Zagranichniy","doi":"10.17759/sps.2022130109","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17759/sps.2022130109","url":null,"abstract":"Objective. Study of the relationship between the forms of social activity of young people with the phenomena of civic consciousness, motivation and socio-demographic characteristics.Background. The living conditions and activities of modern youth are characterized by a variety of social activities, an increase in social contacts, at the same time, a transformation of communication, an increase in the number of its virtual forms. It requires scientific understanding and socio-psychological analysis of the structure and motivation of the social activity of young people, its relationship with civic consciousness.Study design. The work studied the numerous interrelationships of 18 forms of social activity of young people, the predisposition to which was determined by self-esteem according to the author’s scales. Then each form of social activity was assessed by the respondents at three levels: 1) communication, discussion, organization; 2) individual implementation; 3) collective interaction. The method of factor analysis was used to determine and interpret the enlarged groups of social activity. the motives of social activity were identified and a comparative analysis of the severity of motives in the groups of men and women was carried out. The relationship between the forms of social activity of young people and various parameters of civic consciousness and readiness to support various ideas for the development of the country and region of residence was determined by correlation analysis. All author’s scales have been peer reviewed by social psychologists and tested for internal consistency.Participants. 764 respondents, average age 19.7 years (64.5% women, 35.5% men). 85% — unmarried, living in rural areas — 6.1%, in small towns — 19.3%, in large cities (regional centers) — 68.4% and 6.2% of megalopolis residents. 77.7% have completed secondary (school) education, 7.6% — secondary vocational education, 14.7% — higher education.Measurements. Scales aimed at measuring various types of social activity (R.M. Shamionov, M.V. Grigoryeva, I.V. Arendachuk, etc.). Author’s scales aimed at studying individual forms and levels of manifestation of social activity and identifying the motivation and civic consciousness of young people.Results. The structure of social activity includes three levels: 1) communication, discussion, organization; 2) individual implementation; 3) collective interaction. At each of the presented levels, forms of social activity are realized, the most important of which are 18 — altruistic, leisure, sports and recreation, cultural, family and household, environmental, socio-political, Internet network, Internet search, civil, social economic, professional, educational and developmental, spiritual, religious, protest, radical protest, subcultural activity. {"title":"Verbal and Nonverbal Strategies of Interaction between Active and Passive Smokers in Situations of Smoking in Public Places: a Method of Case Formulation","authors":"I. Bedina, T. Kochetova","doi":"10.17759/sps.2022130306","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.17759/sps.2022130306","url":null,"abstract":"Objective. Identification of the features of social perception in situations of smoking in public places, as well as patterns and strategies of interaction in the communicative practices of active and passive smokers in public urban spaces using the “case formulation” method.Background. Because of the non-compliance with the law on smoking in public places, the issue of combating such violations becomes urgent. But it is important to use not only the administrative resources of the state, but also social control. Searching for the features of communicative practices of both active and passive smokers in relation to each other, their mutual social perception and factors influencing the interaction between them will help to suggest effective ways to use social capital to combat the problem of smoking in public places.Study design. The paper studied cases related to the behavior of smokers and non-smokers in an open urban space. Using the interpretation of qualitative data, categories and subcategories corresponding to the patterns of behavior of subjects and their mutual perception from both interacting groups were identified. Categories and subcategories were formed by data encoding.Participants. For the study, 4 cases of interaction between active and passive smokers in Tverskaya Street were selected by random sampling.Measurements. The method of covert observation with a passive type of participation was chosen. 4 observation sessions were conducted the results of which formed the basis of the cases. The observation involved the study of the behavior of subjects in relation to each other, including verbal and nonverbal signs exchanged by communication participants; features of urban spaces in which communication takes place; the place of interaction.Results. Active and passive smokers use verbal and nonverbal interaction strategies, which are characterized by some features of social perception. Thus, verbal ones include an impersonal expression of discontent, an appeal to the fact of smoking, an appeal to the smell; non-verbal ones — most often motor ones: slowing down the step, accelerating the step/overtaking, as well as changing the trajectory of smoke.Conclusions. The using of the case formulation method opens up opportunities for studying various communicative practices in the modern urban environment. It is important to conduct communication campaigns aimed at both violators and people affected by their actions. The study of the characteristics of the social activity of young people in conditions of restrictions associated with forced isolation, aimed at identifying the features of the manifestation of its compensatory forms due to social frustration. Background. The