There is a connection between the changes in vehicle energy efficiency and fuel consumption together with time needed for vehicle acceleration. The paper comprises the measurement results performed at stabilized speeds as well as during vehicle acceleration. The final part of the paper outlines the result of calculation of change in vehicle energy efficiency resulting from air conditioning unit used during New European Driving Cycle.","PeriodicalId":53430,"journal":{"name":"Applied Engineering Letters","volume":"64 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78630690","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, in the pursuit of achieving better phase separation by controlling the maldistribution occurred in the component phases of a mixture at the junction, industries often utilise reduced T-junctions. Nevertheless, most of the published data in which industries was based on to adopt the previous configuration was relating on fully horizontal T-junctions with large main pipe diameters although T-junctions are rarely placed in a horizontal position in such industries, whilst the usage of small main pipe diameters could also lead to scaling down their size. In this regard, the present paper aimed to extend the available data by performing numerical analysis and studying both regular and reduced T-junctions with a small main pipe diameter, and upward inclination angles. It was observed that reduced T-junctions performed worse in terms of phase separation compared to regular T-junctions for all inlet conditions applied and irrespective of the side arm inclination, whereas in case of regular T-junctions a superior separation performance was ensured for the inclined side arm at 30°.","PeriodicalId":53430,"journal":{"name":"Applied Engineering Letters","volume":"39 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75429775","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the key areas identified as the most complicated problem in the negotiation process is the issues of environmental protection and improvement, including the energy sector. Since population in Serbia is concerned because of poor living standards, high unemployment rate, and other social issues it could be questioned what is their concern and awareness about climate change since it is a realistic and visible phenomenon that is hard for someone to ignore and neglect. This paper presents some of the results of a survey conducted among adults in rural and urban parts of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina on their perception, awareness, and knowledge about climate change issues. The research/survey also examined the specific actions that respondents would take as a personal contribution to mitigating the effects of climate problems. The results indicate that respondents have a high awareness of climate change, but the knowledge on climate change is relatively low even though the respondents graduated from faculty (about 52%).","PeriodicalId":53430,"journal":{"name":"Applied Engineering Letters","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76838722","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They can be usage for self-propelled automotive components and aircraft construction. Metal matrix composite (MMC) concentrate chiefly on amended specific strength and wear resistance application. Aluminium as base material and coconut shell ash(CSA) as reinforcement has good potential. The principle difficult is to create this composite in a practical manner. In this project Al6061-CSAp castings with different volume fraction of CSA were produced in an argon atmosphere by an enhanced stir casting method. We found that with more % of CSA addition there is an improvement in specific strength of the composite. Pin on disc equipment used for dry sliding wear analysis of MMCs. The Taguchi analysis revealed the improved specific strength as well as wear resistance. EDS analyses showed oxide phases presence in the castings. Surface Morphology particle distribution were examined in detail by SEM. ARTICLE HISTORY Received: 05.06.2019. Accepted: 17.06.2019. Reynolds number is kept to a fixed value of 100 based on cylinder diameter (D). The working fluid used is water having a fixed Prandtl number of 7. The non-dimensional rotation rate is altered within the vortex shedding regime i.e. 0≤α≤1.5 in the steps of 0.25. The numerical results were computed via commercially accessible CFD software package FLUENT®. The governing flow equations are continuity, momentum, and energy equations have been resolved via constant wall temperature (CWT) boundary condition. The numerical outcomes are computed illustrating the variation in the lift coefficient, Strouhal number, average and local Nusselt number, vorticity and temperature contours around the isothermal rotating cylinder. The influence of the vortical gust is observed to stretch the shear layer in a typical manner. The vortical gust can be treated as an additional heat transfer suppression technique in conjunction with rotation for a circular cylinder. ARTICLE HISTORY Received: 27.03.2019. Accepted: 29.03.2019. This paper deals with possibilities to reduce the vehicle aerodynamic resistance, air drag coefficient. This resistance effects the vehicle fuel consumption by higher vehicle velocities at most.
