The genre of short prose includes short stories, parables, short tales, essays and literary sketches. In the current period of increased dynamism of human activity, short prose acquires new value assessments, which is confirmed by the results of international competitions in this field. Anthologies of short prose, in terms of their richness, complexity and the variety of topics covered, often compete with impressive novels in terms of volume. Just as drawings or short sketches are important for the creative development of artists, so, short prose offers good opportunities for development and growth for writers. Dumitru Trifan illustrated literature of a different nature. The elegance of linear plasticity, the conciseness and the casual operation with the spatial effects of the chiaroscuro decorative configuration determine the originality of the artist’s works. The artist has been working since the beginning of the 70s of the 20th century and until the first decades of the 21th century. The artist brought his contribution to the national culture as an actor, director, playwright and scenographer. Ever since his student years, I. Puiu has been passionate about scenographic art and, after graduating from the Art Institute, the young man works as an actor at the Academic Theater ”A. S. Puşkin” from Chişinău. In 1971, I. Puiu began his professional activity as a painter-scenographer at the Republican Theater for Children and Youth „Luceafărul”. From 1974 until 1996, he works as the chief scenographer at the ”Vasile Alecsandri” Theater in Bălţi. This period constituted a real stage in the scenographer’s creation, being already an experienced and professional artist in the field. {"title":"Eighteenth-century architectural schools in Germany","authors":"Irina Gofman","doi":"10.52603/arta.2023.32-1.18","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52603/arta.2023.32-1.18","url":null,"abstract":"Despite the fact that today there is a fairly comprehensive material on the architecture of Western Europe in the 18th century and a significant amount of research conducted regarding the outstanding architects of that time. There is not a lot of information available regarding the formation of architectural education in Germany, as a system of educational institutions, or at least this information has not been synthesized to give a clear picture of the processes that took place in this timeframe. The main aim of this article is to outline a complete chronological picture of the events that took place and to enable the reader to trace the challenging path of the development of architecture from a craft to the academic discipline. Given the turbulent political processes in eighteenth-century Europe, particularly in Germany, the article highlights some political developments which, in turn, had a huge impact on the development of culture, education and social life in the country. The main achievement of the 18th century in the field of education was the introduction of a compulsory state examination to obtain a certificate of higher education. A mandatory special training requirement for construction majors was also introduced. During this period, several textbooks were developed and published. The academies were actively gaining and consolidating their influence in both in education and science. {"title":"„Stephen the Great and Saint” Public Garden in Chișinău","authors":"Tamara Nesterova","doi":"10.52603/arta.2023.32-1.03","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52603/arta.2023.32-1.03","url":null,"abstract":"The expansion of Chisinau to the west, where there were uncultivated lands, was produced with rectangular neighborhoods, their parametric mode serving the square with a side of 130 fathoms, land provided for the construction complex of the Metropolis of Bessarabia, by the Galata Monastery in Iaşi, the then owner of the locality. The first public garden in Chisinau, designed in the style of French classicism, was laid out on the square neibouring the Metropolis. The idea boils down to a ground floor divided by alleys into sectors according to the “divine grid” - a graphic technique used in the artisanal and professional environment of builders, easy to memorize and use, but accessible only to connoisseurs. The style of the garden did not involve the planting of trees and the construction of buildings, but due to climatic conditions and the lifestyle of the population, the tradition of the classic French garden was violated. Tall trees were planted in the garden, and the area was built up with recreational and entertainment buildings, under which the original rigid geometric structure of the park disappeared. The fence of the park made of cast iron sections was preserved along Mitropolit G. Bănulescu-Bodoni Street and 31 August 1989 Street, being completely lost on the side facing Ştefan cel Mare Boulevard and partially on Maria Cebotari Street. The period of Stalinism is unequivocally associated with the functioning of the communist apparatus of repression. In culture, it manifested itself in the development of an artistic direction called socialist realism. In public life, it was a departure from the multi-party system in favor of the leading role of the communist party – the Polish United Workers’ Party. Considering the above, for the inhabitants of Poland with democratic views, the architecture of socialist realism was clearly associated with the totalitarian system and was a symbol of enslavement by the USSR. However, after many decades, in the case of some objects of the socialist realism period, their values were appreciated and they were recognized as monuments. Preserving the identity of cities by ensuring historical and cultural continuity is possible by protecting the architectural heritage. While the historical buildings and settlements that in usage can easily be kept alive because of the existing maintenance, it is necessary to install new functions in order to protect the unused cultural heritage buildings and to make contemporary annexes for the emerging new usage and space needs. In this study, contemporary additions to historical textures and buildings are examined with examples in the context of design decisions, approaches and conservation principles. In this context, firstly the context of the annex was emphasized and then the repetition-imitation, the contrast and the adaptation-interpretation as design approaches were discussed with examples. In addition, the annexes were evaluated according to the physical relationship they established with the existing structure. Reflecting the era with its material, construction technique and form, annexes are an important component of cultural continuity, as they represent genuine solutions for real needs. The seventh and eighth decades of the XX represent the consolidation stage of the interpretative art in our country, continuing to be determined by the evolution of the bayan / accordion schools in Eastern Europe (especially Russia, Ukraine, Belarus). Th e perpetuation of socialist values delimits two parallel evolutionary paths of the bayanistic / accordionistic instrumental practice in the republic. The intensive improvement of technical and expressive capabilities gives the multitimbral bayan with converter an absolute superiority from an organological, repertory, instructive-didactic, interpretive point of view, allowing it to occupy a visible position on the academic stage. Despite its marginalization, the multitimbral accordion with S.B. manages to assimilate to a certain extent the components of the chromatic harmonica with buttons (the repertoire, the instructional-didactic process, etc.) which were in an intense course of development. In the few specialized works that refer to this kind of audiovisual production, especially of Russian expression, various defi ning features are used: “compilation fi lm”, “archive fi lm”, “cinematheque (mediatheque) fi lm”, “documentary-archival fi lm”, etc. We believe that the most appropriate name would be “montage fi lm”, because the given phrase encompasses a fundamental concept both for cinematographic art and, in terms of the theory and practice of the respective genre or format, namely, the montage (key operation in the edifi cation of the expected audiovisual reality). We also undertook a foray into the history of montage fi lm, bringing to the fore illustrious names and signifi cant examples from Soviet cinematography: Dziga Vertov, Esfi r Shub and Mikhail Romm. Starting from the researched historical sources, the content, presented in chronological order, highlights and analyzes the points of view of the travelers from outside, whose reflections and comments facilitate the penetration into the realities of court music and fiddle music, often considered “minor forms” of manifestation of the sound art, to which local research has often paid less attention. Captured from the perspective of the non-professional traveller, the described information reveals the circumstances, in which the services of music are appealed to and the share of the phenomenon in official events. At the same time, the syntheses undertaken shed light on the exaggerations and (or) subjectivisms expressed in the interpretations and opinions of foreign visitors. Theatricality understood as a cultural and aesthetic aspect is combined in some types of speeches with theatricality in life, especially in prose. If in the dramaturgical text its structure (dialogue — stage directions) constitutes a first element of theatricality, then the theatrical techniques from the show (ad spectatores, the monologue, the actor’s corporeality, etc.) are elements that can also be found in the narrative literary text in the form of authoriality, of various forms of psychology, etc. In this context, an important role in the creation of theatricality is played by intermediality as the interaction of codes specific to certain artistic or non-artistic discourses.
