The possibility of using a stable isotope of iodine to determine the adsorption capacity of carbon sorbents is substantiated. The development, installation, start-up and adjustment of the pumping module and the measuring module were carried out when using air mixtures with methyl iodide based on the stable isotope of iodine 127I. The developed software allows you to use the stand in automatic mode. The manual for the operation of the SKIF stand was created and the method of determining the coefficient of purification of ventilated air from methyl iodide by carbon sorbents was certified within the framework of the enterprise standard.

This is an improved model of an ozone destructor, consisting of two parts, which significantly increases the contact area of activated carbon with ozone. This destructor design is suitable for ozone concentrations of 100…120 mg/l at an oxygen flow rate of 1 l/min. A study was conducted to determine the dependence of the temperature of carbon at the contact point with ozone depending on the amount of decomposed ozone at various oxygen flow rate. It was monitored that output ozone did not exceed the maximum permissible concentration in the working area proving the effectiveness of the developed ozone destructor.

The effect of annealing for 1 h at 500, 600, and 700 °C was studied. Characterization of the phase and structural state of the coating by X-ray diffractometry and small-angle X-ray reflectometry was carried out. It was found that during the annealing process, the tungsten layers in the multilayer composition did not undergo significant changes, and all alterations occur only in the Ti41Zr41Ni18 layers. Annealing affected the thickness of the layers, density, and interlayer roughness. It has been experimentally shown that the phase transformation ”quasicrystal → 2/1 crystalline approximant” is accompanied by an 8.3% volume increase compared to the volume of the quasicrystalline phase, but this does not lead to the destruction of the periodic composition. The multilayer structure proved to be resistant to high temperatures and, despite phase changes, did not lose its bond with the substrate. The used combination of materials and the high annealing temperature did not generate significant internal stresses or mechanical damage. The results obtained in this study allow for the further controlled formation of layered quasicrystal/tungsten microsystems of various designs with different layer thicknesses. The next perspective involves conducting practical tests with plasma to study the radiation-thermal impact.

Being the largest among others in Europe, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has a large dry storage facility for spent nuclear fuel. The armed attack of Russia has endangered nuclear and physical safety in Ukraine. Beginning on 24 February, 2022, the hostilities were activated in the country. The activization of the warfare has led to the capture of the ZNPP by the Russian militaries (4 March, 2022) and to their presence of the ZNPP. This situation causes justifiable concern about the potential detrimental effect on the nuclear and physical safety under service conditions of nuclear power units and at radioactive sourcerelated activities. This paper is concerned with simulation of the radionuclide propagation under external extreme events in the NPP zone, using the ZNPP as an example. The transfer of 137Cs radionuclide has been simulated for the\u0000hypothetical ZNPP failure at meteorological conditions as of 23 to 25 August, 2022. According to the simulation data, throughout 23–25 August, 2022, the highest 137Cs concentration values might be observed within the Ukraine territory, particularly in the near-field zone, 50…100 km in radius, from the emission point. Besides, the radioactive\u0000impurities could be carried off to the neighboring state areas.

To determine damage due to irradiation influence, the classical method of Continuum Damage Mechanics was used. The proposed approach of qualitative reproduction of the effects of damage accumulation was used due to the lack of experimental data on the long-term behavior of the material under consideration (steel 08X18N9T) under the given conditions of temperature and\u0000radiation exposure. The previously studied influence of the effects of various processes on the hidden damage accumulation was used to reproduce it in the proposed equation. The influence of the type of stress state due to the invariants of the stress tensor and deviator is taken into account. The effect of hydrogen embrittlement is reflected\u0000using known data from experiments performed at the macro level, taking into account changes in the modulus of elasticity. The resulting function entered the evolution equation in an exponential form. The developed evolution equation for the damage parameter is added to the previously proven method and software for modeling structural elements exposed to thermal, force and irradiation fields. Examples of the analysis of problems of deformation, damage and fracture of specimens and a tube with a hole, in which the behavior of the corresponding zones of the reactor baffle is simulated, are provided. The performed numerical calculations showed the possibility of practical assessment of the deformed state and the level of acquired hidden damage.

A method of determining the conditions for the occurrence of thermal hydrodynamic instability (THI) in passive safety systems with natural circulation circuits (PSS NC) has been developed, based on the fundamental thermodynamic principles of analyzing the impact on stability of fluctuating deviations of pressure and mass flow of the working medium from the established (equilibrium) state. Using the examples of the small modular reactor (SMP) and the high power reactor (АР1000) of the Westinghouse company, the criteria and conditions of THI in accidents with leaks in the natural circulation circuits of the NPP are defined in a general format. The developed method of determining the criteria and conditions of THI in PSS NC can be applied by design, operating and regulatory organizations for deterministic analysis of the safety of NPPs of the AP/SMP type.

It has energy dependence close to the CB beam spectrum and depends on the CB peak energy. Thus, in the course of the cross section measurements, the systematic, measurements of the tagging efficiency should be usually produced. The paper shows that tagging efficiency can be estimated computationally by taking into account the background contribution to the detectors of the tagging system. This allows one to get cross sections simultaneously with the cross section asymmetry measurements in the case when the systematic tagging efficiency measurements were not performed.