psychological aspects of the problem of social activity of an individual limited by new social norms and rules due to the spread of coronavirus infection require a more complete study. In this regard the question of the characteristics that determine the characteristics of youth activity in different spheres of life. Study design. The paper analyzes the specificity in the manifestation of social activity among Russian youth in connection with forced social restrictions. The dependence of various forms of social activity by its psychological characteristics. The hypothesis about the socially oriented orientation of youth activity in conditions of social isolation is tested. Participants. Representatives of Russian youth: 409 people (74% women, 26% men) from 17 to 30 years old (M=21.35; SD=3.78). Measurements. Questionnaire for the study of socio-demographic characteristics and the severity of various forms of social activity (R.M. Shamionov et al.); the methods “Personality activity in conditions of forced social restrictions” (N.V. Usova et al.). Results. In the conditions of forced social restrictions youth have increased family-household, civil, educational-developmental, Internet-network and Internet-search forms of activity, the severity of leisure and socio-economic activity decreases, and there are no changes in its other forms of manifestation. Leisure, civic, socio-economic and educational-developmental activity of young people is characterized by frustration at the consequences of forced social restrictions, the severity of compensatory forms and the activation of additional personal resources. Internet-network and Internet-search activity is aimed at social contacts and itself acts as a form of compensation for other types of activity during the period of self-isolation. Conclusions. Changes in the manifestation of the social activity of young people during the period of social isolation are diachronic in nature. The main characteristics reflecting the specificity of social activity in its various forms are established. To describe the relations between liking visual representations of male same-sex romance and gender representations of young female fans of BL. Background. Nowadays there is a globally spread interest in manga among teenagers. Manga has a vast diversity of styles, genres, and followers. Nevertheless, some heterosexual girls quite often demonstrate stable interest in the manga sub-genre focusing on homoerotic relationships between young – and frequently androgynous – male characters. This research has addressed an issue whether heterosexual girls’ liking for visual representations of male homosexuality in Boy’s Love (BL) comics relates to their gender representations. Study design. The survey among the members of the Internet Social Media Manga Publics included: description of socio-psychological effects of viewing BL pictures, scaling attitudes towards masculinity ideology, exploration of gender role beliefs and description of femininity concepts. Comparison of the data between BL fans and other members of Manga Publics being acquainted with Boys’ Love, but deliberately neglecting it. Mann–Whitney U test, Fisher F test, and Pearson’s chi-squared test are used. Participants. Russian sample: 140 female respondents 11-45 years old (M=17,95; SD=4,84). Main group consists of 90 respondents 11-45 years old (M=18,88; SD=5,22). Control group consists of 50 respondents 12-27 years old (M=16,79; SD=3,10). Measurements. Sonenstein, L.C. Ku. Gendered Personality Characteristics (I.S. Klyotsina). Masculinity and Femininity Questionnaire by T.A. Bessonova – psycho-semantic version by N.V. Dvoryanchikov for examining individual femininity constructs. Results. Girls that fond of homoerotic drawn fictions prefer non-normative gendered traits combinations and give specific interpretation of their femininity. BL followers significantly often describe their femininity with traditionally masculine traits. Gender polarization is weak. Gender identity of female BL fans comply with non-orthogonal conceptualization. They believe that core of gender identity in every human being should consist of gender-neutral characteristics. Male emotionality, represented in homoerotic drawings, arrests attention of all respondents. But BL fans are less likely to perceive men in the light of normative (hegemonic) masculinity. Conclusions. It contains very different initiatives – ranging from civil, political and economic to subcultural and radical protest. The most important task is to study the value factors of a person’s commitment to various forms of activity. Such scientific knowledge will allow us to establish the features of the value regulation of activity.Study design. The relationship between values and commitment to various forms of social activity. The presence and peculiarities of the relationship were recorded through correlation and regression analyses.Participants. 500 residents of Russia (average age M=21,6; 35,5% men, 64,5% women).Measurements. A questionnaire was applied, including 18 scale questions, meaningfully describing the forms of social activity (Shamionov R.M., & et al. ), followed by factorization of the data obtained, on the basis of which “new” variables of civil, protest, Internet-network and leisure activity were derived; “Portrait value questionnaire” Sh. Schwartz (PVQ-R2) with fixation of 19 basic values.Results. Various forms of social activity of young people form 4 enlarged groups (types) based on factor analysis: civil, protest, leisure and Internet network. The commitment of young people to leisure and Internet network activity is most pronounced. The interrelationships of types of activity and values cover all sectors of the circular motivational continuum of values. Schwartz. To describe the specific ways of age perceptions in men and women of the same age. Background. The relevance of the study is grounded in the fundamental nature of age construction due to social perception and the