This study used three-dimensional (3D) stomach models to simulate different gastrectomies and identify anatomical landmarks for resection sites.</div></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><div>We constructed 3D stomach models from preoperative computed tomography scans of 42 early gastric cancer patients who underwent total gastrectomy, using artificial intelligence–based software. Additional 3D perigastric vascular models were generated for 30 patients to identify landmarks for resection. The lengths and volumes of the resected and remaining stomachs were measured.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>In both distal gastrectomy (DG) and proximal gastrectomy (PG), the landmark of the resection line on the lesser curvature (LC) side was defined as the lower border of the esophagogastric junction. On the greater curvature (GC) side, the simulated resection line in DG was close to the first branch of the left gastroepiploic artery (18/30), while that in PG corresponded to the last branch of the right gastroepiploic artery (15/30). The mean total volume of the 3D stomach model was 614.5 ± 182.0 mm<sup>3</sup>. When cutting along the GC and LC at 3, 5, and 7 cm from the pylorus, the remaining mean antrum volumes (%) were 7.8 ± 3.22 mm<sup>3</sup>, 12.83 ± 4.72 mm<sup>3</sup>, and 18.72 ± 6.15 mm<sup>3</sup>, respectively.</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>Preoperative CT-based 3D stomach models were feasible for estimating remnant gastric volume and predicting resection landmarks, which frequently corresponded with conventional resection lines for DG, PG and PPG, despite individual variations. These findings suggest potential value for surgical planning, although further prospective validation is warranted.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":55454,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Surgery","volume":"49 5","pages":"Pages 2551-2558"},"PeriodicalIF":3.8,"publicationDate":"2026-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147756593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The short-term(3 weeks) improvement in ROM was similar between two groups (<em>P</em> &gt; 0.05), but the mid-term(6 weeks) and mid-to-long term(12 weeks) efficacy of HAG was better (<em>P</em> &lt; 0.05). In terms of Constant-Murley Score(CMS), HAG showed better short-term efficacy in pain score, activities of daily living score, active range of motion, and abduction muscle strength (<em>P</em> &lt; 0.05), while there was no significant difference in abduction muscle strength between two groups in the mid-to-long term (<em>P</em> &gt; 0.05). HAG showed better improvement in Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) scores than AG in all of short-term mid-term and mid-to-long term (<em>P</em> &lt; 0.05). However, limited studies have been conducted in SLNB for lower extremity malignant melanoma in Asians.</div></div><div><h3>Objectives</h3><div>We used coaxial projective lymphography to demonstrate a technique for SLNB in lower extremity malignant melanoma and evaluated the accuracy and efficacy of this new technique.</div></div><div><h3>Methods</h3><div>Twenty patients with lower extremity malignant melanoma who underwent SLNB were enrolled in this prospective study. All the patients had SLNB performed under the guidance of Indocyanine Green (ICG) based coaxial projective lymphography. Tissue samples of suspicious lymph nodes with or without ICG labeling were excised, and analyzed by intraoperative frozen section examination and pathological examination. The SLNs were identified by coaxial projective lymphography before and after skin incision and the localization accuracy was compared with that based on the surgeons’ experience.</div></div><div><h3>Results</h3><div>The accuracy of locating SLNs with ICG-based coaxial projective lymphography was 95 % (n = 19) before skin incision and 100 % (n = 20) after skin incision. The coaxial projective lymphography detection rate of lymph nodes was significantly higher than that of surgeons based on their experience.</div></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><div>ICG-based coaxial projective lymphography can accurately localize SLNs on the inguinal surface of patients with lower extremity malignant melanoma.
