One of the most effective methods is structuring teams by the team members’ affinities and talents presented as team roles. In this paper, we applied Belbin’s Self-Perception Inventory in order to investigate the following questions: Which are the most engaged team roles? How does the absence of the most engaged team members affect the team’s efficiency? How does this change of the team environment affect the member? Our results show that, even in small project teams, changes in team structure will surely have a negative effect on the team’s organizational culture in a short run, and even more importantly they decrease the team’s overall productivity. Also, the changes had a negative effect at the individual level ; teams had trouble integrating new members, and individuals had trouble integrating themselves in new teams.","PeriodicalId":53887,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek-e-GFOS","volume":"6 1","pages":"58-66"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2015-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66266260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the most difficult cases, the soil is improved by using pile foundations. When constructing pile foundations, it is necessary to ensure efficient load transfer from the embankment to the piles, which can be achieved using reinforced soil construction with geosynthetics as reinforcement material. In this paper, we compare the calculations of a bearing capacity of such a platform according to the British and the German standards on the example of a level crossing over a railway line. We describe other calculation methods, critically reviewing the fundamental mechanisms of the reinforcement effects in the calculations.","PeriodicalId":53887,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek-e-GFOS","volume":"6 1","pages":"30-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2015-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66266195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Present article deals with the issue(s) of silo steel wall design from the aspect of proposed changes related to the assessment of buckling resistance of the silo steel wall(s). The parametric analysis was performed according to the current standard, HRN EN 1993-4-1, and proposed amendment, EN 1993-4-1:2007/FprA1 by taking into account the silo fabrication quality parameter, as well as, the variations of the steel quality, wall thickness and wall curvature radius. The obtained results indicate that the new proposed amendment ensures a more realistic assessment of the silo steel wall buckling resistance. In that way the savings of material and economic benefit can be achieved easily.","PeriodicalId":53887,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek-e-GFOS","volume":"6 1","pages":"47-57"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2015-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.13167/2015.10.6","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66266250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various optimization methods are used in calibration, and the one method that has shown success is neural networks. This paper shows the responses of neural networks during calibration of a microsimulation traffic model. We analyzed two calibration methods by applying neural networks and comparing their neural network learning (according to their achieved correlation and the mean error of prediction) and their generalization ability (comparison of generalization results was analyzed in two steps). The best correlation between the microsimulation results and neural network prediction was 88.3%, achieved for the traveling time prediction, on which the first calibration method is based.","PeriodicalId":53887,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek-e-GFOS","volume":"6 1","pages":"67-76"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2015-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66266266","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we investigated how varying the type of window affects the airtightness values of residential units. We studied three sets of residential units, each comprising two residential units with the same geometry and year of construction, varying only the installed window type and window-frame material. A brief explanation is included of the blower-door method, used in field-testing the airtightness of residential units. Replacing the old windows in the residential units with newer windows significantly improved the airtightness. To generalize these results, further research is needed with larger samples.","PeriodicalId":53887,"journal":{"name":"Electronic Journal of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek-e-GFOS","volume":"5 1","pages":"34-40"},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2014-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66265905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
