To evaluate perceptions of persons with substance use disorders in rehabilitation and opinions about their reintegration in the labour market. Design/methodology/approach: Mixed methodology combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches, with the use of mini focus group interview and questionnaire survey. Findings: Preconception about persons with substance-related disorders is considerable. At the same time, people are willing to accept individuals in treatment in the professional environment and to support them. Dental health problems are not only an image issue but constitute a major barrier in activities of daily living and hinder social integration. The financial aspect of social initiatives to be implemented needs to be recognised and addressed. Research and practical limitations/implications: We show that programmes of reintegration of people with a past related to substance use disorders should in the first place focus on existing preconceptions. Cooperation with businesses for the professional reintegration of individuals in treatment for addictive behaviours and dependencies is vital for its success. Social initiatives need suitable dissemination and funding. Originality/value: The paper deals with an important social problem. Social responses for individuals in treatment are very important but require additional societal awareness and business structures supporting social integration that are still to be worked on. These two features are prerequisites for any successful socio-professional reintegration. Hitherto, there have been many studies conducted in the field of feminine style of management which perfectly illustrate both their advantages and disadvantages. Nonetheless, having all this knowledge does not improve the situation of women in getting to the management positions. There is still this unwritten rule that women are perfect for administrative jobs and less responsible ones since they are expected to focus more on their families. In that case, the owners of corporations do know that a company can run with an employee being on a maternity leave, however this does not work for managerial positions. The situation when a manager is a man is widely known and has been present since such a position was intro-duced, so sometimes for particular corporations it is very difficult to ‘break the ice’ and apply a scenario (which was not present/tested before) when the woman is a manager. Thus, the aim of this paper is to analyse the world’s largest corporations in terms of the number of female managers. It is important to realise that women are underesti-mated for managerial positions so their share in the total number of managers in the World’s top corporations is very low.","PeriodicalId":55697,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Corporate Responsibility and Leadership","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43351736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is also a lack of discussion on that topic in Polish literature. There exist studies on succession in large companies and family businesses, as well as organisations that allow to analyse easily the impact of succession on their performance (e.g. sport clubs). The aim of the paper is to fill the gap in literature and thus in knowledge and understanding of succession processes in non-gov-ernmental organisations. Design/methodology/approach: The literature studies showed the need for qualitative research in this field mainly in the form of case studies with concrete succession stories from organisa-tions. The applied method is a multiple case study with elements of the grounded theory approach. Qualitative case studies have been developed based on interviews with CEOs from Polish NGOs. Findings: The results of the research presented in the paper are the beginnings of theorizing on succession in non-govern-mental organisations in Poland. The synthesis of the collected research material is presented and delineates further research directions. Research and practical limitations/implications: Conducted case studies provide contextual knowledge about the course and environment of succession processes in NGOs. However, the col-lected material from case studies does not allow generalizations and references to the entire population of the examined type of organisations. Originality/value: The study on succession in non-governmental organisations is quite unique in the scientific literature devoted to the succession (missing specially specific case studies from NGOs) and almost completely unique in Polish literature. Juchnowicz, Hanna Kinowska","doi":"10.12775/18715","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12775/18715","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: The paper is a contribution to research on managers / leaders performance influencing employee engagement. The manager has a major impact on the level of employee commit-ment. There is no unified, complete, empirically verified model of managerial activity leading to employee engagement in the subject literature. The available studies indicate numerous connections between the different aspects of the leader’s performance and employee engagement. Based on the findings of the literature review, the authors defined the concept of employee engagement and the importance of a lead-er’s role in engagement building. Significant managers’ actions affecting employee engagement have been identified. Due to the complex nature of the leader’s activity, the following classifica-tion identifying four model profiles has been proposed: a classical leader, a change leader, a discreet leader and a holistic leader. Each of the profiles has been characterised by the tasks performed. Design/methodology/approach: The results of the quantitative research on a representative sample of professionally active Poles conducted by the Institute of Human Capital at Warsaw School of Economics in the autumn of 2016 identified the prevalence of employees opinions about model behaviours of managers. It was measured which patterns are the most common. Both fully and partially saturated behavioural patterns have been tested (how many managers meet the patterns in full, in 75% and in half), as well as pure and mixed variants of models. Findings: On the basis of the analyses it was determined that the most beneficial, considering employee engagement, is the model combining the behavioural characteristics of all three patterns. Further research on leadership should take into account the com-plexity of a leader’s role, particularly in the context of manage-ment through engagement. Research and practical limitations / implications: The anal-yses reveal that managers have a major impact on employee engagement. In order to maximise efficiency, managers should apply comprehensive skills appropriate in the given stage of team management. Originality/value: The paper is a contribution to the discussion on the nature of engagement, leadership and the relationship between these two constructs. Based on the analysis of the leadership paradigms, the authors’ original classification of key behavioural patterns of engaging leaders has been proposed.
