The crushed ice is gradually sliding to the flow field in front of propeller along the hull, resulting in high-speed rotation of the propeller and ice milling, so that the propeller receives severe deformation and damage. In order to further analyze and study various loads in propeller-ice milling process, the testing apparatus of propellerice milling was setup in towing tank, and the measurement equipment and model ice feeding mechanism are described in detail. And, the feasibility and reliability of the testing apparatus are validated by the repeatability analysis and the comparison with the results of other scholars. Finally, the loads of the propeller-ice milling in air as well as in water were analyzed in detail. The experimental results show that the construction of the testing apparatus of propeller-ice milling is feasible and can do a better measure of milling loads of propeller-ice. The faster the model ice moves, the greater the compressive load on the propeller. Detailed description of contact load during propeller-ice milling has an important engineering significance and applications value for the structure design of the ice propeller.","PeriodicalId":52534,"journal":{"name":"Chuan Bo Li Xue/Journal of Ship Mechanics","volume":"23 1","pages":"957-967"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48499261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the shape of a three dimensional surface crack in full-scale bulb-flat was measured and estimated by Nominalization Crack Opening Displacement (NCOD) method. Then the obtained crack shape was used to predict the fatigue crack propagation in the bulb-flat based on the two dimensional Paris formula and the Linear Finite Element Analysis (LFEA) method. Finally, the predicted fatigue crack propagation was verified by the full-scale fa tigue test on a typical ship structure in detail. This method proposed in this paper may provide reference to the definition of failure criterion of bulb-flat.","PeriodicalId":52534,"journal":{"name":"Chuan Bo Li Xue/Journal of Ship Mechanics","volume":"22 1","pages":"873-881"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70179641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of this study is to investigate dam break hydrodynamics with improved Moving Particle Semi-implicit method (MPS). Compared to traditional mesh methods, MPS is feasible to simulate surface flows with large deformation, however, during the simulation, the pressure oscillates violently, due to misjudgment of surface particles as well as particles gathering together. To modify these problems, a new arc method is applied to judge free surface particles, and a collision model is introduced to avoid particles from gathering together. Hydrostatic pressure is simulated by original and improved MPS. The results verify that improved MPS method is more effective. Based on these, dam break model is investigated with improved MPS.","PeriodicalId":52534,"journal":{"name":"Chuan Bo Li Xue/Journal of Ship Mechanics","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70179393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The authors attempt to find some practical ways by investigating the influential factors such as mesh gridding, choice of discretization schemes and turbulence models which affect the calculation results. Through calculation and analysis, specifically with the CFD code FLUENT, an alternative set of computation parameters for engineering application is suggested. And, the results obtained by applying the proposed method in this paper to mono-hull show better agreement with corresponding model tests.","PeriodicalId":52534,"journal":{"name":"Chuan Bo Li Xue/Journal of Ship Mechanics","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70179332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
