To guarantee high-quality communications for a lot of customers and efficient use of network resources the ATM network management has to contain appropriate call admission control (CAC) algorithms. However, the time specifications for CAC decision are very rigorous because of the handoff procedures coming from the terminal mobility. Choosing suitable network and user models for the CAC problem can be traced back to geometrical set separation. We propose a solution based on neural networks for the above problem. Thanks to the parallel operation of neurons and the small number of layers of the suggested network the strictest time requirements for CAC decision can be satisfied.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"40 1","pages":"42-54"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90728476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The narrowband analysis shows that both the mean level of the received signal and the statistical behaviour of its variations about the mean can be accurately estimated. In the wideband analysis, the comparison between measured and simulated power delay profiles shows that both the amplitude and the arrival time of the main multipath components can be well predicted. The statistical distributions of the measured and simulated wideband parameters are also compared, showing a good agreement.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85105078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, for an evolving network operator who wishes to have a network running at lower cost, offering a competitive quality of service (QoS) to its subscribers, a planning, optimization and forecasting tool (POFTool) is of pivotal importance. This paper aims at identifying the main features of a proper POFTool that efficiently supports dimensioning and optimization studies for a combined GSM/General Packet Radio System (GPRS) network and proposes an evaluation methodology which enables prioritization of alternative core network configurations according to operator-driven criteria.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"2 1","pages":"55-61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75503615","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Code acquisition is often carried out by a serial search procedure, particularly suited for the downlink of third generation mobile communication systems. The simplest of such techniques is the fixed dwell-time method. In this contribution, we deal with the more general multiple-dwell method. An interesting conclusion is that multiple dwells can result in a significant reduction of the mean acquisition time, while all the possible acquisition times are conversely bounded by a limited maximum waiting time. In order to perform an optimum search procedure, both non-detection and false-alarm probabilities of the multi-dwell test may be evaluated by means of the novel class of generalized Q (GQ) functions, characterized by a lower computational cost than numerical integration, that extend the well-known Marcum's Q-function. A number of operating examples of double-dwell serial search have been investigated. In all the considered examples, the devised testing procedure has significantly enhanced the performance of the acquisition system, reducing the mean acquisition time of the whole search.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"57 2 1","pages":"21-27"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82765812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The performance of such MIMO systems is dependent on the propagation environment exhibiting sufficient multipath scattering. This paper presents some initial analysis of MIMO channel measurements taken in indoor environments at 5.2 GHz. Outage capacities are calculated and compared between different locations and for different antenna array configurations. Surprisingly, it is shown that the highest channel capacities were actually calculated from data measured in an empty room.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"21 1","pages":"139-143"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83509679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually a coherence multiplex system uses delay-filters at the transmitter and at the receiver to perform the code. In this paper, an extension to other filter types is described. The performance, in terms of the signal-to-noise ratio, can be calculated. The result is a simple expression in which only the bit-time, the coherence-time of the source and the number of simultaneous users is involved. With the use of a continuous source, the signal to noise ratio will be proportional to the inverse of the square of the number of simultaneous users. Such a system is in fact a spectral code system. Further extension will be made with the use of a pulsed source and by replacing the filters in the previous case by a bank of filters. Each element of that filter bank also has a delay, different for each element, included. It will be shown that in that case the signal-to-noise ratio can be made proportional to the inverse of the number of users instead of the square of the number of users, which means an important improvement with respect to the number of users that can be handled. This system can be named a spectro-temporal code system.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"6 1","pages":"6-13"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73243051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Termination of the ongoing call without the will of the subscriber can be avoided by reserving channels in the next cell at the cost of increasing the call blocking rate in that cell. Therefore, the number of guard channels reserved for possible handoffs is an important parameter in system performance evaluation. We propose a method to estimate the set of candidate cells into which the mobile may move in the near future. New calls are admitted to the system by respecting the channels reserved in the candidate cells. We also propose a realistic mobility model to evaluate our call admission scheme.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"25 1","pages":"109-114"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87594396","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study covers local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) networks that operate at millimeter wave radio frequencies above 20 GHz, as well as broadband wireless access at microwave frequencies below 11 GHz. We outline the current standardization work in this field by the ETSI in Europe and the IEEE 802.16 Group in the US. We point out that one of the major problems is the intercell interference which limits the frequency reuse factor and the cell capacity. We address the issue of increasing cell capacity using adaptive modulation, code-division multiple access (CDMA), and adaptive antennas. We also discuss the basic transmission technologies for lower frequency bands (below 11 GHz) where a significant amount of multipath propagation must be compensated.","PeriodicalId":58934,"journal":{"name":"教育传播与技术","volume":"31 1","pages":"210-214"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2000-10-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75177294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
