Given the complexity of the underlying problems, several new methods resort to using semantic knowledge in particular for object detection and classification support. In this paper, we present a novel approach, which makes use of advanced algorithms, and benefits from intelligent knowledge management strategies for the processing of 3D point clouds and object classification in a scanned scene. In particular, our method extends the use of semantic knowledge to all stages of the processing, including the guidance of the 3D processing algorithms. Schaepman","doi":"10.1127/1432-8364/2013/0168","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1127/1432-8364/2013/0168","url":null,"abstract":"Die Struktur des Waldes hat einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die globalen bio- geochemischen Stoffkreislaufe und kann daruber hinaus als Indikator dienen, um das Potential zum Erhalt der Biodiversitat abzuschatzen und die Widerstandsfahigkeit des Waldes gegen ausere Einflusse zu bestimmen. Flugzeuggestutztes Laserscanning (ALS) bietet hierbei die Moglichkeit einer raumlich hochaufgelosten Erfassung und Beschreibung sowohl der horizontalen als auch der vertikalen Waldstruktur. Wir stellen robuste Verfahren basierend auf flugzeuggestutzten Laserscanningdaten vor, um eine Extraktion von forstwirtschaftlich und -wissenschaftlich relevanten Strukturinformationen zu ermoglichen. Dies beinhaltet: i) die Einzelbaumextraktion, ii) die Bestimmung von Unterwuchs und Bodenbedeckung und iii) die Totholzerkennung. Die Datengrundlage bestand aus multi-temporalen, full-waveform Laserdaten in dichtem Laub- und Mischwald fur Testgebiete in der Schweiz (Lagern) und in Deutschland (Uckermark). Basierend auf der ALS-Punktwolke mit ihren geometrischen Attributen und den zugehorigen full-waveform Eigenschaften wurden folgende Methoden angewendet: i) hierarchisches, 3D-Clustering und die Ableitung von alpha shapes fur die Einzelbaumextraktion, ii) rasterbasierte, vertikale Stratifizierung fur die Charakterisierung von Unterwuchs, und iii) die Kombination aus map algebra und Vektorisierung fur die Totholzanalyse. Die erzielten Genauigkeiten der abgeleiteten Strukturvariablen entsprachen den Anforderungen der traditionellen Forstinventur. The more accurate the object coordinates of people in the scene are known, the more detailed analyses can be conducted with respect to motion patterns or interactions between tracked people. In this paper we present an approach that generates consistent global tracks of people in non-crowded scenarios. The trajectories are calculated in a common reference frame from observations of multiple surveillance cameras. An important step in our work is the estimation of body height as well as a reliable association of tracks across partly overlapping views.
