The subject of this study is the Baduis people of Banten. Drawing upon McLuhan's media ecology theory, this qualitative research adopts a case study approach. The research centres on the Badui people, focusing on the Baduy Seba activities that transpired in April 2023. The primary aim is to examine how this Indigenous society, which initially resisted technology, eventually engages in the process of cultural acculturation. The findings of this study reveal that the Banten Baduis people demonstrate a reserved demeanour in the face of Globalisation's influence, choosing to embrace change cautiously while still preserving their core values. This cautious and adaptive attitude of the Baduis people towards the swift influence of technology reflects their biculturalism, where they successfully blend their traditional customs with aspects of the modern world.","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135398076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study adopts a qualitative approach using the Case Study model. Data collection involves four techniques: (1) interviews, (2) participant observation, (3) documentation studies, and (4) reference searches. Informants were selected using the purposive sampling technique and snowball sampling. Data analysis follows the Miles, Huberman, and Spradley model, encompassing three steps: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing or verifying conclusions. The study's findings reveal that group communication within the Department revolves around the division and detailed allocation of tasks and responsibilities to individual employees. The dissemination of development innovations in North Sumatra utilises diverse communication techniques, encompassing brochures, posters, billboards, banners, television, RRI, websites, and email as the media for group communication programs.","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135398086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This unique perspective, known as \"Batang Banyu,\" portrays the river as a revered and integral aspect of their existence. The core objective of this research lies in comprehending the embodiment of the Batang Banyu concept within the regions of Martapura, Nagara, and Panggang in South Kalimantan. The research adopts a phenomenological approach, utilising an interpretive qualitative method to achieve this. The primary data is gathered through rigorous field observations and in-depth interviews with local inhabitants. The study's outcomes unveil that the Batang Banyu concept has evolved into a communicative experience, endowing the community with profound significance for the river. This significance finds manifestation in four fundamental aspects: first and foremost, the river serves as a livelihood for fishermen; secondly, it supports various livelihood-related endeavours; thirdly, it plays a crucial role in constructing homes; and lastly, it serves as a means of transportation. Remarkably, among the communities residing along the banks of the Nagara River and Panggang Lake, the Batang Banyu concept remains firmly entrenched. Conversely, for the people residing along the Martapura River, the Batang Banyu concept has been discarded, resulting in the unfortunate neglect and pollution of the Martapura River due to the accumulation of vast amounts of garbage.","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135398087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employs qualitative research methods, utilising in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, and adopts Hafied Cangara's communication strategy framework, based on Laswell's theory , to analyse the Commission's approach. The outcomes reveal that the Commission's communication plan effectively conveyed the intended message to the public. It achieved its objectives of disseminating information and educating the populace about the switch-off process. Nonetheless, the plan could have been further enhanced to better address the diverse needs and concerns of the audience. The findings offer valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with implementing the analogue switch-off programme, especially concerning formulating efficient communication strategies that can effectively reach all segments of Society. By shedding light on these aspects, this research significantly contributes to the broader discourse on digital television and its profound influence on broadcasting policies in Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135397868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy produces promotional videos for Wonderful Indonesia storytelling style that prioritizes super priority tourist destinations. This study aims to evaluate the use of digital storytelling strategies in promotional video content for Lake Toba, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, and Borobudur. The exploratory sequential mixed methods design was used to obtain qualitative and quantitative data. Based on directed qualitative content analysis using the concept of storytelling heroes journey structure, the four video contents highlight the domination of hero characters in the story structure. However, the most complete content of heroic characters is found in the video for the destination of Borobudur, rather than Lake Toba, which has the highest production costs. Then, based on the results of experimental validation of the findings of previous qualitative data, it was found that the digital storytelling technique used was able to moderately influence the positive image of the four destinations. Digital storytelling for tourism promotion videos in the future needs to integrate the complete structure of heroic stories by involving a variety of supporting characters, both protagonists and antagonists, as well as incorporating elements of economy and pacing in the content","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135397870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article uses a qualitative content analysis method by analyzing Twitter messages containing the hashtags and keywords Permendikbudristek, Permendikbud, #RevokePermendikbudristekNo30, and #DukungPermendikbud30. The choice of these hashtags was based on the urgency to be able to review public opinion on the ratification of Permendikbudristek Number 30 of 2021 based on the pros and cons categories so that the implications could then be analyzed for the policy implementation of preventing and handling sexual violence. The data obtained in this study were analysed using the theory of digital activism stages which consist of triggering phases, media reactions, viral organizations, and direct action. In addition, data analysis is also focused on reviewing the effectiveness of digital activism carried out by the two coalitions based on several factors that influence the effectiveness of digital activism in achieving its goals, starting from public involvement, long-term strategic plans, mass mobilization, and the level of support received. The results of the analysis show that the stages of digital activism carried out by the two coalitions started with the emergence of a triggering phase which was based on the incompatibility of the substance of the policy with the values shared by several community groups, then was strengthened by the presence of a fairly high media reaction, in this case, social media Twitter. Even though it was not accompanied by the emergence of a viral organisation, there was a direct action by the counter coalition. Furthermore, the results of the analysis also show that the effectiveness of digital activism by counter-parties is categorized as low compared to digital activism carried out by pro-parties based on the achievement of factors that influence the effectiveness of digital activism.

In the past, Public Relations (PR) primarily focused on public branding, catering mostly to a select audience. However, the rise of Digital Uses and Gratifications has led to a transformation in media dynamics, giving rise to a new paradigm known as Corporate Communications and Influencer Marketing. In this research, AI Machine learning and Pattern Analysis was employed to examine the patterns of the Influencer aspect within Public Relations. This emerging PR paradigm demonstrates the dynamic nature of the field as it expands to encompass new dimensions. Incorporating Influencer Relations to promote products requires integrating Corporate Communications skills to establish a thriving Influencer Relations industry. This highlights the evolving nature of PR in response to the changing media landscape, indicating the need for a comprehensive approach to harnessing the potential of digitalisation and Influencer Marketing in modern Public Relations practices.","PeriodicalId":55792,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Studi Komunikasi","volume":"521 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134920307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
