An increase in the emergency room (ER) presentations of suicidal behavior cases could reflect the extent of the psychological distress in the community.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 To estimate the prevalence of ER presentations of suicidal behavior cases during the COVID-19 pandemic.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 Retrospective review of registers and 305 case files of suicidal behavior registered during the period of April 1, 2019–March 30, 2020 (prepandemic) and compared to the April 1, 2020–March 30, 2021 (during the pandemic). Data were collected in a semi-structured pro forma prepared for this purpose. Data were tabulated, and statistical analysis was performed.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 There was a decrease in the total number of medico-legal cases (MLCs) presenting to ER during the pandemic period (N1 = 584 vs. N2 = 387). However, there was a proportionate increase in the cases of suicidal behavior observed during the pandemic compared to the prepandemic period (35.2% vs. 29.5%). 55.4% of compound consumption and 45.7% of hanging cases had interpersonal conflicts as precipitating factors during the pandemic period. There was an increase noted in poisoning by tablet consumption by 8.3% during the pandemic period.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 To conclude, our study showed a decrease in the number of total MLCs during the pandemic. However, there was a proportionate increase in the cases of suicidal behavior during the pandemic compared to the prepandemic period. Poisoning was seen to be the most common method of suicidal behavior. Early identification of IA in CMDs can help in better management of both disorders.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 To assess the extent and severity of IA in persons with CMDs.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 This was a cross-sectional, single-group, exploratory study conducted at the Department of Psychiatry of tertiary care teaching hospital in North India. Patients aged 18 years and above and diagnosed with CMDs (Neurotic and stress-related disorders, Depressive Disorder, and substance use disorder) as per the ICD-11 criteria were included in the study after taking written informed consent. The severity of CMDs was assessed on Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), Yale-Brown Obsessive-compulsive Scale, Severity of Alcohol Dependence Questionnaire and Severity of Opioid Dependence Questionnaire. The level of IA was assessed using Young’s IA Test.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 A total of 150 patients diagnosed with CMDs were included. Males were slightly more than females (56% v/s 44%), most were younger than 40 years of age (55.3%), married (66.7%) and from urban (65.3%) background. Out of 150, 84 (56%) had depressive disorder, 45 (30%) had anxiety disorder, 15 (10%) had OCD and only 6 (4%) had substance use disorders. 69 (46%) participants had IA (36 mild and 33 moderate) and none had severe IA. A significant association was found between IA and CMDs (P < 0.05). Age, marital status, and type of residence were independent predictors or risk factors for IA.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 The index study concludes that there is a strong association between CMDs and IA. Yet only a few studies from India have attempted to explore the region-specific prevalence and determinants of suicidal behavior. Considering this research gap, the present study was undertaken to capture the prevalence and sociodemographic determinants of suicidal behavior among college-going young adults residing in Delhi.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 This cross-sectional study was carried out among 272 (59.20% females) college-going young adults (aged 18–30 years) of Delhi. Data on sociodemographic variables were captured through a pretested and modified interview schedule. Screening for suicidal behavior was done using the Suicide Behavior Questionnaire-Revised. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 22.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 Suicidal behavior was present in 18.01% of the studied participants. The prevalence of suicidal behavior was significantly higher among females (21.73%) than among males (12.61%) (P < 0.05), suggesting females are at a higher risk than males. Other sociodemographic variables (age, education level, state of origin, social category, religion, and family income) were not found to be associated with suicidal behavior except for the social category, where participants belonging to reserved castes were found to be at relatively lower risk of having suicidal behavior than those belonging to the unreserved category.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 The prevalence of suicidal behavior among the participants is quite high. Studies have shown that women experiencing Intimate Partner Violence are more likely to report somatic symptoms. This systematic review aims to evaluate the prevalence and clinical correlates of IPV in women presenting with MUS and somatoform disorders.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 We searched MEDLINE, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Scopus and Gray literature via Google scholar. We included studies which gave data on prevalence of Intimate Partner Violence in women with somatoform disorders and medically unexplained symptoms from 2000 to 2020. The Inclusion criteria for this review were women between 18-59 years of age with a diagnosis of somatoform disorders or medically unexplained symptoms and outcome measure taken as prevalence of IPV.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 A total of 157 articles were screened of which 2 articles were taken for data extraction. The two studies included for data extraction were not suitable for prevalence estimates. There appeared to be no uniformity in identifying medically unexplained symptoms and Intimate Partner Violence.\u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 This systematic review shows an appalling gap in research in women with medically unexplained symptoms.
