The high yields obtained for this crop are mainly linked to nitrogen requirements. Technologies that aim to reduce costs with nitrogen fertilizers, with less environmental impact, such as diazotrophic bacteria, should be considered an advantageous alternative for this crop. The present study aimed to evaluate two corn hybrids, BioGene 7046® and Dekalb 310®, with three topdressing nitrogen doses (0.35 and 70 kg ha-1 of N) associated with four application methods of Azospirillum brasilense (without inoculation, seed inoculation, foliar inoculation, and the combination of inoculation via seeds and leaves). A randomized block design with four replications arranged in a 2x3x4 factorial scheme was used to evaluate variables related to growth and development, physiological analysis of nitrate reductase enzyme activity, and yield variables and their components. The use of Azospirillum brasilense did not affect the development of corn plants and did not increase grain yield. In the edaphoclimatic conditions in which this research was developed, nitrogen fertilization at doses of 35 and 70 kg ha-1 benefit nutrition, development, and corn yield components but are insufficient to increase grain yield.","PeriodicalId":55957,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Agricultura Neotropical","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42791003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Asparagus is not part of the vegetables cultivated in Boa Vista-RR, so basic studies, such as substrate preparation, are necessary. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the effect of six substrates on the initial development of asparagus seedlings in two growth phases. For this, an experiment was set up in an entirely randomized design, with treatments arranged in a factorial scheme (6 x 2). In the initial phase of the study, six compositions were evaluated with the following materials: (S - soil; M - goat manure; C - root and shoot of cassava) in two sowing seasons. The S40M30C30 substrate stands out by having better particle distribution, 79% ranging between 2 and 0.5 mm and 21% less than 0.5 mm, wet bulk density of 0.823 g cm-3 and dry of 0.726 g cm-3, relative humidity of 7.1% and particle density of 1.88 g cm-3. This substrate also provided higher growth variables than the others and is suitable for growing asparagus in its initial phase. Asparagus seeds should be sown in a substrate prepared with soil and organic waste (goat manure and residue from the shoot and roots of cassava) at least seven days before sowing.","PeriodicalId":55957,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Agricultura Neotropical","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47093988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, cropping has a significant economic and social role, as production increases yearly. Currently, in Brazil, the mechanized harvest of sugarcane is growing fast in most of the country. The improvement in the harvester’s performance allows for fewer expenses and a higher operating yield. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between fuel consumption and maneuvering time of sugarcane harvesters in three different areas (W1 > 20 ha, 10 ha < W2< 20 ha, and W3 < 10 ha). Were calculated fuel consumption per maneuver in each area and analyzed how this value can change due to the tracks' spatial variability combined with the machine's hourly consumption. Based on the variable maneuvering time results and consumption per maneuver, the treatment W3 was the one that obtained the lowest fuel consumption with the T maneuver, due to the shorter mean maneuvering time, besides the more significant available track space to perform them. So that is the best configuration that aims at more significant savings in production cost.","PeriodicalId":55957,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Agricultura Neotropical","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45194168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to demonstrate the effect of Mentha spicata essential oil on the control of Fusarium and Colletotrichum fungi in vitro. The essential oil of M. spicata used was purchased from the chemical industry Ferquima, being diluted in a 2% Tween 20 solution (being 98 mL of distilled water + 2 mL of Tween 20), which was added in 60 mL of a PDA culture medium, resulting in final essential oil concentrations: 0 ppm; 0.83 ppm; 1.67 ppm; 8.33 ppm, and 16.67 ppm and poured into 90 mm diameter Petri dishes. The evaluations took place periodically every 48 hours for eight days, performing measurements of the diameters of the colonies. The results evidenced that the analyzed fungi, when submitted to treatments of different doses, suffered fungistatic action according to the gradual increase of the doses. Thus, this activity generates residues, such as ashes from bagasse burning and straw from sugarcane cleaning and from the production of sugar, alcohol and thermal energy. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the initial performance and chlorophyll content of pigeon pea and the chemical attributes of the soil after application of ash doses. The experiment was conducted in 2021, in a greenhouse located in southwestern Goiás, Brazil. The design used was completely randomized, composed of five ash doses: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Mg ha-1 and a control treatment, with four replicates, totaling 24 experimental units. The use of only ash as a fertilizer source causes linear increases in the initial growth of pigeon pea and in the contents of total chlorophyll and chlorophyll b, reaching the maximum increments with the estimated ash doses of 35.9 and 38.9 Mg ha-1. Applications of high ash doses promoted improvements in soil fertility, with increase in pH, P, K and base saturation as well as reduction in aluminum content and aluminum saturation. Calcium and magnesium contents reached the maximum increments with the estimated ash doses of 39.5 and 66.7 Mg ha-1, respectively.","PeriodicalId":55957,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Agricultura Neotropical","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42518621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During V4 and R2 phenological stages, we analyzed the gas exchange, and at the harvest were composed two different lots: freshly harvested seeds and the seeds subjected to accelerated aging; in both lots, we evaluated germination test, vigor, germination speed index, seedling fresh mass, and the determination of the chemical composition of the seeds. For experiment conducted to analyze physiological parameters we adopted the factorial scheme 2x2x4 (two evaluation periods x two soybean cultivars x four spatial arrangements), and for seed quality and chemical composition, we adopted the factorial scheme 2x4 (two soybean cultivars x four spatial crop arrangements). The vegetative stage was crucial for better gas exchange efficiency, and the spatial arrangements positively influenced the physiological and chemical quality of the seeds for soybean crop, where the fitted arrangement was observed in 40.0 cm between rows and 8.9 cm between plants for the cultivar Tec 7849 Ipro and 50.0 cm between rows and 5.3 cm between plants, for Monsoy 6972 Ipro.
