The antenna consists of the horizontal “H-shapped” patch in the top side, and the I-slot patch with chamfer in the bottom side. The size of the antenna is 15mm×12mm×1mm, and the dielectric constant is 2.65. The resonant frequency of the antenna is at 5.2/5.8GHz. The simulated results is obtained, and show good dual-frequency operation, with impedance bandwidth (return loss: -10dB definition) of 110MHz (5.17~5.28GHz) and 370MHz (5.64~6.01GHz), antenna gain of 1.92dBi and 2.57dBi, respectively. The radiation pattern of dual-frequency is omnidirectional.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"249-252"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90886432","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the multipath electromagnetic propagation typical of many environments can also be an excellent source of random variables useful for encryption key generation. Furthermore, antennas play an important role in how the transmitter and receiver excite or sense the channel and therefore become a critical component in the performance of techniques that exploit the multipath channel for key establishment. This paper focuses on how using multiple antennas can dramatically improve the performance of such key establishment methods.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"22 1","pages":"24-27"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77543982","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The antenna is a combination of beam steering and beam shaping RLSA antenna. The beam steering ability is prominently influenced by the feedline's spiral and radius while beam shaping's forte is depending on the 45° of the aperture slots as well as `bridge' feed line. The spiral feed line and bridge feed line are incorporated with PIN diode switches to enable the multiformities outcome on radiation patterns. The combination of beam steering antenna with beam shaping antenna formed a hybrid four layers configuration. This novel hybrid antenna collectively contribute to the well-developed of 9 multiformities radiation patterns. This hybrid antenna is proficient of steering its radiated beam at four angles; 0°/360°, 90°, 180°, and 270°. Meanwhile, the proposed antenna is able to boost with four different gain of beam shaped radiation patterns; 3.6 dB, 7.2 dBi, 9.9 dBi and 14.64 dBi.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"80 1","pages":"116-119"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79736608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The device is realized by incorporating a high impedance, periodic, patterned metal surface between two layers of dielectric in-between two parallel metal planes. The patterned surface is connected to the metal planes through metalized vias and through metal pins. The properties of the device have been assessed by numerically computing the dispersion diagram using a commercial software. The narrow pass-bands present in the microwave frequency range makes the structure well-suited for filters intended for direct incorporation in antenna feeders in view of wireless applications. Q-factor as high as 300 can be achieved.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"3 1","pages":"40-43"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78516368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved by deriving the power transfer relationship of inductively coupled resonant loops based on their equivalent circuit model. It leads to a concise formulation called near-field power transfer equation, which expresses the transferred power as a function of dimensions and intrinsic quality factors of the loops, distance between the loops, and terminating impedances at both the transmitter and the receiver. Experimental results validate the derived near-field power transfer expression.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"151 1","pages":"157-160"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77115447","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional analog beam formers (ABF) steer a single beam using a single transceiver, power splitter/combiner, and electronically controlled analog phase shifters. In contrast modern digital beam formed arrays (DBF) or `smart antennas' use separate transceiver chains, A/D and D/A converters, and DSPs. This enables direct digital control of array weights to optimize criteria such as mean square error (MSE) or signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) in real time. DBF technologies are effective but are not suitable for every application due to their relative high cost and complexity. The technique proposed here is similar to ADBF approaches using a single transceiver and analog phase shifters, but phase shifters are digitally controlled to provide flexible multiple nulls and beams defined in real time.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"68-71"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74494484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the type of the optical excitation, THz antennas can be divided into two categories: THz photoconductive antennas in a pulsed system and THz photomixing antennas in a Continuous-Wave (CW) system. How different excitation types can affect the performance of the antenna is an important issue in THz systems. Thus, the aim of this paper is to investigate and compare THz photoconductive antennas and THz photomixing antennas from an important design parameter point of view; namely the conductance of the photoconductive material substrate which acts as the source for a PC antenna. Through numerical analyses of example systems, it is shown that source resistance of a THz antenna in a CW system is greater than those in a pulsed system. Further, an important practical system setting, the dependency of alignment of two beams in CW systems on antenna gap size is also investigated. It is illustrated that mixing efficiency for large gap antennas is more sensitive to angle between two beams.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"77 1","pages":"181-184"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90564822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance of a discrete Field Effect Transistor (FET) switch package, suitable for the structure, is investigated in two potential configurations. In one configuration, the switch is co-planar with the ground plane and in the other it is on a different surface. Measurements made on two test boards confirm that when the switches are turned “on” the switch insertion losses are not significantly different between the two configurations. However when the switches are turned “off”, locating the switches on the ground plane provide better isolation between RF ports.","PeriodicalId":6341,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"44-47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-03-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87110308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
