Beaini","doi":"10.21117/rbol-v7n22020-330","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21117/rbol-v7n22020-330","url":null,"abstract":"The Brazilian Code of Dental Ethics (CEO) was established in 1957 to regulate the practice of Dentistry and professional ethics. Since then, seven versions of the CEO have been published in attempt to keep up with the needs of the profession and evolvement of Brazilian society. However, in times of breaking ethical paradigms, it is necessary to recover the origin of the behavioral philosophy that governs the profession. This work aimed to analyze old versions of the CEO, comparing them with the current edition, evaluating the existing articles, changes and additions. The comparison of its versions allowed a better perception of the changes in the regulation of the dental profession over the decades and its motives. The evaluation of each article aimed to follow text changes, inclusions and exclusions in each version of the CEO, data that were analyzed qualitatively. This literature review offers an overview of data on domestic and intimate partner violence (IPV) as it currently stands in some countries during the pandemic, describing deep psychosocial issues that illustrate the intergenerational transmission of violent actions, uncovering how these acts are unconsciously reproduced within families serving as a sign for the lack of conscious differentiation between them and the cultural, socio-economic norms of the contexts in which they are immersed, contexts that act as if normalizing the brutality of gender inequality [violence as a representation of masculinity], minimizing the effects of witnessing to violence, and/or practicing violence as a form of discipline. Furthermore, it also includes recommendations that aim to mitigate risks and consequences of violence and emphasizes the urgency that must be in place to guarantee public access to health care services adapted to our new reality/COVID-19. A secrecao oleosa expelida pelas glândulas sebaceas e sudoriparas forma impressoes labiais latentes. Este estudo tem como o objetivo verificar se o po de toner e passivel de emprego na evidenciacao de impressoes labiais latentes, por meio de um caso pericial simulado. Um paciente da clinica odontologica foi convidado a participar do estudo. Os labios do paciente foram fotografados e pressionados contra uma taca de vidro e, em seguida, o po de toner foi depositado na superficie do vidro. A impressao labial revelada foi fixada com fita adesiva em uma ficha queiloscopica adaptada de Stamm (2014). O confronto foi realizado com a fotografia da impressao revelada e a fotografia dos labios do paciente visando pelo menos doze pontos coincidentes. Case report: Case 1. A 30-year-old female patient, referred to the Oral Medicine Clinic of State University of Rio de Janeiro for evaluation of a diffuse reddish lesion over her face and mouth. During the clinical examination, port-wine stains (PWS) were detected on the right side of her face and intraoral discoloration were suggestive of SWS. As the patient referred no symptoms, she was referred to a neurology team to investigate alterations in the central nervous system (CNS). Case 2. A 19-year-old woman was referred for evaluation of a 5-month lasting gingival bleeding in the right mandibular and maxillary alveolar mucosa. Extraoral exam showed the presence of PWS on the right side of her face. Intraorally, the gingival hyperplasia caused malocclusion, plaque deposition and severe bleeding. The SWS diagnosis was established due to these findings. Patient was referred for periodontal treatment. Case report: a 12-year young male, presented for consultation at the Stomatology clinic with the chief complaint of facial asymmetry and limited mouth opening. At the extraoral clinical examination, it could be observed the presence of facial swelling on the left side. At intraoral examination, swelling and erased vestibule in the left posterior region of the mandible was observed. The pano-ramic radiography showed an unilocular, radiolucent osteolytic lesion that involved the mandible body, angle and ramus and caused the upper displacement of tooth 38. Cone-beam computed tomography showed expansion of the buccal and lingual bone. In view of these findings the diagnostic hypotheses were: Dentigerous Cyst; Unicystic Ameloblastoma and Ameloblastic Fibroma. An incisional biopsy was performed, which established the definitive diagnosis of unicystic ameloblastoma. The patient underwent marsupialization and nine months later, enucleation. After a 7-year clinical follow-up, the patient remains free of the disease. Materials and Methods: sixteen human maxillary incisors and canines were selected and three 1-mm-discs were obtained from the middle third of each root. On the coronal surface of each disc, two 1.2-mm-wide-holes were drilled through the dentin. Then, artificial holes were filled with one of the tested materials: WMTA® and TheraCal LC®. The filled dental slices were stored in a phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) solution (pH 7.2) for 7 days at 37°C. After that, push-out assessment was performed with a 1.0-mm-plunger-tip. Load was applied at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min until sealer displacement. The results were expressed in MPa. Mann-Whitney U test was applied to rank materials regarding dentin push-out bond strength. Significance level was set at a = 5%. Results: All specimens showed measurable results and no premature failure occurred. TheraCal LC® demonstrated superior push-out bond strength values to dentin when compared to WMTA® (P<0.0001).
