The proposed technique exploits the oversampled received signals in the frequency domain before detection with the CG-MOE algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed technique has better performance to cope with the effect resulting from frequency offset, multipath channel and near-far problem caused by powerful interfering users than the conventional CG-MOE and MOE algorithms.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"87 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84046729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The next generation of HPC platforms is assembled from resources of various types such as multi-core CPUs and GPUs. Thus, the development of a parallel program to fully utilize heterogeneously distributed resources in HPC environment is a challenge. A parallel program should be portable and able to run efficiently on all types of computing resources with the least effort. We combine the advantages of Global Arrays and OpenCL for such the parallel programs. We employ the OpenCL in implementing parallel applications at fine-grain level so that they can execute across heterogeneous platforms. At coarse grain level, we utilize the Global Arrays for efficient data communication between computing resources in terms of virtually shared memory. In addition, we also propose a load balancing technique based on the task pool model for hybrid OpenCL/Global Arrays applications on heterogeneous platforms to improve the performance of the applications.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"20 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82361010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A conventional neural network training algorithm, i.e. BP, has several drawbacks in its slow convergence and local optima. Although PSO can be applied to search for the near optimal set of weights in the neural network, it may still stuck in the local optima because its fitness function depends merely on the error of the network. By combining the information gain of attributes in the dataset with the fitness function of PSO to train weights in the neural network, we find out that the resulting network has a significant improvement on its recognition rate. The comparisons among other training algorithm on two real-world datasets are provided and discussed.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"33 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87690052","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The scheme of the proposed circuit is based on the monostable multivibrator circuit together with the toggle circuit that use JK flip-flop to operate, OR Gate, AND Gate and NOT Gate. The obtained results from simulation and experiment affirm that the dead time at rise and fall edge of switching obtained from the proposed scheme can be independently controlled. The control ability is achieved by adjusting the resistance of the resistor or capacitance of the capacitor that are combined in monostable multivibrator circuit. The proposed circuit is easily implemented and provides the precise dead time duration, at least in nanosecond level. Furthermore, it can operate effectively at high frequency condition. It hence can be employed in various applications.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"125 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88029898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These transformers have been installed on roadside electric poles around Bangkok. Transformers' data is significant to load management and research about transformers. An advanced distribution transformer load monitoring system is capable of measuring voltage, current and power. It separates transformers into small groups and communicates within the group using and radio frequency module operating at unlicensed 433 MHz band. In order to propose new desynchronization protocols, unavoidably, researchers have to implement previous desynchronization works to compare with their own protocols. However, validating the implementations takes time and effort. In this paper, we propose DeVise, a visualizer for validating desynchronization protocols on multi-hop wireless sensor networks. DeVise reads configuration and trace files, and visualizes the protocol behavior. DeVise provides sufficient and useful information to help researchers reduce time and effort in the protocol validation process. We have evaluated DeVise with several desynchronization protocols. The result shows that DeVise helps researchers validate the implementations and effectively helps explore advantages and drawbacks when comparing different desynchronization protocols.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"8 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90190412","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CNT/polymer layers acting as sensing layer were prepared by 2 methods; (i) deposition of separated layer of CNT and polymer to form a composite-like structure at the interface and (ii) deposition of blend CNT and polymer to obtain completely composite layer. Difference of sensor responses was demonstrated. We have found that the sensor with a composite-like layer provides a good response to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as compared to the sensor obtained from printing CNT/polymer composite. The results have also demonstrated that the capability of the CNT/polymer composite sensor allows detecting VOCs in broad range of concentration.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"10 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83305613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With channel information, a receiver selects and quantizes transmit beamforming vector for each subcarrier. The quantized beamformers are then relayed to the transmitter via a rate-limited feedback channel. We propose to reduce the required number of feedback bits by applying a common transmit beamformer for a cluster of adjacent subcarriers. The sum capacity over all subcarriers depends on a cluster size, the number of feedback bits, and the number of channel taps. Approximation of the optimal cluster size that maximizes the sum rates is derived and is shown to predict simulation results very well. Numerical results show that operating with the optimal cluster size can achieve significant performance gain.","PeriodicalId":6319,"journal":{"name":"2012 9th International Conference on Electrical Engineering/Electronics, Computer, Telecommunications and Information Technology","volume":"17 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-05-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88627187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
