There are a very few researches carried out at the lower levels of territorial units, mostly at the levels of NUTS-1 or NUTS-2 statistical regions. The aim of this paper is to analyse economic effects of transport infrastructure development at even lower level of territorial units, i.e. at the level of NUTS-3 statistical regions. The paper compares economic performances of the TEN-T European regions characterized by developed core trans-European road and rail transport network, with economic performances of other regions without the core network. A significant difference in favour of the TEN-T regions was identified, both in the case of gross value added of the entire economy and gross value added of the manufacturing industry. No significant differences were identified in terms of the employment rate. On the other hand, the labour productivity is higher in the TEN-T regions, primarily in the manufacturing industry, as a direct consequence of reducing transport time and transport costs.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"173-187"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71230167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors aim to analyze the direction of structural changes in Serbia's manufacturing industry and make comparison with the situation in the new EU member states, as well as determine whether those changes that show the same trends as GDP per capita movements are characterized by specialization growth, especially in terms of medium-high and high technology manufacturing activities. Industrial sector specialization index is used to determine the level of specialization of manufacturing industry production sectors and activities. Changes in specialization are analyzed by observing the changes in the mentioned index over a five-year period. The level of specialization of manufacturing sector is compared to the level of GDP per capita and its growth rate. In order to analyze the level of specialization of industry sectors and activities in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia, the comparison method was used. The results of the research indicate that the direction of structural changes in Serbian manufacturing industry does not follow the usual pattern, i.e., the lower level of GDP per capita results in a higher level of production specialization, while the lower level of specialization and smaller number of activities leads to low technology intensity of production, which is not the case with the new EU member states.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"79-95"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the paper is to determine, on the basis of the data from the School to Work Transition Survey (SWTS) from 2015, a premium for the education of persons from 15 to 29 years old. A rate of return to investment in education for youth is estimated using the least squares method and using the instrumental variables method. As the instruments for a variable that refers to the number of years of education were used a father’s level of education and a mother’s level of education.The results of the assessment using the least squares method indicate that a rate of return to investment in education for youth in Serbia is 5.2%. The value of the coefficient in the case of evaluation by the instrumental variables method is twice as big as in the case of the least squares method. It is confirmed that in the case of the assessment using the least squares method we get a biased assessment. This result also suggests that schooling of children in Serbia continues to serve as a family characteristic, and informs that the education system in Serbia cannot provide a fair access to schooling for those children coming from socio-economic vulnerable families.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"115-136"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229771","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Building upon previous research a conceptual framework of the relationships between communication, trust, satisfaction with the relationship and relationship commitment and their impact on cooperation has been proposed and empirically examined from the perspective of certified buyers. The application of structural equation modelling on a sample of 186 certified companies operating on Serbian market indicated the antecedent role of communication to trust and the direct influence of trust and commitment on the development of cooperation. Implications of this research are discussed and limitations and directions for future research are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"137-153"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

High impact on this issue lays in inadequate management of human resources and corruption. The main objective of this paper is to examine the basic assumptions of the theory of resource curse, to determine the factors that have the greatest impact on its (non)existence, to determine the causal dependence between natural wealth and the political environment, as well as with the quality of life of citizens. The research was carried out by analysing five variables that define resources curse and Human Development Index. For data processing, Fisher’s F test is applied. The survey was done on a sample of 22 countries. The results show: a) the characteristics of the political regime do not have a clearly defined impact on existence of resource curse, b) resources rent and export of energy products do not have a significant impact on the quality of life of citizens (expressed through the Human Development Index) and c) a significant degree of deviation from the expected is determined in countries rich in ores and metals.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"131-150"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229569","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, specific objectives are to discuss the productivity trends in agribusiness sector, to evaluate statistical significance of several important determinants like insufficient domestic demand, low product quality, slow technological changes as well as inadequate state support, and to suggest ways to overcome challenges. A methodology used in the analysis and the results can be employed in a number of ways. It should be noted that panel analysis provides a framework for easy interpretation of determinants that affect the performance of agribusiness sector but also serves as a good empirical confirmation of their statistical significance. On the other hand, the results have implications for the food industry and policy decision making process, as they provide evidence on the current and projected economic performance of food manufacturing industry.","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"127-143"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this research is to examine the three dimensions of intellectual capital i.e. human capital, structural capital, and relational capital, and their interdependence and, to test their direct and total effects on organizational effectiveness according to competing values approach. The proposed research model is tested in product-oriented and service-oriented organizations in the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, to establish similarities and differences within these two types of organizations. The research was performed using psychometrically validated questionnaires to measure intellectual capital and organizational effectiveness. To test hypothesized correlations partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) is employed. The main findings from this research are: interdependence of intellectual capital dimensions and their direct effects on certain organizational effectiveness models are significant in both types of organizations but in service-oriented organizations there is insignificant effect of human capital on structural capital, and, finally, total effects analysis shows that positive inter-dependence of intellectual capital dimensions increases the total positive effect of intellectual capital on organizational effectiveness. The final defined structural models show a robust explanation of the organizational effectiveness variance in observed context. 1 Univesity of Banja Luka, Faculty of Economics, Bosnia and Herzegovina, matea.zlatkovic@ef.unibl.org Zlatković M.: Intellectual Capital and Organizational Effectiveness: PLS-SEM approach 146 Industrija, Vol.46, No.4, 2018","PeriodicalId":55740,"journal":{"name":"Industrija","volume":"46 1","pages":"145-169"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71229965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous econometric models show the existence of the influence of the foreign exchange rate on inflation. The aim of the paper is to evaluate how strong this effect is and whether the influence of the foreign exchange rate on price in Serbia after the collapse of the global economy is increasing/decreasing. The pass-through effect is assessed in the post-crisis period using the econometric model (ADL methodology).
