Methods We have searched several databases including PubMed, EMbase, Web of science, EBSCO and Cochrane library databases, and selected the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing the efficacy of trigeminal nerve stimulation for migraine patients. This meta-analysis was conducted using the random-effect or fixed-effect model based on the heterogeneity. Results Four RCTs were included in this meta-analysis. Compared with sham procedure in migraine patients, trigeminal neurostimulation benefited to improve pain freedom at 2 h (OR=2.69; 95% CI=1.30 to 5.56; P=0.007), pain relief at 2 h (OR=2.05; 95% CI=1.53 to 2.74; P<0.00001), pain freedom at 24 h (OR=2.00; 95% CI=1.42 to 2.81; P<0.0001) as well as pain relief at 24 h (OR=1.71; 95% CI=1.25 to 2.33; P=0.0007), and reduce rescue medication (OR=0.70; 95% CI=0.52 to 0.95; P=0.02), but demonstrated no obvious impact on the incidence of adverse events (OR=2.24; 95% CI=1.21 to 4.13; P=0.01). Conclusions Trigeminal nerve stimulation is effective and safe for the treatment of migraine patients.","PeriodicalId":54611,"journal":{"name":"Physikalische Medizin Rehabilitationsmedizin Kurortmedizin","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-02-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48419573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods The study included 52 elite adolescent Taekwondo athletes (26 in both male and female groups), who participated in advanced competitions at a training camp between January and December 2021. The lower back pain scale, Modified Oswestry Disability Index, isokinetic muscular function, and recovery time according to sex were assessed using an independent sample t-test. Pearson's correlation and simple linear regression analyses were used to evaluate the correlation between variables, and identify factors associated with pain. Results The lower back pain scale (p=0.003) and recovery time (p=0.018) significantly differed between the sexes. In all athletes, the pain scale was significantly correlated with the Modified Oswestry Disability Index (p<0.001) and recovery time (p<0.001). For each point increase in the pain scale, the Modified Oswestry Disability Index increased by 3.01 (p=0.001) and 3.25 (p=0.013) for males and females, respectively. In addition, recovery time increased by 1.70 days (p<0.001) and 1.98 days (p<0.001) in males and females, respectively. Conclusion These results may help generate the data needed to develop rehabilitation programs that improve an athlete’s performance.","PeriodicalId":54611,"journal":{"name":"Physikalische Medizin Rehabilitationsmedizin Kurortmedizin","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2023-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46951723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, we aimed to evaluate the short-term effects of KT on knee pain and maximal strength. Materials and Methods 25 subjects were divided into two groups: a) the control group participants (n=11) were without ACL-tear; and b) the experimental group participants (n=14) were with ACL-tear. Participants in the experimental group were tested under two conditions: with and without KT. Pain was recorded using the visual analog scale, isometric and concentric maximal voluntary contractions (MVCs) were measured using dynamometry, and limb symmetry index was calculated. Results Application of KT causes reduction in pain by 50 % (p<0.05), increases knee flexors and knee extensors isometric MVC and knee extensor concentric MVC at 60°/s angular velocity (p<0.05), and improves limb symmetry (p<0.05), but deficit of MVC as compared to healthy controls is maintained (p<0.05). Conclusions Short-term KT can be an effective tool for decreasing ACL-tear associated pain and muscle weakness.","PeriodicalId":54611,"journal":{"name":"Physikalische Medizin Rehabilitationsmedizin Kurortmedizin","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"57822641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Rehabilitation after Injuries of the Musculoskeletal System Sustained During Fitness Training","authors":"C. Lang","doi":"10.1055/a-2092-8485","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1055/a-2092-8485","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract The relevance of this study comes from the fact that with the growing popularity of fitness training, the number of injuries is also increasing. Injuries sustained during fitness activity can result in interruptions to one's daily life, loss of income, temporary or permanent disability. Along with physical discomfort, injuries sustained during physical activity lead to post-traumatic emotional reactions, often associated with depression, tension, anger and low self-esteem. All of these factors contribute to a deterioration in the overall quality of life of people who initially strive for an active and healthy lifestyle. Therefore, this article aims to identify effective techniques for the swift recovery process following injuries sustained during fitness activities. This treatment should include not only the physical but also the psycho-emotional aspect of rehabilitation. The leading investigation approach was a comprehensive theoretical research method, which led to the development of an innovative approach to rehabilitation after fitness injuries. The uniqueness of this method is that it was both individually oriented and universally accessible, regardless of the condition of the injured person. The study presents statistics of injuries and their classification after fitness sessions describes characteristic psycho-emotional disorders associated with post-traumatic syndrome, outlines methods of rehabilitation and substantiates its use for effective comprehensive recovery of people striving to lead an active life. The materials of this article are of practical value for trainers of fitness centres of all specialisations, doctors of rehabilitation centres, family doctors, and physiotherapists, who will be able to apply this method of rehabilitation directly and thus improve the quality of life of the patient, helping them to regain an active lifestyle and restore their psycho-emotional health.","PeriodicalId":54611,"journal":{"name":"Physikalische Medizin Rehabilitationsmedizin Kurortmedizin","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.8,"publicationDate":"2022-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42137030","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
