Previous topological optimum design methods suffered from financial burden and mathematical complexity. To overcome these shortcomings, a modified quantum-inspired evolutionary algorithm-based topology optimization method is proposed. This nested approach combines the classic solid isotropic microstructure with the penalization method and the double chains quantum genetic algorithm to establish an integral topology optimization framework. The former is utilized to determine the search direction of design variable updating. Meanwhile, the latter ensures abundant search diversity. The validity and feasibility of the developed methodology are eventually demonstrated by several application examples. The results indicate that the proposed optimization framework is independent of initial values and can lead to optimized structures. In addition, it will be more appropriate and effective if this strategy is deployed on a quantum computer in the future.","PeriodicalId":54968,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computational Methods","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2022-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44815353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The platelet structure is composed of a membrane cortex and a marginal band (MB). The membrane cortex is assumed in a spherical shape in its initial state and modeled using spring-network elements widely used for the similar membrane structure of red blood cells. The MB is modeled as one solid torus, which employs the hyperelastic material model, and is confined inside the cortex through a contact model. In the initial equilibrium state, the platelet has a stable, flat, and discoid shape. Upon activation, the possible mechanism of the unbinding rate of crosslink between the microtubules (MTs) is assumed to break the homogeneous stiffness of the MB, which causes the platelet to have a disc-to-sphere morphological transition. The numerical results and the experimental images of the MBs show good agreement. The proposed model provides a novelty in relating the mechanical property changes of the MB to the platelet morphological changes upon activation, thus, can provide a possible engineering tool to reveal the intriguing behavior of platelet upon activation.</p>","PeriodicalId":54968,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computational Methods","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.6,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC12306581/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48063029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Existence and uniqueness results for such problems are established using the fixed-point theorems. This guarantees the uniform convergence of the proposed iterative algorithm. The resulting iterative solutions does not contain any unknown constants and automatically satisfy the given boundary conditions. This gives the iterative method much wider applicability in obtaining the analytical or numerical solution of the problem. The performance of the proposed approach is assessed and tested on four examples.","PeriodicalId":54968,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Computational Methods","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2022-11-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45825518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