shortage of research on gender-age dimensions of perceived age. Study design. Photos of three pairs of the same aged men/women were presented to age evaluations by between comparison and direct evaluation. Participants. The \"Between comparison\" subsample consisted of 155 people (109 women, 46 men aged 17-60 years), the \"Direct evaluation\" subsample consisted of 60 people (47 women, 13 men aged 17-77 years). Measurements. \"Photo-video-presentation of appearance\" procedure designed by T.A. Vorontsova. Results. Gender asymmetry was found in age perception of men and women: young women are perceived to be older than men of the same ages, mature women are perceived younger. We found that the older the woman, more salient is gender asymmetry in age perception. The age construction of men and women of the same age due to social perception is influenced by age and gender of perceived individual: the greater age difference between perceiving individual and perceived social object, the less the difference in the perceived age of men and women of the same age if the perceived objects are highly older than perceiving subjects. Among male perceiving subjects, we found higher proportion of those who evaluate all women (of any ages) older than men; and among women there are higher proportion of those who evaluate any male older than females. Actualization of different mechanisms of social cognition (comparison and evaluation) when constructing the perceived age of unfamiliar men and women gives similar results. Conclusions. One of the key components for promoting wellbeing is providing a reliable measurement tool for its assessment.Study design. The translation, adaptation and validation process was subdivided into 3 stages. At the 1st stage English version of the PERMA-Profiler was translated into Russian. At the 2nd stage we assessed of the structural and convergent validity, reliability by the internal consistency of the items of the questionnaire. The main task of the 3rd stage of the study was to check the retest reliability of the PERMA-Profiler questionnaire by conducting a correlation analysis of the values of the questionnaire components obtained at the second and third stages.Participants. The main psychometric sample included 6229 participants aged between 18 and 62 years. All participants live in the Russian Federation.Method. The study used the questionnaires “Psychological Well-Being Scale” by K. Riff, “Well-being, Activity, Mood”, Subjective Feeling of Loneliness Scale by D. Russell, L. Peplo, M. Ferguson, “Life Satisfaction Scale” by E. Diner. Correlation analysis, confirmation factor analysis, analysis of scales by internal consistency and the half method were used for data processing and analysis cleavage.Results. The expected structure of the PERMA-Profiler questionnaire was confirmed. For this reason, determining the variables that affect adolescents’ choice of friends and regulating their friendships are of great importance.Study design. In determining the friendship quality of students, success impulse control, the effect of gender and the role of the democratic family and the order of importance were examined. For this purpose, descriptive statistics and Pearson’s Product-Moment coefficient and stepwise regression analysis were used in the research.Participants. The research was conducted with 589 students attending three different high schools in Küçükçekmece, İstanbul. Mean age of the students was 16.18 (SD=1,22) and their mean achievement was 74.25 (SD=3,42).Measurements. In this study Barratt Impulsiveness Scale, Friendship Quality Scale, and Parenting Style Scale were utilized, and grade points of the students were taken from their school reports of the previous year for their achievement levels.Results. According to the results, students’ friendship quality scores were positively correlated with impulse control, achievement, democratic parenting style, and gender. The article proposes a brief look at the development of the theory of SR and empirical approaches to SRs. The main methods of research of the SRs are discussed.Conclusions. Observing the development of the theory of SRs over the past decade, the authors find new arguments in favor of the idea expressed by G. Review of the concepts of “evidence-based approach in management”, “evidence-based management”, and “evidence-based policy”. Systematization of factors that inhibit and contribute to the dissemination of evidence-based management practices in the social sphere. Identification of priority measures to support the development of an evidence-based approach in the management in the social sphere. Background. Executives in general, and also in the social sphere, are facing challenges of an increasing level of uncertainty, which brings difficulties to make reliable forecasts and make decisions with guaranteed results. At the same time, there is a systemic crisis of resources, requiring the choice of strategies and tactics that provide the highest level of performance. An additional challenge is the increasing amount of operations and the emerging need for managers to make quick management decisions. Against this background, the evidence-based approach acquires particular importance, based on the idea of the need to rely on the findings of research and expertise, providing managers with relevant data for choosing certain areas of action. Methodology. Literature review. Conclusions. The evidence-based approach in management is a range of practices with various severity of requirements, connected by the need for evidence-based and expert data for decision-making. Evidence-based management is a process of implementing an evidence-based approach within the framework of the activities of different level managers. Evidence-based policy is the implementation of evidence-based principles in making political decisions. Promotion of the evidence-based approach in management encounters several barriers such as assessment, used methodology, finance.
