltage vs. lifetime characteristics of the epoxy resin layer, which further supports the life prediction on the complete insulation. All in all the population depends on a satisfactory functionality of these things. Plastic pipe are required to distribute gas and water. The operation of energy cables warm up the soil and may influence and mitigate the material of these plastic pipes. The focus of this paper is placed on crossings of energy cables and plastic pipes. Because of burial depth and low space arrangements under pavement areas it is not always possible to observe the distance between two different pipe systems. The distances can be in the range of 300 mm down to 100 mm, if appropriate measures are set. During the stationary operation with nominal current the energy cable produces loss heat and warms up the surrounding soil and might influence the material of other pipes e.g. gas pipes. Besides the normal operation of energy cables, a transient behaviour caused from an electrical failure produces additional heat in the trench and may cause mitigation on the gas pipe. The aim of this paper was to measure and investigate the temperature profile in the soil on a realistic test setup produced by different types of current stress. All experimental investigations were made in cooperation with an Austrian power utility. The test setup consisted of a medium voltage 20 kV 3-phase cable system with an overhead crossing gas pipe of PE in a distance of 100 mm. To get an idea of the temperature profile caused through the currents, 16 temperature sensors were placed in the volume close to the energy cable and plastic pipe. Appropriate measures as mentioned in the Standard were also tested to reduce the temperature on the surface of the gas pipe. This paper represents the experimental investigation of the PD characteristics of the mineral oil, Nynas 4000x, with the water content not more than 10 ppm, at the PDIV levels under various tip radii of needle - plane electrode arrangements. The tungsten needle electrodes with the tip radius of 10μm, 20μm, and 40μm respectively were used as the high voltage electrode while the brass plane electrode with 75 mm diameter was connected to ground via the shunt resistor of 50 ohm. The gap distance of the electrode system was set up at 50 mm. The test experiment, conventional PD measurement, was set up according to IEC 60270. The test procedure was performed in accordance with IEC 61294 under room temperature. PDIV was examined. Then, PD activities at the PDIV and 1.1 PDIV test level were investigated. Furthermore, PD currents were also detected and recorded by a high quality oscilloscope. Phase- resolved PD characteristics of the mineral oil, PD magnitudes and PD pulse currents of the tested electrode systems are analyzed and presented in this paper. From the test results, we will gain the knowledge of PD characteristics of the mineral oil tested by needle - plane electrode systems and we also found that the PD pulse current measurement can be used as an alternative indicator of the mineral oil degradation. However, copper sulphide deposition on oil-paper insulation can lead to insulation failures in power transformers. In order to research the corrosive properties after adding dibenzyl disulfide (DBDS) and 2, 6-Di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol (DBPC), and the ability of inhibiting corrosion after adding metal deactivator in transformer oil, a series of thermal aging tests are carried on a certain brand of Nynas and Karamay oil in this paper. First of all, testing the corrosive sulfur compounds by ASTM D1275B method; And Nynas oil test after adding a certain amount of metal deactivator is made at 90 °C to analyze the changing of dissolved gas-in-oil content is analyzed. Experiments and analysis results show that DBDS instead of DBPC is the corrosive sulfur compounds; Metal deactivation agent can effectively prevent the occurrence of sulfur corrosion, but it consumes rapidly with the thermal aging; the oil dissolved gas content significantly changes after adding metal deactivator in oil. The formation of space charge in oil/paper insulation system can not only affect the dielectric strength, but also relate to the stability and security of HVDC transformer. Moisture and temperature has detrimental effect on the electrical breakdown strength and insulation life of oil-paper insulation. Thus a better understanding the combination influence of the moisture and temperature on the charge distribution in multi-layer oil-paper insulation system becomes increasingly practical importance. In the present study, the space charge dynamics in three layers oil-paper insulation system with three different moisture concentrations (0.28%, 1.32% and 4.96%) under 15 °C and 55 °C were investigated using the PEA technique under 20 kV/mm . The combination influence of the moisture and temperature on the charge distribution in multi-layer oil-paper insulation system was provided. A switching surge wave shape of 250×2500 μs was used for gaps of 50-150 mm between a high voltage bushing shield and a simulated tank wall (an electrode arrangement used to obtain previously published 60 Hz and 1.2×50 μs lightning impulse breakdown values). We compare these results with data obtained from 10-35 mm gaps using an electrode configuration developed by Weidmann Electrical Technology Inc.
