During a pandemic, doctors are or are not willing to work due to numerous factors. Studies have shown that doctors tend to prioritize their own safety and the safety of their families. Objective. We have built a profile for doctors who prioritize their own safety and the safety of their families during a pandemic. Method. A total of 1285 Romanian doctors completed an online survey belonging to a larger study. We used a logistical binary regression to build a profile for doctors who consider their own safety and the safety of their families as having priority. All the participants responded, among other things, to an item about responsibility. We performed Backward-Wald computations to determine the best predictors. Results. We reached seven predictors that could differentiate between respondents who tended to agree with the responsibility statement and those who tended to disagree. The Cox and Snell pseudo R2 coefficient were.11. The predictors referred to: leaving the job to protect family, transportation, new job responsibilities, necessity of wage, needing to contribute, abandoning patients and working in a different hospital. Conclusion. The results show that doctors are not necessarily aligned with the theoretical “duty to care”. Those who prioritize safety for themselves and for their families seem to feel strongly about a hierarchy of values they have. For these doctors, institutional responsibility might take precedence with respect to patients, so they do not feel a sense of abandoning their patients if they don’t show up to work.","PeriodicalId":54450,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Legal Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49493964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present research is a longitudinal study with the aim of highlighting the effect of the pandemic on the frequency of aggressions from a forensic perspective. The hypothesis started from the premise that the aggressions showed an increasing trend during the pandemic, indicating a significant difference between the number of aggressions in the previous period and the number of aggressions in the pandemic and post-pandemic period. Population. The sample of the study consisted of 420 people who were identified by forensic findings at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of Cluj Napoca, as victims of aggression between 2019-2022. The results showed significant differences in the number of aggressions during the pandemic period resulting in an upward trend. Conclusions. The pandemic period had a significant impact on aggressive behaviors, with a tendency of an increased number of aggressions.","PeriodicalId":54450,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Legal Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2022-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43771105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If the disease is detected, the identification of viral RNA in pathological products harvested from the respiratory tract by molecular tests (RT-PCR) is the absolute recommendation. Serological tests have a role in estimating the extent of the population's immunization. Due to the high risk of infra-community transmission, it is essential to implement a surveillance program of all possible virus transmission routes. The purpose of the study was in line with the current epidemiological situation, to evaluate a molecular tool for improving the control of the spread of SARS-CoV-2, for risk assessment and for the development of a protocol for the epidemiological management of the COVID- 19 pandemic. An advantage is the access to a considerable number of cases - Bucharest ranked 1st place in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 on 30.09.2021.","PeriodicalId":54450,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Legal Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46573347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SARS_CoV_2 pandemic triggered international measures, from genomic sequencing, PCR tests and accelerated studies for vaccines and treatments approval, to extreme restriction of civil rights, through stringent measures as social distance, work and online education etc. The lack of population??s adherence to the authorities?? measures can compromise the success in limiting the pandemic. Material and method. This cross-sectional study identified the opinions of vaccinated and unvaccinated participants regarding the severity of the pandemic, vaccination and stringency measures, the objective being to highlight the ethical and moral aspects on which these opinions are based. The responders (n = 412) declared their vaccinal status in a questionnaire, their opinions on disease, on the vaccine, their attitude towards the green certificate etc. The data analysis followed the internal consistency of the questionnaire through Cronbach???s alpha, correlations, inferential tests. Results. Respondents are not worried about getting sick at work but are concerned about their families and friends safety;are not convinced of the quality of approved vaccines (for which regulators cannot guarantee the safety);are concerned about the lack of transparency in pharmacovigilance and vaccine efficacy studies;they think that vaccines do not stop the viruses transmission, do not provide lasting protection or eradicate the virus. They consider that both the virus and human immune response are insufficiently known and the green certificate does not limit the burden of disease, being discriminatory. Conclusions. For the quality of life, already compromised in the pandemic, the absence of restrictions and voluntary vaccination are important.","PeriodicalId":54450,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Legal Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45570418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vaccination is one of the greatest advancements in medicine regarding prevention of severe infectious diseases. The current COVID-19 pandemic placed a tremendous burden on the shoulders of national and international health and governmental authorities, which fueled a common effort to produce a vaccine against this disease. Material and method. The authors performed a prospective quantitative research, based on an on-line questionnaire, regarding the attitude of medical students studying in Romania toward COVID-19 vaccination and the factors that influence their decision. Results. 511 students participated in the survey, both Romanian and foreign students, of which 78.3% agree with COVID-19 vaccination. The following factors influenced positively the decision to accept the vaccine: studying in Romanian language, having acquaintances suffering from COVID-19, taking care of COVID-19 patients, positive attitude towards vaccines in general, trusting the authorities, having a higher level of fear of infection and a lower level of fear of side effects. Conclusions. The results of our study highlighted the factors that influence the attitude of medical students towards vaccination. Given that the future doctors will have a decisive role in consolidating a safer and more certain future of medicine, it is important that these factors are addressed and targeted by the strategic programs to make them understand the importance of immunization of the population against severe infectious diseases.","PeriodicalId":54450,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Legal Medicine","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47857519","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
